Rooney was okay against Uruguay (not just the goal, his finishing was horrendous though), got a one-game stay of execution from me, and pure n.9 is easily his best position

Otherwise, Sturridge at the head of the 3, and Lallana on the right until Chamberlain is fit

The time to go 4-3-3 was the moment Liverpool started beasting with it, as it does the best job hiding Gerrard's deficiencies, giving Henderson a platform to use his strengths, and theoretically gives Wilshere the most space and service to carry and move the ball into attacking areas. At the very least, that fucking owl should have tried it in the friendlies before the tournament. I honestly question whether he even watched Gerrard or Henderson last season, given the way he used them.

Gerrard wasn't good enough, but he was never going to excel playing as a normal DM in a midfield 2. With 5 Liverpool players in the starting 11, 4 of which had excellent seasons last year, he should have taken that as a clue that the system needed adjusting to get the best out of the spine. Negligence, arrogance, and a fear of moving away from what he's comfortable with. Reminds me all over again of his Liverpool days.

B-Rod pls

Walcott on the right, far better than Ox or Lallana. when fit, one of England's top 2 or 3 players.

Sterling-Sturridge-Walcott front line is tricky, pacy, and deadly on the counter. I'd go with that and just drop Rooney entirely. no idea what level Rooney will even be playing at in two years, let alone four.

OK then Australia. We may be out, but it's time to take something out of Brazil.

That something might just be the scalp of Spain and the burial of tiki taka for good

Believe.

Win this, and we will be ranked 50 something. Lose, it's down to 82nd. We can't afford to fall too much before the next WC qualification draw.

I'm pulling for Chile. I was down there for World Cup 2002, and while they had no presence, the atmosphere was incredible. I can't imagine how fun it must be right now for them. A win against Netherlands would be just amazing.

The meltdown would come eventually when the US beats Germany who are going in with a mentality of the US being easy to beat. Ghana will beat Portugal no matter what happens.

USA and Ghana to go through. This scenario is very real

Netherlands-Chile will determine who will avoid Brazil next round. Other match is only for the glory.

Both teams are playing better than Brazil is right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see either team knock them out. Obviously you don't want to play them if you can avoid it, but it's not a dead end for either team.
