This world soccer trophy has proven that Clint Dempsey is in the top three most valuable players in the world. The USMNT have proven how good they can be, and I think they will be strong favourites going into next years world soccer tournament. The team should be able to beat the German team comfortably, the Germany tie against Ghana proved that.

Hey worldcup thread, I was away for the weekend. Only saw the late games, so I saw Bosnia getting screwed over by the ref. And quite the game yesterday between Portugal and Murica, dramatic ending that.

Also wanted to say Belgium has my blessings to stay a little longer.

Wait are the matches on today happening at the same time? I noticed on Google it lists the Spain match being played at the same time Holland does.

Same for Brazil being at 9pm while Mexico is also at 9pm. I want to watch them all. :(

Croatia - Mexico has potential to be the best match of the tournament so far.

Agreed. Going to a bar to watch it with my brother. I'll be rooting for my Balkan brothers to win, but I know in Southern California we'll be heavily outnumbered lol.

Should be a great match though.

Yep! After the disgraceful West Germany-Austria game in 1982 the last two matches in every group are played at the same time to reduce a chance of colluding between teams.

No one seems to know why group B is up first today though.

Oh wait, this guy knows:

I just can't see Germany settling for a draw. And the US will want to top the group, surely.

Thing is, US just walked out of a draw that almost felt like a loss, so morale will surely be affected. I hope Klinsmann snaps players out of it and they can play as well as yesterday.

Why? If I am the US, I fancy my chances against any of Group H's teams...

Idk maybe I'm overestimating their desire to win, but they might as well give it a go. Germany aren't just gonna sit back for 90 mins.

True, but I don't see them capitulating just yet. It'll be an interesting match for sure.
In how many hours is the first game today ? Where can i see it ? BBC or itv.

I think all the matches are on ITV today....

My voice is still raspy from yesterdays game, I felt depressed with that ending though. I'm hoping Mexico was watching and learned something for thier upcoming game.

There is little incentive for Chile or Netherlands to care about todays match, they don't know who they will play, the other groups could go either way...

I guess if we assume Brazil will win and get more goals than Mexico then maybe, but it's not guaranteed.

I don't think morale will be affected that much. They still left with points, even the post match interviews indicated as much.

Why would I be pretending? I don't give two fucks about Portugal. Everyone knows Portugal never stood a chance, especially with a less than fit Ronaldo.

My only interest is that Ronaldo is kept injury-free so he can continue pounding your joke club a new asshole for what will probably be another trophy-less season for Lolcelona.

He's winning the third Balon d'Or anyway, suck it down, bae.

The matches with Spain and the Netherlands are attractive for European sponsors and TV viewers. The matches with Brazil and Mexico are attractive for American sponsors and TV viewers. So they are shown during the according prime times?

Of course they're going to be positive in their post-match interviews. But if you saw Dempsey's face during the ESPN interview, you could tell he was crushed. Imagine how the rest of the team felt. They were a few seconds away from one of the biggest moments in their lives.

Nope. All the groups have this weird time slot. D is before C, F before E etcetera.
I think this was decided before we even knew who was in which pool.

So for no teams it was known beforehand who would have the advantage. Well except for a team that was certain to be in A ofcourse.
