Aldnoah Zero Season 2 |OT| Inaho or Out, It's All The Slaine

Just a thought, but why did Inaho pull the gun on Slaine when he knew what would happen if he had done so? I feel like it's completely out of character for him.

Unless he already knew he was gonna die and just took the first step.

He would have been shot anyways. He probably knew he was done for, at least tried to take Slaine down with him.

Well he does have that CGI movie or whatever, but the script for that is almost certainly done.

Funny, this is exactly how I felt about Valvrave. Shoddy plotting that's designed to be fun to watch rather than make sense with the characters.

Can't say I'm in favor of it. It'll be harder for me to take this series at face value going forward. Hopefully the second cour does something interesting with all this.

Haha yeah. I was laughing at how rushed that whole fight was. Like Inaho just shot him with some baby missiles, Saazbaum is like "YOU DIRTY TERRAN!"

Kind of made sense due to all those 3 mech abilities not being compatible with each other. He should have realized something that complex couldn't work to begin with.

Inaho and Asseylum are both alive. Calling it now. Asseylum gave Inaho activation and you can transfer your consciousness into a machine. That's where the super civilization went: into a singularity. Inaho and Asseylum will continue to tap each other on Slaine's PDA as a giant fuck you. As Slaine sleeps all he will hear is the 8-bit moaning of Asseylum.

What exactly was Saazbaum's plan for breaking the circle of grief ? Killing all people on Earth ? I will take one dimensional Nazi, racist, feudal, idiots over terribly written and contradictory morons.

I'll tune in for the next season but after episode 10 and 12, i lost my faith in this show.

Probably committing to the war, and then using his influence at some point to take out the King (either via assassination or rebellion). He probably wanted Dr.Troyard at some point to get a solution that allowed him and his followers to use Aldnoah without royal authority.

The 'circle of grief' he describes has nothing to do with the Terrans' well-being; just how the Martians essentially have no end-game/no future unless they commit to invading Earth.

I dunno about that, Saazbaum seemed pretty comfortable in his shoes after the transformation. It feels as though a lot of the fight was cut out and smoothed over.

Don't matter. Inaho got further with ASSeylum than Slaine ever did. Slaine lost.

Considering how he used the weaknesses of the previous mechs against him. The rocket arm couldn't detach without turning off the shield as nothing leaves the barrier. The barrier also shows the weak spot when it goes up. He was also close enough for damage to hit that area. Saazbaum had the worst designed mech in any series. Any thing he does leaves him wide open. Saazbaum confirmed to have a tiny penis.
 
Oh man that was fun. Slaine really needs to figure out who the hell he is fighting for. Though with all of the torture and lies he's been fed I don't blame him for making strange choices. A wish we could have had more insight into who Inaho was so emotionless.

Interested to see what they do for the second season.

Just binge watched all 12 episodes. Mannnnnnn I was kinda conflicted on Slaine but after that, I hope he dies a terrible terrible death. I mean........wtf was he thinking. Such a simp.

And we gotta wait til January? :(

Pretty much how I feel. Not all villains need some justification, especially a silly one like Saazbaum's.

And about Slaine, is not the problem that he's dumb, the problem is that he makes no sense. This kid didn't hesitate to kill the douchy knight that told him about the plot, didn't hesitate to shot a guy in the leg for information, his motivation was clear but he gets to see Saazbaum and suddenly changes into this dumb kid full of doubts because he heard a (relative) sad story.

That's the writer's fault. And is also shitty writing to kill characters if you are not comitted to keeping them dead unless there's some clear fantasy elements in the plot.

I also don't care who gets the princess, I just wanted an anime where people use their brains but apparently that was too much to ask.

You can't really blame the guy, he is getting shot at by both side. Mars treat him like dogs, torture him, and a huge organization within is plotting to kill his only love. Meanwhile, Earth kidnapped his princess, make use or her power to activate the battleship, shot him down, and he belong to the military that is in war against Earth. The viewers may have both side of the story, but I am sure Slaine think both side are scums.

Yeah he saved Saazbaum, which is a dumb mistake. However, Saazbaum is the only guy that treat him like human being, saved him from torture, gave him chicken, freedom, and shared a boring powerpoint presentation with him. If I were him I wouldn't help the earth force either.

Aldnoah Zero - End

Best episode in the series. Not a great achievement considering all the other episodes were mediocre, but solid nonetheless.

Inaho had little or no character development during the series, but his end was strangely cathartic for me. For entire series, his actions were based on a purely logical and utilitarian standpoint. However, at the end he chooses to pull out a gun at the most illogical of circumstances and dies because of it. He sees the person he loves dead and finally acts out of emotion, and dies for it. I actually felt that this single moment made him the most developed character. Funny that the moment a character actually gets something proper for the audience to invest in, he dies. It's like the series it's afraid of developing its characters beyond paper-thin personalities.

I couldn't get invested in Slaine however. Majority of his time in the show is spent seeing how much shit luck he has. The few scenes attempting to grow Slaine's character, such as his flashbacks with the princess, comes up as weak. I felt like the only reason the show gave me to care about Slaine was that "He was tortured by some chunni Martians therefore you should feel sad. Also ntr". It's even worse for Marito. Like it's hard for me to come up with instances where his presence actually affected the plot.

Anyways, a solid show with some decent action scenes. This season was terrible for non-comedy series, so it looks like it might end up being the my second favorite in that regard.
 
Don't underestimate the power of free chicken.

Also, Slaine isn't loyal to nations, he's loyal to individuals. He was willing to be an enemy to the Martians and the Terrans for Asseylum's sake, he was willing Terrans kill Martians, and endure torture by the latter, all for the sake of Asseylum.

Saazbaum was actually nice to him on some level after the shit he endured in Crutheo's custody, and that scene with the Martian soldier seemed to play even more into his frame of mind of not knowing exactly where his loyalties lied.

Yeah, saving Saazbaum was a mistake. I don't think he gave it much thought at the time. He just saw that Orange bastard that had fucked him over, so he went at him.

Apparently there was a live-streamed Gargantia event on Nicovideo today, and twitter posts quote Urobuchi Gen as saying:

"Aldnoah Zero's ending isn't my fault!"
"In my original outline, Inaho and the princess have fallen in love, and Slaine takes her away, ending the season!"
"Don't blame me if people die in Psycho-Pass 2, that's Ubukata's doing!"

As it's been pointed out to me, Slaine's ability to power his mech might be related to Asseylum performing CPR on him and somehow imparting a fraction of Aldnoah space magic in him. By the same logic, it's possible Inaho received the same power from Asseylum.

Space magic will save both Asseylum and Inaho.
