Another good episode Talbot not really being Talbot was as obvious as they wanted it to be... Pretty freakin' obvious. Glad the show is moving along at a decent pace. May on May action, yowza, holy crap she's 50, ect ect.

I was actually sad that "Talbot" was Hydra. I like Pasdar a lot but wasn't too hot on his Talbot in the first season, now I love him. It's too much fun to see him and Coulson fuck with each other and I await the inevitable episode where they're trapped in a Hydra base together and have to team up.

A little bit filler, but fun filler that managed to explore the relationship between May and Coulson a bit more.

And the best fight sequence that the show has had I think.

Show really has stepped it up a lot since last season.

This show is now very good, all four episodes were of a high quality. And I agree with the people who already mentioned it, it blows my mind that Ming Na Wen is 50 years old. I mean, I literally said goddamn.

Yeah I was bummed when I thought he was legit Hydra, felt like it was a waste to make all of SHIELD's foils into Hydra agents, I liked him being a government man, and not actually evil. Was relieved when it turned out to be a disguise.

Well, ABC has higher ratings standards than the CW. Flash's premiere beat AoS in 18-49 last week, DVR numbers will again be interesting as will where Flash and AoS go from here.

-Those too-small glasses make Whitehall look terrifying.
-Lots of accents in this show now: the Hydra agent, Hunter, Fitz, and Simmons.
-Tripp didn't even make a reference to his grandparents this episode, and wasn't part of the bonding scene.
-Talbot not being Talbot might be more obvious in a rewatch, but then again not-May could've pulled it off if Coulson didn't know her so well.
-Hydra knows Coulson is director now.
-Where did they find a hanger in Miami for the Bus? Did they just rent an empty one for a couple days?
-"Yes Hunter, the entire world knows what you mean."
-Apparently May misheard when Coulson said "take me Outback and do what you have to do."
-Yeah, tie May to a bar stool.

Another good episode, I'm glad AoS is keeping that momentum from the latter part of last season. I do wonder, however, if Marvel is going to end up keeping the status quo post-Avengers and (just speculation)
kill Coulson a second time just to avoid complications in case AoS ends up getting canceled

It was a bit filler-ish but it had enough character development (well... at least for this kind of show) to keep it meaty. A filler-ish episode last season would've felt meandering, purposeless and pointless - this one felt dynamic, self-referential and, most of all, confident. I think that's one of the main virtues of AoS' second season so far: they seem to have finally found its footing. They are, in a way, having their cake and eating it too: there's still some sort of monster-of-the-week structure (Blizzard last week, the painting) but it all feels like a part of a plan that's building onto something, week after week. A larger arc that hasn't devoured the MOTW elements that were, for better or worse, the hallmark of the early part of the series.

And boy, character development was good this week. May was, for most of last season, sort of shallow, a female equivalent to Gruffbeard McBackstab: stand there, be stoic, kick ass (or, at least, we tell the audience you kick ass without showing it). Thankfully, this episode shows us a bit of a different side of May - and that allows Ming Na Wen to step out of that "comfort" zone. May's party acting was great (gotta love that "my face hurts") and then we finally see what her relationship with Coulson means for her. She might not be much of a talker
and Skye hilariously points that out
but we know how much she values Coulson.

And boy, that fight scene was great. Not only we get two Mays duking it out, but the coreography was (finally!) up to snuff this time. Kevin Tancharoen did a very good job directing this episode and I'd love to see him return for another action-filled adventure later on. Fight scenes during last season were often (rightfully) criticized for feeling "light" and weightless -much like the series itself- but Tancharoen's direction during this episode gave us a complex and exciting brawl between two Agents that looked and felt good. More of that, please.

I think the obvious weak point of the episode was the subplot. Barely any high stakes (they're obviously not gonna kill most of the main cast and obviously poor old Fitz will save the day) but the character development part of it was the only thing needed. I guess the writers had to think of a way to get Fitz to finally bond with his new teammates but couldn't get to write a very strong one without changing the rest of the episode... so they had to compromise. Oh well, at least we get a nice scene and Fitz starting improve. And Mr. Trainspotting there with some good bro-advice: "her loss then, mate... from what I can see, she's missing out".

And good lord, Daniel Whitehall it's fucking menacing. It's a far cry from the delightful scenery-chewing of John Garrett (and, like I already said once, it seems Adrian Pasdar's Talbot is his heir apparent in that regard) - Whitehall feels creepier and more deranged the more understated he is. Chillingly effective.

So yeah... keep up the good work Agents of SHIELD. Next week looks like another winner.

You know, I think that was the first Shield fightscene that I genuinely enjoyed. Almost everything up to this point just felt just really uninspired in terms of choreography and blandly shot. This actually was kind of decent.

I actually chuckled a bit when the scene went into bullet time for the table slam.

I wonder if Ming-Na is either of the performers there, or if it's just two stuntwomen.

Stuntwomen for certain. There's way too much that could go wrong for either person for them to use her in that shot.

Good episode, this season has been pretty good so far. Loved the fight, some fantastic choreography, really hope whoever they got to do it sticks around. Easily one of the best fights in a TV show.

Also liked the face mask thing, but I hope it's not overused. Keep it a minimum, please.

I really liked how Fitz called out the bitch Simmons is.

I don't understand this line of thinking at all. She's on assignment. An assignment that no one else on the team could do as everyone else was either too valuable (Skye's history as an 084, Coulson being Director) or their expertise is in combat, which would put them in the field actively killing and capturing for Hydra.

Whitehall is a great villain so far. I wholeheartedly agree with Altazor:

A great, nasty, creepy villain.

The fight scene in this episode were fantastic, big step-up from the beginning of the first season. Though by the season finale, they had the baller nailgun fight.

May was hysterical this episode. I wanna see more of that. "My face hurts." and everyone's reaction to her acting was great. I wanna see more Phil/May couple undercover stuff.

Boy, Phil is super-concerned he's gonna go insane, huh.

Fitz opening up was good stuff by the end. Good to see Discount Dwayne Johnson is still chilling with him.
