What hype are people expecting? They are releasing two phones, one 4.7, the other 5.5. The 5.5 is coming out in probably a month, and they are announcing iWatch. What else would happen??

Only time they have had issues was getting their biggest software update in years to run on old devices that were at least 2/3 years old and even then they resolved it (sort of lol).

I'm also a believer that when actual multi tasking arrives on iOS it will be ipad only (possibly 5.5).

They never resolved iPhone 3G on iOS 4. I don't blame them for that, but it was so slow, I actually went back to my Nokia N95 until the last couple of months of my contract ran out and I could buy a 4 D:
 
That's really neat. I'm gonna need more screens to have everything up! Looking to watch on one screen and Endgadget liveblog on the other.

Apple absolutely helps create the hype. They've never had an event countdown on their homepage before, they never liveblogged events before. They've never erected an entire building just for an event.

The media has a role, but Apple itself is doing way more to hype this event than they did any other before

Apple have been openly interested in TVs for years, just because nothing has surfaced, and may never surface, doesn't mean it's not in development.

They want the smart TV, but it's a service and contract and transmission logistical nightmare. The iPhone was the same thing, but they got AT&T to relinquish a lot for them, but the product itself was already underway when they managed to negotiate away the logistical issues. Presumably, their TV work would be similar, they'd have something in some state of development ready for if and when they could move forward.

A watch has been talked about for probably 2 years now, along with a TV, and given there were more leaks this year than previous with a watch there is some serious hype.

Apple doesn't need to release a television, ever.

They can't even get their displays right. It has been 1,090 days since the last refresh.

Apple has absolutely done video streams and count downs before, this is not new at all.

And why is it that when Apple does it's considered over the top and crappy, but when anyone else does it it's fine?

I think the main point of this event is to show the direction Apple is moving in, and the markets they will tap into.

- Mobile / payments
- Wearables / fashion
- Health / fitness
- Home automation

The iPhones and iWatch will be shown as part of the overall strategy.

This will be a grander event than just a product launch.

Like it's been said 1000x, it's not even about the performance in terms of speed and smoothness. A lot of people want to be able to multitask without their shit refreshing. The iPhone and iPad would both benefit immensely from the ram boost. The iPhone you can get away from it a little, but a lot of people do a ton of browsing on their iPads so it matters.

I absolutely agree. Getting into the TV or cable industry would be a terrible move and one that isn't very Apple, though the same could be said with music. I just think if they ever do something radical there it will be with a much improved AppleTV OS that supports an SDK.

I forgot about the TV to be honest, but I imagine they could put that in the iPad event. All's I am saying is that we know what to expect, so why are we hyping ourselves up that this will be the best thing yet for apple?

I think WWDC showed Apple is finally starting to bridge it all together in better ways. I'm expecting to see a ton more about iOS 8 this event, whereas WWDC was more OSX centric.

meh I'd take the better battery life over more ram in the off times something refreshing is annoying.

There is no way 1gb is a reason for Safari to constantly reload tabs. Other browsers (Opera and Chrome) can handle tons of tabs without having to reload them when you go in. Its a software decision to preserve battery life.
 
Apple should turn these into horrible WWE-like theatrical productions. Tim Cook turning heel, bringing back Forstall and raising the price of the new base 8GB iPhone 6 with mock-Corinthian leather default wallpaper. Dre and Jony Ive cut a sick promo then chug some beers.


but seriously, the iWatch thing is gonna disappoint a lot of people but will sell a truckload (a la iPad) and people will cry about 1GB of ram in the iPhone 6, it will still sell a dump truck load, iPhone 6S+ will have 2GB but then Google will have a new 'iPhone killer!!!!!!!111!1!!!!" with 4GB of ram and people will get more annoyed etc etc
 
any sites that broadcast the stream besides apple? even if its a forward of the apple stream? I want to watch it, but I'm on a windows computer at work
