Sony Gamescom: PS4 install base exceeded 10 million units sold through globally.

You may have a point and it may be in issue but the fact that the PS4 has already sold 10 million+ indicates that you're really just looking for a problem that doesn't exist

Sure seems like a plausible scenario that when showing off a new and shiny thing you pick a retro styled 2D plat-former.

I know I show off my 55" Samsung OLED by playing VHS versions of the goonies because that is a sure way to impress people. But they keep saying how they've already seen the goonies on LaserDisk before so they aren't impressed with my TV.

It makes me sad and regret my purchase.

The reason why some people are complaining about the ps4 right now is that most of the big games can be played on older consoles without wasting $400+ on the console.Some people may think these big games are big enough to buy a new console if they look better than the version on the older consoles, but for some people like me we are looking for more games that can only be bought on any of the next gen consoles or games that actually justify wasting $400+ on any of the next gen consoles.

They look AND play better. Compare FF XIV or BF4 on ps4 and ps3. Huge difference.

I'm just saying trying to extrapolate a general trend from a personal experience is problematic.
 
So apparently there's a lot of people expecting others to all of a sudden stop buying the console their friends have, in fact they expect 66% of the people to do so.

Probably it's the opposite.

And that is probably why Microsoft is just trying to buy exclusives. They are dead otherwise.

Some people think that may not be a good enough reason to buy a ps4 and/or an xb1(to an extent) yet.Most games are just a resolution or a framerate bump and are not radically different from the previous gen versions of the game. I think a lot more people will jump into the next gen once people have enough of a reason to stop playing or slowly stop playing on there older consoles.

If you're talking sheer numbers of games available, PS4 has quite an edge because of all the indies that are also available on platforms like PC. In terms of exclusives however they're in similar shape.

Not going to start a list war, at Gc alone they showed over 50 games. If you're one of those people that thinks indies, F2P and anything not made with a 20 million budget aren't games then you'll obviously disagree. Doesn't make it any less of a fact.

It has always be the same right? Every single generation. Heck I paid 600€ for a PS3 with no games. So what's the problem?

Sony won the gamers already. The gamers will win the generation with their qualified recommendations.

No need for list war. I was reading you guys wrong. I was thinking exclusive games. It was so hammered into us last gen that games also on the PC dont count that I forgot that they do now.

The current gen version of BF4 allows 64 player games of conquest as opposed to 32. It is not just the graphics.
However, based on how fast ps4 versions have moved up the sales charts and how fast last gen versions dropped, I would say many people think it is reason enough. Take a look at the sales breakdown charts in the Ubisoft financial report thread. It is amazing to compare the percentage changes.

Funny, Towerfall is what finally sold my friend on the PS4 (local vs gameplay that's simple to pick up and difficult to master). It's amazing what anecdotal evidence does to an argument!

Also related: since I only have 3 friends, and one will buy a PS4 because of Towerfall, we can then extrapolate that every third friend of a PS4 owner will also buy a PS4, just for Towerfall!

Of course, they're not exclusive. I didn't claim they were. I just said that the PS4 had way more games (in response to people wondering why it's selling so well), which is without a doubt true. It's not even close

But I thought that the MS party line is that PC doesn't count.
I know when I was a 360 fanboy I considered Bioshock an exclusive.
