Confession time. I've never owned a Smash game. Always played it at friends houses but never had my own copy.
My biggest fear is that having the two versions prevents them from any long term support. I'm sure they could manage it, but the question would be if they want to.
Oh well, can't wait for all the rule 34 that'll spawn from

I know right? Still, same could be said for Mario Kart 8 and they sure as hell are taking their sweet time to give us any new content (not even gonna talk about that lame Mercedes DLC)
My guess is they'll release different DLC for each game or... only on the one which will sell the most (and I guess it's gonna be the 3DS one).
I mean sure it's fun as a party game, but it's also a great fighting/action game in and on itself.

Sure it does. It means poorly suited for single player, best played with a handful of people and easy to learn.
And all genres are bad at explaining what a game is. Racers, platformers and strategy games can all have wildly different gameplay and new genres like social are even less defined.

I disagree, I find Mario Party-like games really boring when playing alone, I've spent a shitload of time on playing single player Smash. A decent netcode will elongate its replay value insanely for me.

I would say there's a difference between:
- Games that are fun to play at parties
and
- Games that are specifically designed for parties.
The former can apply to many games that have secondary functions or modes aside from a single player 'campaign' that can be suited to groups of players, i.e SSB, or Mario Kart, LittleBigPlanet etc.
The latter would be games with which the 'party' element is the primary function - i.e. Wii Party, Mario Party, Buzz etc etc.
Clearly it's just my opinion, but I would have classed SSB as a 'Game fun for parties' because there's (AFAIK) a fully fleshed out campaign that I'm sure many people buy the game to play.
Edit: ^^^^^^ My beef with that argument is the campaign. It's usually been a way of practising while getting the last characters unlocked. In Brawl it was a painful mess, but that's for another time

Yeah but I don't really believe it... Those can just be unused assets that are gonna end up , well, unused.
Which makes me kinda sad because I hardly touch MK8 anymore. Bought it on release date and spent countless hours playing with people on the Official Thread, but after 200 hours of playing, things just don't feel the same haha.

Haha, I jumped back in recently and it pulled me right in, it's addicting lol. Can't wait for the patch on Wednesday, map on screen!
And yeah, hopefully they do it. I'd love retro courses done in MK8's style, I want to race on the walls of Bowser's Castle 64 so bad!

I turned 30 three months ago and even tough I live in a city with quite a healthy gay scene, I haven't really had relationship yet, so I could say I'm quite inexperienced, mostly because I'm not an outgoing or social person. I'd rather be at home than on the street.
I work helping my mother with the family business since my father died about 8 years ago, I also live with her and does a good job of pretending I'm not gay since I came out to her like five years ago. At least she doesn't ask me why I'm not dating any girls anymore and that was my main motivation for coming out then, so, mission acomplished I guess.

Haha I saw the Retsupurae episode of that. But to be honest when I was a kid I loved to play Mario Party alone. Sure I loved to play it with friends too but I did play Mario Party 1 to 5 alone from time to time, mostly to unlock everything. No shame in that

Same here. Once everyone started fire hopping online I stopped playing. Will there ever be a Mario Kart that doesn't have an online ruining glitch?

There's nothing wrong with playing Mario Party by yourself. Sitting alone in a dark room watching someone else play Mario Party alone in a dark room is pretty damn depressing, though, so it's really weird to see someone upload a solo Mario Party let's play.
