I dont know if you are trolling or being serious. The iPhone 5S has 512mb and runs games much smoother than any android with more ram than that... even better than quad cores, shield tablets,... its all down to optimization, you can have better specs but its really the OS and how its optimized the one who dictates the final result.... and Apple is the king here.

And for 1080, with a 4.7 or 5.5 screen wont be necessary, its will be a vacuum cleaner for the battery, and we dont need that. We want better battery life.

Half joking. I know Apple's optimization is top notch, but in this day and age of bigger, more complicated apps, ram usage is getting tighter. People complain about safari on the current ipads with 1gb, it will only get worse.

As for high res screens, the difference between 720p - 1080p on a sub 5 inch screen is minimal yes but still noticeable. This is supposed to be the most high end flagship smartphone on the market, at a time when android phones are moving onto quad hd as a standard it is a bit laughable that the iphone is still not even full HD.

I personally care more about ram on an iPad than and iPhone. I haven't had much of an issue with ram in my iPhone 5. But I don't do tons of tabs on it like I do on an iPad. I would still like 2gigs ok iPhone 6 though for future proofing.

It's also something that Apple kicked off with retina mobile displays and ultra high resolution tablet displays. Only problem now is Apple can't keep up with the value proposition certain other vendors are offering. Hopefully some of these specs details are untrue and Apple's still going to show up with some premium specs, because they're certainly charging premium prices.

Perhaps it's slightly more expensive than using just a single A8 chip, but 1 GB RAM uses less battery life than 2 GB RAM - so they might save costs because a lower capacity battery is needed.

Resolution is not that important any longer, the human eye can't tell the difference between 320 and 420 PPI.

Color accuracy is what really matters from now on IMO.

I agree with you that a higher pixel density is not necessarily needed - I would rather keep the current 326 ppi and have better battery life - but there is a difference between 320 ppi and 420 ppi, and most people can see that difference.

That difference is just in thinner 1 pixel lines. Not a huge deal. The aesthetic appeal is pretty much the same.

ram is more important on the ipad retinas with much higher resolutions than iphone (even the 5.5). If Apple didn't bump the ram for the air, then they won't for the iphone.

Still have my fingers crossed they use the additional ram as a selling point for the Air 2. Lead on that, get their costs down and then bring it into the iphone 6S next year

Less powerful than what? Resolution doesn't equal performance/power (unless you're removing it, which ironically is what seems to be happening here, making it more powerful, look at the iPad 2 vs iPad 3).

I don't think we need to be snarky about pricing. base model will be 700 off contract like every other recent iphone. it won't be cheaper. it'll be one of the most expensive phones on the market, like usual.

While I get that iOS runs better on less RAM than Android, I feel like a flagship phone that we may want to run well for two or three more OS revisions could be future proofed better with 2GB of RAM... I get the complaints, despite not being a spec-fiend myself.

The RAM is definitely a joke though. That's something that does make a difference.

1080p is a noticeable difference from 720p on a phone at 4.7 or 5.5 inches. It was a big upgrade for me when I went from my S3 to S4. One gig of ram is a joke if true. I will pass on this if those specs are true.

So I read that the specs and other bits of data of the iPhone 6 has leaked and was wondering is now a good time to upgrade from an iPhone 4 16GB to an iPhone 6 32GB?

Don't really use it at all for 'gaming' but take a LOT of photos and use it as my main music player as well (currently out of space and I hate deleting music).
The 5MP camera of the iPhone 4 does the job but I want something a little better than that. Front camera is a joke though.
And then the rest of the time I use it for standard smartphone stuff; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, texting, calling, Safari etc etc etc.

Anyone else intending to upgrade from a 4? Or upgraded from 4 to 5S last year? Worth it?
Will be tuning in later for the full rundown to hear Apple give me the hard sell but was just curious to hear what real people had to say.

The iPhone 6 is likely going to blow every phone out of the water with its benchmarks (especially with that lower resolution). To be more specific it will be best in GPU pefromance like it always is. I don't think the new iPad is going to be the best in graphical performance anymore though. Nvidia actually delivered this time. The Tegra K1 is too good and the next Nexus tablet is going to be crazy as result.

As for resolutions, 1080p is just an arbitrary number, it's doesn't mean much on a phone. Apple will pick the resolution that works best for the hardware and involves relatively less work for their developers.

It's really the iPad that would get that boost from more ram. The fact that I can actually multitask on my Nexus 7 with ease is huge. The Nvidia Tablet has really closed the gap in performance next to the iPad and it's at a good price. Just not sure if its battery efficient as a Qualcomm snapdragon 805 though.

Yeah, it depends what are the significant parts when it comes to RAM size. It could be the BKT bit, which would make sense as it's replacing 8GT in the old one for 8Gb. Hopefully it is 2GB.
