It's not surprising that CONCACAF is doing better.

It's just funny that they all seem to be best friends now that they're all collectively doing much better than they have previously. They clearly have an inferiority complex.

Speaking for the two big teams in CONCACAF, Mexico and USA have usually switched from being friends/rivals based on the situation. Last year, Mexico went from hating the US to thanking and celebrating with them once they both qualified. It does get weird sometimes.

Just listen to this Mexican commentator after US dropped Panama from qualifying

People were saying the same things about Europe 4 years ago when reigning Champions Italy and runners up France both had to go home after the group matches, and in the end there were 3 out of 4 European Teams in the semis and (like 4 years before) an all European final.

Just wait and see.

Holy shit, so true. I'm also active on a german message board, and everyone is so happy about Italy losing. It's pathetic. People still so salty about the 2006 last-minute semi loss and the then ensuing car-parades in "our country".

Racist assholes. Luckily the majority of Germans aren't like that.

Euro's are better than the world cup. The groups alone are ridiculous. Like Italy, France, Holland in one group which happened in 2008. The group matches are pretty much finals already. Sadly it gets expanded :(

James I forget who you root for but I wanna guess it may be Germany? Because you have a lot of that Italian-spite salt in you only a German would have.

This is the best news ever for German fans. Even though I feel this year Germany would have trounced Italy if they did meet. I like Germany. They deserve better than the results they've had in recent years. Always so close and just missing that last extra step. I wouldn't mind them taking it. I honestly don't care who wins I don't hate many or any teams really. Except maybe Uruguay (sorry salsa) but not the team, only one player.

Much respect. All I was saying about wanting Italy out was me joking, I was a bit relieved but I felt terrible. After Buffon came up for the last free kick, I was hoping to god that you guys would score it. I just had a massive change of heart right there, and felt terrible. I really feel for Pirlo and Buffon, they especially should have gone through, world class forever. Sorry mate.

Theyre the only UEFA team that isnt steaming garbage, so youre close. They actually play the game and show some passion.

Well if I was German I'd probably hate Italy as well.

It really isn't deserved though because the games between the two are top tier exciting games with what I recall to be very little funny business and bullshit drama. I think its the greatest rivalry for me. But one of respect and not hate.

I can't speak for everyone, but as a concacafian, I'm happy that everyone is doing great because it will "raise the bar" during the qualifications of Russia 2018.

Mexico used to qualify without even trying, and this time almost didn't make it. We'll had to get better to avoid getting left behind.

I've always supported the idea of uniting the whole American continent in a confederation, it would be good for the competition and rising the quality level.

with all due respect; I would rather to see Mexico competing against Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, etc, instead of Jamaica, San Vicente, Guatemala, etc.

I never realized how many teams are in CONCACAF, and then I realize that I don't know most of these places.

Yeah I was just gonna say this. It will probably 3 European teams and Brazil in the final 4.

Well they dominated two Euros as well. And I would argue that winning the Euro is just as tough.

Sorry, winning the Euro is not nearly as tough as winning the World Cup. I don't even need to point out how much damage South American / Central American teams are doing to Europeans.

Anyway, my point stands: Spain have won 2 euros and the WC with basically the same team. Let's see now that most of it is retiring and a new generation is needed. Then we can compare it to Brazil, Germany and Italy.

I was rooting for Uruguay the whole time....I hated the way Italy played....

SAYING THAT; Marchisio being sent off was a bit fucking harsh, especially when Suarez bites a chunk out of Chiellini.....and gets nothing.

Uruguay manager Oscar Tabarez says he has not seen the Suarez bite. He also claims I have an agenda against the player ...

this is how ww3 starts

it's common when it's an off the ball incident and the ref and linos dont see it. the ref was right next to marchisio however, and having seen the replay i think the red was justified. could have done serious damage.

As soon as one of us has to face the other the friendliness will disappear lol.

I think it's just that we all want our neighbors to do well and get better, because then it raises the standard of play for all of us. You can't really improve as a national team if all of your local competition is shit, so the better our competition gets, the more we'll be forced to get better for future World Cups.

UEFA absolutely needs to give up one of it's qualifying spots to conmebol. Right now they only get 4 guaranteed spots for 2018.

Yet in 2014 they are likely sending 6 teams to the final 16.

That's ridiculous. Even if you give them the .5 spot that's still only 5 spots for 6 final 16 teams.

And honestly when they have 6 teams that good they should be deserving of a 7th spot for an embarrassment slot like every other confederate gets.

As a Germany fan, who's hated the Italians on more than three WC occasion for beating us, I am appalled by the bullshit Suarez pulled today, the BBC commentator even said this isn't the first time he's done that. Italy got robbed today, this is fuckin bullshit, Suarez should be banned from he rest of this WC. pronto.

Ela Hadrun

Probably plays more games than you
Do they maybe just need more refs? In hockey you've got three motherfuckers on the ice all the time, and the area covered is nothing compared to the soccer field. Maybe one schmuck and two linesmen is just plain not enough.

alterno69

Banned
so he let the penalty flow too?

one bad call doesnt make a right.

he didnt seem off for me, either, but ok
The offside was before the alleged penalty, but he decided not to call it cause Buffon had the ball already. That foul is irrelevant cause he'd just call the offside instead.

Pathetic.

Suarez bites people repeatedly, media has an agenda. Sure, the agenda is acting like a fucking civil human being.

Looking forward to see what happens to Suarez after this little escapade. Not a fan of football, but I always love it when issues like this come up. Ever since the days of Vinnie Jones, it surprises me how little football punishes purposeful harm. Now that Suarez is a repeat offender of biting people surely the punishment will be much harsher than being banned from playing a few games.

If Switzerland is a subpar team, what does that make Ecuador, the 4th placed team in the CONMEBOL qualys?
You are just looking at results. Switzerland is a subpar team that plays like any subpar team, park the bus (ratoneo) and get a counter attack.

That is a typical small team tactic and it's shitty. It may work in some games, but that doesn't mean you are a good team.
