Switch 2 sold 5.82 million units worldwide in june 2025 (UP: Global sell-through sits at 6M units in 7 weeks )

I'm sure at least one third-party will do its job: PlayStation Publishing.
No, MLB will be published by MLB and the old low selling Japan focused IP will be licensed to Bandai Namco, who will develop and publish them.

Seeing the "massive success" of Lego Horizon, I highly doubt they'll try to make more Switch kid friendly spinoff adaptations of Horizon or other big IPs.

Imagine staring into a camera trying to get the perfect face and that was the best shot.

Or Capcom Collection. Or Monster Hunter. Or Resident Evil. or Street Fighter 6.
Exactly, most third parties can use their own data from across the Switch to make judgements
Well, big 3rd parties have a lot of data. If not, doesn't matter: every quarter Nintendo shares the software sales and the percentage of them that are first party. That Switch 2 start wasn't a rare case:

image.png
That's not a unit proportion. That's a proportion of Nintendo's own software sales (and obviously Nintendo makes a lot more revenue from a first party sale than a third party one).

I, like many, was disappointed by the direct but I guess Pokemon and MP4 is enough from first party to close out 2025. Strong numbers and doubt they slow down too much but we'll see.

I was as well until I played The Adventure of Elliot demo…I'm so fucking sold! I just wish it would come out this year instead of 2026.

Polygon redeemed? A Switch Mario Kart was the worst selling one.

huge numbers for nintendo and totally deserved tbh. EDIT: so switch 1 sold 980k not 220k my mistake. I think it still has a shot at outselling the DS then, but with the price increases and the switch 2 being $449 vs a $329 switch 1...... I def see them having issues hitting 160.6 million which is what ps2 ended up selling.

Kirby Air Riders was rated in Saudi Arabia, so it's probably going to make 2025 too. Hyrule Warriors could as well, but given that there was no date in the Direct and it's only scheduled for "this winter," my bet is early 2026.

Less I would imagine as it would be more expensive. And at best exactly the same numbers.
You really think the devices price has anything to do with its production costs instead of Nintendos greed? I'm sorry to tell you, but Nintendo, just like any other company, likes to maximize their profits, that's why there's no OLED version, yet. They don't do this because it's fun, they sell a miserable screen because it's a few bucks cheaper in production and they're after your money.

Then they wouldn't have put two usb-c, one for convenience charging at the top, nor support microSD express which they are the first to do so, while not a single PC handheld at ludicrous costs do.

There's afaik no OLED 120Hz VRR for mobile unless you pay $1k devices and even then, PC handhelds don't either

🤷‍♂️

Totally agree with what you are saying here. Nintendo like most consoles manufacturers like mid generation refreshes to boost sales more. You don't need to break that to me. But my argument was I am not sure the Switch 2 would have sold any more units if it had been an OLED from the get go. As most customers simply do not care. Pretty sure Valve did the same thing with the Deck.. But they do not seem to attract the same amount of distain from some of the folks on here for some reason or another.

The low profit margins of the Switch 2 actually shows that PS handheld is dead on arrival. Basically the Switch 2 cost 450$ and they are seemingly selling it at incredibly low margins. And this is even though they are using an ancient 8nm node for the Switch 2. Imagine how much a more modern PS handheld will cost, naturally making it hard for it to get a big install base. It will probably be dead on arrival in Japan due to the high yen price it will have, while Nintendo seemingly is selling the Switch 2 at a loss in Japan and making it up with software sales.
How do you know what their profit margins are? Some teardown estimate? Consoles work as a business model if they are sold at a loss so any profit is actually good. 30% bought fucking Pro controller 2s which are very high margins. I bought one and DK but I am cheap and used Costco for the controller at 10$ off and 10% off on eshop.

I am still confused at these numbers and the reality that Target has had them for over a week as well as other retailers. Are they in stock because people assume they are not? People are still posting on Reddit like they scored something rare when they get one. Are they in stock now because Nintendo diverted all stock to the US to avoid tariffs? Will they sell out and be hard to get for Xmas? I am expecting that to be the case because as of now they have only sold to ~4% of Switch 1 owners, but this is not typical for a console release in the US. At least not for a successful one or even XSX.

Just a wild guess, if/when Steam makes a Deck 2, OLED option would be there day one. I think it's probable their OLED version was a reactive update to Switch OLED, much like the Deck 1 was reactive to the Switch itself -as in, not a premeditated plan. Now that they've had the idea, it's unlikely they would hold it back on Deck 2.

Honestly, looking at this makes me think switch won't cross ps2 sadly. I expect it'll 157.something by the end of the fiscal year with a sharp decline especially now that price has increased again. This might be another DS situation where they stopped right before 155. I feel like taking a price cut would have been worth the eternal bragging rights of the 'biggest console ever' for a videogaming company but apparently not.

You know you guys are making fun of this dude but he's done his part. I'm presuming he's gotten the viewerships, clicks and ads of the 'hater' audience, who'll go on to cope as to why it predictably succeeded. And when you make fun of him, which the mainstream audience is supposed to do, you're also playing the cog in the wheel, driving attention of the normies to laugh at him

This quarter is the slowest one, if during the holidays it doesn't sell at least 3 million, then it will be Joever
