Can't stop staring at this eyesore. Thanos da king.

I'm REALLY excited that they made Thor 3 after all, especially if we get Surtur as a villain. Thor has one of the best villain lineups in Marvel aside from Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four.

Imagine if they (Ragnarok comic spoilers)
have Thor rip Loki's head off and wear it on his belt the rest of the movie.
I don't know if the fangirls will survive.

I posted this in the other topic but I think it bears repeating...

#2426

After my excitement has subsided, I'm kind of starting to play Devil's Advocate on this. One of the main reasons why the MCU has been so successful has been because the movies are SO GOOD. There's been 1-2 missteps (Incredible Hulk, arguably Iron Man 2), but basically everything has been top-notch, even GOTG which I thought could be the first real MCU bomb. (got proven seriously wrong on that one...)

But now, Marvel is blowing their absolute load with Phase 3, which will feature a whopping 9 MOVIES (10 if you count Ant-Man, which has apparently been folded into phase 2) and a whopping 2-3 films a YEAR. As excited as I am about this, I'm a little worried that Marvel Studios might be overwhelmed here, and 1-2 of the movies might end up being complete stinkers, which unfortunately could hurt other films in the franchise as well. Fortunately, Marvel Studios has done a good job with making good movies first and then working them into the MCU second, so I hope that continues. But Marvel might be relying on too many new characters (four of which have never been in a film before) which might alienate moviegoers. I know it's hard to believe, but Marvel isn't making these movies for us comic fans...it was the general public that made Avengers the #3 movie of all time, and that's who Marvel needs to focus on. I just worry they may be going too far, too fast.

If they had no team movie to reel it all in with every few years maybe i'd agree, but they do have team movies , and those really change up how this all works. The film where people who previously get a full movie about them become part of a great cast. Keeps it fresh because every solo film is building to an ensemble one. That also keeps fans asking for another character or story from an established one.

I WANT MY ARMOR WARS MAHVEL

Avengers split in 2 parts

Surely a last minute decision made in panic when it was revealed that Justice League would be 2 parts.

will be in theater day one for almost all of these

I like that they basically said 'fuck it' and just went whole hog on it. Full details all over the jam. I think Boseman can handle it.

Nothing on Captain Marvel yet, casting wise. All we know is it's Danvers and she's stuck between two worlds. I think she's the bridge between Guardians/Avengers
Oh really...

I like that gaf (and the internet) guessed a lot of these plans. But wow, still, huge news. Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and especially that Thor 3 will be Ragnarok.

I hope the third Thor movie makes up for how lightweight the first two were.

Man, I really need to read some Black Panther stuff. Any recommendations?
Christopher Priest's run and the Secret Invasion tie-in, "See Wakanda and Die" written by Jason Aaron. He was also in some issues of Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four & Future Foundation run so it's worth checking them out too.

They've known Avengers 3 was their grand finale for the Thanos and Infinity Gauntlet storyline that's been running since Phase 1. I'm sure they had two parts in mind since the last Harry Potter film was split in two.

Sorry I meant power up. As it stands, he would stand little chance fighting in an 'infinity war' without some sort of boost.
I also think Thor needs to inherit the Odinforce at some point

I'm assuming Thor will be the only Asgardian revived after the events of Ragnarok and he will be fighting against Thanos with the Odinforce. Probably not going to appear in Part 1.

my worry is that they will be too afraid of killing of any of their own major heroes (like Iron Man, Thor, etc.) because it would make it harder to make use of those same characters later on in the same universe.
No new solo Iron Man movie so they must think that franchise has run it's course and they're ready to move on after Civil War. But they don't have to kill him off. Anybody can be in the suit as a lesser cameo role.

Even if they do, you know how it works in the comics. Killing somebody off is never permanent.

Emily Blunt for Captain Marvel because she's actually good at acting and has screen presence like crazy.

Want proof? Watch Edge of Tomorrow.

I didn't know I wanted this. Now I know I want this.

Emily Blunt for Captain Marvel, pls. She was awesome in EoT.

Comic book characters don't demand paychecks

So these guys are basically going to be invincible.... prove me wrong, marvel

I don't want the tone to get too dark either so I'd rather they not go on a killing spree with their characters.

Is it safe to assume GOTG's total success (as a risky "lesser known property) has made Marvel very sure of the MCU brand and all gung-ho about making new properties with lesser known characters?

If we get through GOTG2 and Thor 3 without Beta Ray Bill I will be upset.

Horse Thor is best Thor.
