Don't ever do a Raid with 26s and 27s. Holy mother of Shit.

Levels don't mean much outside of damage and armor scaling. A poor player can suck at any level.

The other day graverobber and I was helping a friend finish the raid. I was running an alt 27 hunter and figured I would let the 2 random lv28 my friend grabbed do the relics.

After 5-7 horrible screwups, I said fuck it and took over relic duty. Pretty much smooth sailing from there...

Eh, my raid group was made up of mostly 26's and 27's when we first got to Atheon. We had one 28, three 26's, and two 27's. Ironically our problems weren't even due to player level, but due to player stupidity. The first week we cleared it was two 26's, 27's, and 28's.

I've beaten it twice with my group before, but for whatever reason, we're struggling even more so than the first time.

I'm 29 and everyone else is 26 or 27. We've probably been at Atheon for 2 hours. Absolutely ridiculous.

Edit: can't paste quotes so I'll use @.

@ocean: agreed. They're going to level up so hopefully ssmooth sails.

@Tekku: I'm not sure of the damage penalty, but my lower level team mates die pretty quickly and we have to do more runs to take out Atheon.

@Dreamgazer: I'm running relic duty as well, but sometimes there are fuck ups outside or someone slips and falls to their doom. We'll get it eventually, though.

Has anybody got the PS4 exclusive gear yet? If so, how did you get it? From a drop in Dust Palace or what?

I have the full Manifold set for Warlock, I got it all from playing Vanguard Tiger Strikes.

Took a long time to get, so now it's worthless. Looks amazing though.

The Unfriendly Giant vs Gjallarhorn? The reasons I'm considering TUG is for the Surplus perk (more likely to find ammo for it) and because it lets me use Suros Regime as I haven't found another good primary legendary I like. Might change when I can buy Devil You Know handcannon next week though.

Does Gjallarhorn's second perk add DPS on single targets? If it does then I'll probably just go for that. I'm not super sure on the properties of the scatter effect without actually seeing it.

Whoever thought that the grimore cards were a good idea should be taken out back and shot.

Some interesting things I found when going through some today (Which may already be known):

- For each weapon type, once you reach a certain number of kills, weapons of that type will gain XP faster.

- For each crucible map type, completing 50 of that type will result in a chance of cloaks/bonds dropping, also a chance of tournament tickets?

- Once you complete 50 strikes, there is a chance of cloaks/bonds dropping.

- Once you kill 2500 enemies per planet you will gain extra material from nodes in that planet.

Yeah all of that could easily be placed in the game. Maybe not in the character interface, but perhaps on a statistics billboard or something in The Tower. Having to start your computer to find valuable information about game progression is just bullshit.

Bad juju 25 strikes has successfully burnt my wife and I out.

The best part of that grind? Once you get the gun, it's virtually useless until you level it up most of the way which makes it just mediocre instead of terrible.

Oh absolutely. It's going to be unplayable.

I'm really curious what sort of gating it will have. Can you bring a fresh level 20 into it and be unable to damage most level 28-30 players?

The only tournament we know of is the 'Trial of Osiris' you spend the ticket to enter the tournament in which the amount of wins you have in a row increase the rarity of the post game items but lose three times and your out. This is known due to Grimoire apparently you can buy tickets with motes of light but I take that as a rumour, knowing destiny though this content has probably been chopped out for an expansion pack.

I love the idea of some poor soul working the intricacies of these rules and gates out for five years. Then an executive comes over, "we've got to fill these cards with something, hey you! with the 500 page binder, com'ere."

Which is exactly why I'm leaving it in the slot and letting it tick up naturally. Being one bounty down is a bit inconvenient, but it's better than forcing myself through 25 in a row.

This is all essential information. That it isn't in game is absolutely baffling.

Had the game had the Grimore in game voiced by the amazing voice talent it would have added so, so much to the world building and atmosphere. Even if it wasn't voiced, just being in game would have changed the way the game felt considerably.

