Yea i figured they would drop the chances of legs and make them give out gear less as well since its a guarantee. Im glad they did this though. Should have been like this at launch.

Two minutes after posting this, a legendary engram turned into an Exotic Patience and Time sniper with arc damage.... I take it all back, Destiny.

Had Hard mode Atheon down to 20% right before he enraged. So close but so far

That video posted up a bit has the general idea of positioning for the outside team. It should help keep them alive if they follow the same basic directions. With enough repetition even more casual players should get the hang of it.
Last Atheon run I did was like that.
Everyone died.

Me and my group last night hadnt read up on any Raid strats before getting to Atheon and he had his way with us. Between kamikaze harpies, and people wiping if they got ported to Green side, we just couldn't manage it.

Really want to try the raid mode on hard mode now that I've beaten it and get some of those OPed guns. If anyone is going to be the hard mode raid anytime tonight or tomorrow feel free to hit me up.

EDIT: I also have the Vision of Confluence, which is apparently good for hard mode I just learned.

I hate the progression system in this game.
In order to hit 28, I have to commit to a piece of armor by spending precious shards to upgrade it past light +22. However, I'm still waiting on an exotic I'm happy with, and I don't know which slot that'll be in so I'm hesitant to spend any shards. Any advice?

I know that feeling way too well. Cleared VOG every week since release and have got 0 parts of raid armor.

Oh were suppose to shoot those? lol I shoot the mobs that spawn and a friend gets the oracles then i help out with the rest.

Finally made it through the raid today. It really isn't that difficult as long as everyone is coordinating what's going on outside the portals while the relic is being moved.
As for gear, ended up with Kabr's Greaves, Chadder White, Corrective Measure (heavy machine gun), and an assortment of ass mats.
Can't wait to run it again after Tuesday in hopes of a new gun or the part of the raid gear.

I think it's more to do with the option you already have unlocked. The current option will be increasing this stat by a greater amount, perhaps at the cost of something else.

I played the Mission 5 times last night. Got 3 different elements for my Snipers. Queen and I are tight.
I did my second queens mission with a friend today to get him some armor and I got the arc sniper. What is so great about it?
finally cleared hard mode after a few raid attempts at it. atheon honestly seems easier on hard than normal. big thanks to alchemist2600 for the help and the strat refinement.
got dat battlecage and a fatebringer.
and now i look like a beast. time to try to get 3 of these a week going for vex mythoclast.

It's a good legendary sniper and it's always nice to have long range elemental damage for the Nightfalls especially. With arc burn, you can just hang back at a safe distance and do huge damage.
Haha, yeah, they gotta go or you get marked for death. With our group the people getting ported in would focus on oracles and take too many hits off of mobs. If I was outside, we'd open a portal and I'd run inside to back them up. That worked a few times, but not consistently enough.
Oh, got a Robe of Hezen Lords for my Warlock before Atheon spawned though. Made up for everyone getting gear throughout while I got Ass shards.

I finished the story with my alt yesterday. Since I didn't want to see the ending cutscene I quit when the countdown hit. Problem is I only got the Mote of Light from the Speaker. How do I get the blue Pulse Rifle now?
The trick is to have the people using their Gjallarhorns hiding behind the portals, and to pop out and fire. I annihilated him this week doing exactly that, and not going into the bubble. Gjallarhorn is a must for Atheon.Inside the bubble shield everyone would die

Just have 3 people stay outside. One on each sync plate to turn both portals on. They then stand on the pillar thats in the middle of it. The third goes in the middle platform. The other three run in and rekt shit in the portals.

You can only do the raid once a week to reap the rewards, correct? Once you do it, do you have to wait until the weekly refresh to do it again for gear, etc.?

Seems like if Anyone died than the whole group just domino-effect crumbled under added pressure. We did fine up to Atheon, so I don't know, maybe we were just tired...and I don't think we had any special exotic rocket launchers to help out So my thunderlord i got from cryptarch purple engram pre patch (yes this actually happened) will be no use for the raid? Lvl 27 defender not tried raid yet only thunderlord and a legendary pulse rifle (strange suspect) other than blue weapons.
Alright, I'm giving up on Bad Juju until it gets a buff. Going to finish the Invective bounty and use that for the exotic slot. Tried nightfall with it again, this time the damage was upgraded twice I think, I can't take down even half a shield on anything with a full clip. This means that unless the enemy is bottom of the rung cannon fodder, I might as well not switch to the primary. The other, larger issue is not having a mic really hampers things if the other players aren't on the same page.

Oh you mean the sights? Yeah the stat explanations are all bananas. They don't match with the actual stat changes at all.
I guess there could be some hidden stats in the game that we aren't told of, so the explanations might be true. There might be a couple of factors that could change for a single stat, so it doesn't have to be this one thing. But in that case the game does a poor job of explaining its mechanics.
I've started to realize what most things do now though. I initially thought that range was only how far your bullet would go, but it also includes accuracy and damage potential. This is a major deal for handcannons and scout rifles since you want to land headshots at longer distances. With high range the chance for headshots increases significantly.

So I reached rank 3 with the queen, unlocked new blue guns to have fun still I read there is a shader called Shades of the Reef but I cant see it in the vendor.
they'll be OK. if Thunderlord is upgraded it should be good on the bosses.
i cleared it last week with no legendary primary or special weapons, and just legendary heavy RL and HMG.
obviously having legendary primary and special would be a big help, but its doable without if you have some decent rare weps.
Vision of Confulence also reks face nicely in PvE when fully upgraded. Full auto scout rifle that deals fire damage :b
