Can someone explain faction rep to me? I have been wearing an arm band from the faction located by the speaker, where do I see how much rep I have occurred with this faction? I can't seem to find it in my menu's. Also, while wearing this arm band, do I still acquire faction rep with the Vanguard? I don't seem to be leveling up with this faction.
I have all these "marks" but can't spend them due to not being level 2. Man, this game makes me feel dumb sometimes.

it's useless to anyone over 26 who wants to hit 30. those under may make use of it, but then they'll be matching the 28s and 29s in crucible who have more defense and attack.

When wearing a faction class item, all rep goes to that faction including Vanguard. I think you can only see what level you are if you go talk to the guy who sells shit.

you can check your faction status and how many points needed to move up a rank on the destiny app or bungie's website when you login.
When you wear any piece of item from a faction you'll get points for them. Unless you stay with the vanguard faction (which is default) you won't get any points towards them if represent another faction.
Ok, I'll be home at 3. Maybe I should run the NF first for the xp bonus... if I do that I'll be ready by 4 at the latest.

Well, Thorn has only 6 shots before an excruciatingly long reload time, even for a HC. I usually pair it with at least a pair of HC reload boosting gloves to compensate, but you just kind of have to adjust your style a bit for the reload pacing. The upside to this is it can be specced to have very high stability, and it already has a quite high rate of fire for a HC.
DOT with Thorn is interesting, as far as I can tell it stacks per bullet hit. So, on a full health opponent (generally) I can get the kill with 3 body shots + DOT. Or 1 body shot + 1 head shot + DOT. But I've also dropped people at a close-mid range with only 2 headshots and no DOT needed. This is probably because of the armor piercing rounds it has as well.
The DOT will take about 1/8 of a health bar per bullet after a total time of 2-3 seconds (it does a number of very small damage points over that period). But that's just a guess based on my usage, nothing actually tested accurately. Usually though, it's a safe bet that you'll get the kill if you can get the opponent down to less than a 1/4 health with Thorn. Even if the try to get cover they'll just die from DOT.
Consistency-wise, I haven't had an issue with Thorn's DOT, but it wasn't a very good HC until I put in the upgrades

Good luck as a level 20-24'er in the Iron Banner man. Still gonna play though, get to rank 3, buy the chest 10 times and shard all of them. Unless Bungie doesn't allow that, again.

I have the HC gear fully upgraded already for my TLW. With my reg/dealy issues I often find players surviving at around 1/4 health even if I hit them square (on my screen at least) with 6-8 bullets. This may actually help.

I thought the level damage only mattered when you're below enemy level, once you're same or above (lvl 26 for Raid) enemy level, you do same damage regardless, correct?

Lot of quitting already. I guess you just have to hope your team gets off to a good start so you don't end up getting abandoned by your teammates.
Hopefully Bungie will fix this pretty quick and give at least a little reputation to the losing team.

They need to add armor set bonuses or something to set the legendary armor apart from each other more, iron banner stuff is useless to most higher level players

Exactly. Wearing a full set of iron banner or queen armor should give you a defense bonus. Then again, you can't even get a full set with how Bungie is bottomfeeding us at the moment.