Hell, even just text explanations of these bonus systems would have helped.

vanguard tiger getting disrespected pretty hard

where's that level 28 strike playlist
Locked behind The House of Wolves apparently.

The Vex Mythoclast is used in the primary weapons slot and does Solar... but that doesn't really count.

Right now, only certain Raid achievable weapons have elemental damage properties on primaries, such as Atheon's Epilogue.

Thanks for the reply

I need to do vault of glass I know one person with a ps4 and he got it today others will get it at christmas. Was lucky enough for some random person to invite me to the weekly challenge. Also fucking shards are hard to get hold of :(.

Yeah I would have loved that. All I could think about when reading the cards on the site was why isn't this in game and voiced like the Mass Effect Codex?!?!

The current Vanguard Tiger (level 24) strike playlist gives the same amount of marks/reputation as the level 28?

Hmmm, I'm guessing yes their will be a level 28 strike playlist but the rewards will def. be adjusted when DLC releases. Looking at that makes me now wonder was this supposed to be in at launch but then removed prior to.

Oh yeah. E.g. I fire at an yellow bar + shielded Wizard, the initial blast takes the shields and most of the heath, then the cluster explosions finish the job. It's great.

Ok cool. Now I just need to find a good primary to replace Suros. Hopefully Atheon Epilogue can drop for me next week.

Been working on it over the course if the week. Still far too many, still barely get anything from doing the strikes even with the patch.

Pretty amazing hearing how awful the gun is after doing all this shit to get it.

Brb going back to wow

The likely culprit is people skimping because of confidence. I'd say that whoever your raid leader is (likely you) should be making sure that communication is adequate. Before you start your next attempt, just reiterate who's going where, when, and why. For example, mine is composed of A, B, C, D, E, F, and G (myself). I'd say, "okay, so why are we placing who we are, where we are?" In my groups case, we send our Striker Titan in to grab the relic, along with myself (going as a Gunslinger Hunter) and a third (this varies, but generally a Defender Titan) into the portals. We keep two Sunbro's and a Gunbro protecting the portals from outside, because they have the hard job. The Sunbro's being able to self-res stops potential wipes, and the Gunbro's super is good at cleaning up the Harpies relatively quickly.

The big reason, though, that we have those 3 outside is that they're all fans of semi-auto weapons, which are best for precision kills but not good against the oracles due to sheer DPS needed. So, I go into the portal with an auto-rifle so that we can quickly clean up the oracles, and keep consistent damage on the boss. While harpies are clear on the outside, they put precision damage and grenade damage on the boss (worth noting grenade damage is not impacted whatsoever, so it always does full damage no matter what). Also, whoever has the relic should be calling out for help if they need it. Granted, the only thing that is a relative problem is the Minotaur in the Jungle portal, but I'll use my Gunslinger Super as soon as we get in so that it goes down in the first hit or two. When I forget to do that, we have more wipes than I'd like to admit.

Other than that, if you're struggling, try and figure out which side is having problems. For a while we had trouble on the outside because we were trying to protect both portals. We eventually figured out it's easier to just protect one, and then have the portal group call which one they're in so that they know which one to protect.

I still don't understand certain upgrades.

For example:
How is an improvement to range actually a reduction in range?

I believe I have also seen "stability increases" and it shows it decrease.

Just got the A.1F19X-RYL rifle from purple engram.

I use this table here. I have no idea if it's truly accurate, but it's what I use when I'm scratching my head.

The random sight upgrades are all vs. the basic weapon I believe. Seems to me some of the descriptions over-emphasise the stat modifiers a little, couple that with a player expecting subsequent tiers to be an improvement over the last unlocked modifier in the column and that's where the issues arise.

Do people hate the non-Dust Palace Mars strike? Every time it popped in the playlist both other players dropped as soon as they spawned. :/

I actually don't mind any of them, and enjoy trying to get the "don't die" strike bounty in harder content rather than just going for the lowbie Devils Lair
and still dying to complacency
.
I think the same thing that happened with the queens missions is now happening with strike playlists (or the practice started there). The rewards are supposedly the same, so people just orbit until the earth strike with simiks prime.

