I don't think he wanted sympathy. Just wanted to vent his anger. I think he said she only hit him in the arm and he felt violated because she made him mad and he couldn't hit her back, and people came up to them like he was some creep or something.

I always thought they were jerks. Like the kind of people who grew up listening to Howard Stern and incorporated the worst aspects of his show.
 
I don't get it. He is a very angry person, with a well-documented history of saying things much worse than this on his radio show (on race). But now it becomes a fireable offense? Maybe just straw that finally broke the camel's back?
 
Please note he kept photographing her through the "assault." Yes, he was being beaten so badly that he kept putting the camera in her face to capture her expression. So that he could go on Twitter later and literally boast that he should have killed her, and say he hoped she got killed later.

This guy needs help, and I mean that seriously - he isn't well.

As someone who has mostly listened to the show religiously since they started on satellite, Ant has never gone this nuts on air.

It's a real shame he couldn't control himself because he's a great comedic talent. He really had this coming.

There show has had very little shock jock elements for a long time. They play their past bits every now and then and make fun of how stupid they were.

The reason they've been a show for so long is they know how to host funny conversations. It's gotten really political and racist lately and without the sense of humor to alleviate it. They complain a lot about management too and also without making it funny. They have clearly lost a good portion of the audience.

Paraphrasing, "Man, they just don't understand how tough it is on us, and how uncomfortable it is when you get policed for the things you say." ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?

Yeah the first time I ever learned what a Les Moonves was, was from listening to stern cry about CBS management blah blah blah while I was getting dressed for school. The shock jock bit wasn't completely horrible. It's their completely horrible personalities that leech into their creations. Sure they can make their guests shine, but I never thought they were original or anything or even really deserved a show. They were part of why I quit listening to anything but public radio or satellite.
 
The REAL question here is whether Anthony has recovered from his vicious assault.

I must be misremembering then. I know he had constantly railed about disproportionate violent crime rates, black on everyone crime, etc. I thought he even used dehumanizing terms (for black criminals, not black people in general) regularly on the show, but maybe I'm wrong.
 
Ant will come back from this much stronger he is a great guy. I love the Opie and Anthony show and look forward to hearing them again in the future.

By the way Ant was attacked physically and was racially abused he is the victim of a crime. Too bad he didn't shoot that prostitute i can't say that no freedom of speech with you cowards.
