It's easy to criticize the writing but MGS is no doubt an extremely impressive series and Kojima does mindblowing work.
No argument. Especially when the series explores themes and concepts that few on the medium rarely do.It's easy to criticize the writing but MGS is no doubt an extremely impressive series and Kojima does mindblowing work.

Oh, I'm not criticizing it at all! It really just seem like a bit hyperbole, that's all.
Oh man:
I do think Kojima has gotten more mature with his writing, but if this were said by IGN, it'd be the new "Oscar winner writing" meme.
Metal Gear Solid games are already films, the films of the future.
The Rays are a rush on Extreme. I loved them.MGS2 is fun as hell, underrated game. Only part I hate is the Metal Gear Rays battle.

Heck, I loved PW and really only found flaws after they were shown and then again it didn't really bother me much, so I'm gonna adore TPP's.
High praise

I think the weakest point is the bomb diffuse portion and the bomb advisor hijacks the game narrative for too long.MGS2 is fun as hell, underrated game. Only part I hate is the Metal Gear Rays battle.

Oh, come on.
I also think the game will be great, but that is hyperbole of the highest order.
NWR is probably the only director that could do justice to an adaptation of Metal Gear.
Good to see that my favorite game director and my favorite film director are bros. NWR is probably the only director that could do justice to an adaptation of Metal Gear.

Apple TV/Chromecast?
btw, I just downloaded the 6.4GB and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! This looks STUNNING! And Kojima said he wasn't ready to show it! lol
Finally seen the gameplay trailer at 60fps 1080p looks incredible.
How is it possible on ps4, I'm running a titan and I bet if this ever comes to pc I'll struggle to run this at 60fps with the same eye candy... I wish it comes to the pc
I think he would do good, but the only director that could do a good MGS movie? I don't suppose Alfonso Cuaron or the guys that did Winter Soldier or del Toro or or or (insert a shitload of directors here) would be cut out for it?![]()
Word. The two have a flair for the symbolic and bizarre methods of storytelling. Not to mention whoever NWR gets to do the lighting in his movies would probably produce the best looking Shadow Moses possible.
We can dream.![]()
Would be really interesting to see an MGS adaptation by Winding Refn. I could see it being pretty abstract though, I really don't think it would resemble MGS in the typical sense. No doubt it'd be great as it's own piece though.
What would be amazing would be seeing all those filmakers create MGS short films and compile them into one collection in a similar sense to the different directors and studios working on short films compiled into one set in Batman: Gotham Knight.
That would be insaaaanely cool.
Norman Reedus could probably make a pretty good Solid Snake as well thinking about it..

i think the majority of the issues with kojima's writing come down to two things, (1) nothing's really edited, (2) translation and cultural differences.
Yeah man, actually it would be cool if different directors handled different games. Each game has a very different feel and very different meaning so there's no reason to have the same director remake every game.
Call me crazy, but I don't want to see a live action film adaptation of MGS. Reason being is that I don't think they could do it justice. If they do it in CG where they can actually show off Liquid and Solid being twins, using classic voice actors, etc, then maybe it'll turn out great. How goofy would it look to see two Hugh Jackman's (or whomever)? One with long blonde hair and the other with short brown hair & a bandana fighting one another.

what the flying fuck? this is real? jesus, Kojima, could you be a little less pretentious?
? Their words, not his.
yeah but it's on the game's site, like showing off. and it's not like Konami/Kojima didn't tell them to watch the video and ask them for a comment. Especially Avi Arad, the guy who told Kojima to use Keifer instead of David.
but that trailer's not even the best MGSV trailer. that would be either the Garbage or Donna Burke one.I don't know, man, maybe they just like the trailer.

This game will certainly have Frank Jaeger in his prime, right?