I have a feeling Iron Banner is going to be a real piece of shit. I can't wait for the Raid Rich to walk all over the poors.

PvP would really be good if there was a "pure" mode that would disable all abilities and supers.

and maybe do that super-normalization to weapons so all weapon classes would behave similarly, only have visual differences
so all Autorifles would behave similarly, all shotguns etc. this way it would be about pure skill, not equipment.

Just played a round of rumble, and everyone was running around with either legendary or exotic fusion rifles and wasting me with a single shot, GG Bungie

anyways, I need more ass shard, how do I go about acquiring them?

Morning all.

I asked a few pages back, but has anyone used Grim Citizen III?

Also, having my first taste of the Raid last night has had a profound effect. It's made me re-evaluate everything from weapon load out (gimme the Void) to class load out.

To any high-level Bladedancers; I've become the stealth/emergency medic of my group, thanks to the various means to go invisible. The routine is normally crouch until I go invisible, run, Blink Strike to invisibility if need be, followed by a stealth revive. It's very effective.

But the Arc Blade super is pretty redundant unless it's standard mobs, or you're in a tight spot and need a defense boost and need to thin things out a little. Despite looking cool, I never use Showstopper now.

Do you think it's better to have the Invisibility option on the super, for tanks/stealth revives/GetOutOfJailFree?

What sort of builds are high-level Hunters running?

I did this all weekend. Sorry. Thank the bounty that requires 10 triple kill streaks.

Maybe. I feel that something like Iron Banner has a place but it really needs solid matchmaking to keep it from being massively unfair. You'd have to have a system that weighed all your equipped items (and disabled switching gear mid match) so that you don't end up with low 20s vs. Raid equipped 28-30s.

Now all the suros regime owners can enjoy themselves.

and yesterday i finally got hatemail from completely dominating a few rounds of Deathmatch with Shingen-E, a Fusion rifle with a fast firerate and big magazine, added with Bladedancer supers. Such OP combinations :D

I'm getting it in the hope the buff will make it at least viable.

I get plenty from strikes. Levelling Cryptarch for chances at legendary is why I do them. Low chance now, but when a legendary drops post patch it feels special because you know it will be useful in some way.

Right now I want shards and energy, so it can be anything and it's good.

i don't see the point in this, since most strikes can be finished rather quickly and earth isn't even the shortest.

If you're not running Gunslinger in high level pve you're doing it wrong. imo

Don't limit yourself to just one side of the class. You want to be flexible, and able to fill your teams weak points, no matter where they may be. Personally, this is how it goes for my group:

We have 2 Hunters, 2 Warlocks, and 2 Titans. Both Warlocks are Sunsingers, for the self-revive ability. This is because they're not the absolute strongest of players, and the ability makes them able to be flexible. Dying doesn't mean instant doom. It also let's them be medics, in that they can run into an incredibly shitty situation to revive someone, and if they die it isn't a concern. The titans are both Strikers, but this is because the slam helps them get out of bad situations throughout the raid, and there really isn't a fight where the shield is a better "oh shit" button. Our hunters (me being one of them) change spec based on the fight.

For the gate, we go Bladedancer so that we can quickly move to other sections, clear out minotaurs/goblins/whatever, but Gunslinger is just as viable here. Do what you want. For the Templar, I think Bladedancer is best during the opening sections of the fight. Once you get to the actual boss battle, I suggest Gunslinger because ideally your relic holder should be killing all the harpies, and if they miss a couple they aren't hard to kill, so you really never should need to Bladedance your way to freedom. Gunslinger's super is great for clearing extra harpies across the room, killing oracles, and hitting the boss as well.

For the maze, go Bladedancer. Invisibility is awesome here. For Atheon, see the above.

Lemme know if you have any questions, although I'm not the most versed player, I've cleared the raid twice on Normal, almost cleared it the first week it was out (got to Atheon) and plan on starting Hard mode in a week or two once our lower level players hit level 28. I've also got WoW progression experience if that means anything.
