Some games at 900p look ok.
Black Flag was not one of them. There was a night and day difference pre and post patch.
So that explains why you pre ordered it. I still don't think it takes out my entire post.So there's that ^
People act like this is a horrible case of anti consumerism. It isn't.
It's stupid. But that's about it.
Wouldn't surprise me. That's a MS-comarketed game too, I believe.
Claim of parity with games before and everyone says yeah right fanboy conspiracy....
Developer admits parity and people are still in denial.
shocking post
This thread right now:
People who realize its anti-consumer action: "This is bullshit"
PC elites: "Sucks to be you guys. Running it at 1440p. "
Phil Spencer/People who only have an Xbox/Fanboys/don't get it: "Why is everyone overreacting? Why does the resolution matter that much?"
Chill? Reminds me of the "rational" gamers that were saying chill after the X1 reveal and DRM plans.
No. Don't chill. Raise hell in a constructive manner. Spread the word. Cause a stink. Let Ubi feel the heat, just like MS felt it after seeing the preorder numbers when word got out about their original plans...
First Crystal Dynamic's /Tomb Raider and now seemingly Ubisoft/Assassins creed. It really is getting dirty.
oh god it's happening again

5-8% of the populace.
So many delusional people sticking up for bullshit yet again. This shit depresses me so much. You people are singing consumer rights away a bit at a time every time you defend garbage policies like these.
Didn't Cerny say that the PS4 was designed so that the GPU could be used to offload some of the CPU stuff? If I remember correctly, this was something that the developers would learn to do when they were more familiar with the hardware?
I'm pretty sure I remember hearing this in one of the conferences he gave.
Came expecting some discussion of the CPU-bound explanation.
My expectations were wayyyyy too high :/
Increasing resolution can impact the framer ate. If true, continue.
Increasing CPU load can impact the frame rate. If true, continue.
Assume program is CPU bound. This means any more load will reduce the frame rate below acceptable target.
Assume GPU is not at 100% capacity.
If you now increase the GPU load by increasing resolution, frame rate will now drop below acceptable levels.
Therefore, it is possible that this particular program cannot be run at a higher resolution even though its GPU is not being used to max effect.
But it is more fun to meltdown and post gifs of money.

You do realize that Assassin's Creed tend to sell around 10 million copies. Even if every person on Gaf was a portion of that and decided not to buy a game, they would be losing like 2% of their sales at most. And obviously we care about this stuff a lot more here than the mainstream consumers do.
That makes no sense. That's not a calculated risk. There was no incentive for him to say that, the guy just put his foot in his mouth. Social media are unpredictable and there's no business person worth their salt that would say in 2014 "well, it will die in 2 hours". No one knows and no one wants to find out how much a misstep would cost them. It's entirely likely they figured GAF would overreact like usual. I highly doubt they give much of a shit about this thread.
Something tells me you could benefit from some fresh air and a walk in the park or something. You in particular seem to be taking this way too personally.
This is not the end of the world. It's one publisher deciding to do one thing with one game.
There is absolutely no sign that other publishers will follow suit.
blah blah blah blah blah blah.
I know stroking off to PCs is a thing but this has nothing to do with this topic.
Uh yeah they were, maybe bigger .. until much much later in the generation. The gap between PS360 games was never as big as PS4/XB1. .
So basically this game's CPU optimization on PC is going to be shit.
It isnt, looking a few feet away at a computer screen you can see the slightly more blurry image of 900p vs 1080p depending on the game (the new lord of the rings games the 900p difference is less pronounced due to the AA method).
When viewing from 5-8ft in 40'' tv I cant tell the difference between 900p vs 1080p, It is less of a difference then many PS3 vs 360 games, that did have noticeable problems when viewing from 5-8ft on a 40'' tv.
The only games that have a big as a difference as 360 vs ps3 games is cod ghosts BF4 and MGS:GZ.
360 was the defacto multiplat console to go to last gen. Where a lot of games did have noticeable graphical shortcomings on the PS3 version which did make it a less enjoyable experience
This gen its not the case aside from cod ghosts and to a lesser extent BF4 and MGS:GZ .
Bottomline is when i watch the DF + gamesyde videos of recent games on my gaming TV I can only see the difference when the pointed out to me, going back and forth between X1 and PS4 videos I cant tell the difference.
So that explains why you pre ordered it. I still don't think it takes out my entire post.
Whatever, I'll just continue to sit on the sideline and watch the show.
Yep. Its not parity, its parody. What I'm hearing " Don't buy our game because we can't be bothered to optimize the game for your console"
