Since apparently this has to be posted in every thread:

Just to bury this once and for all:

"I said I directed last year and I really responded to it; I really enjoyed it and I'd love to focus a little more on that... By no means am I planning on retiring. It's kind of a silly statement."

"By no means am I planning on retiring," he said, calling his previous comments "kind of a silly statement". By way of caveat, he added: "I certainly am going to try and focus a bit more on directing at this point."

"If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing. I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do."

Good, I hope he renews his contract and sticks around. He's my favorite thing about the MCU at this point.

The schedule was updated.

justice league in november doesnt make sense...i think its been swapped with wonder woman

Something that's very confidence-inducing is the notion that Scott is working really hard on making the special effects in Strange something special. I've always thought that the success of the character would hinge on how cool looking his sorcery is, and I'm glad to hear that it's at least in their heads.

Civil War is kind of the opposite right now though. Where does this leave Crossbones and The Winter Soldier? Do they help catalyze the split? Where do BW and potentially Hawkeye and Hulk come in? I mean, I know it's Civil War, but it's a lot to juggle regardless.

Here's a video with the Russo brothers addressing Civil War just a month ago.. they don't seem to be too hot on it despite some of those requirements being covered by stuff like BP and AoU.

This needs to stop being spread around. He doesn't want to get out of acting. He just wants to direct more. He's fine with playing Captain America but he said that he wants to only act in NEW future movies that he directs (not connected to current stuff). He said it's not definite either but he really wants to direct.

I don't know why's people continue to propagate this falsehood. It's been debunked over and over.

Hard to really say who'd make a good Captain Marvel without knowing much about the tone or atmosphere Marvel is going for for the movie.

With it being sandwiched between the Infinity Wars 2 parter and Feige exclaiming that it will bridge earth and the galactic side together, I'm expecting some sort of gritty space adventure with a lot of earth action. Starbuck would be great for that type of film as I expect them to make Carol a hardass war vet who has seen some shit after AoU, Cap 3, and Infinity Wars Part 1.

Then again, I absolutely love Katheryn Winnick from Vikings. Of course age will always be a factor considering she'd be over 40 by the time this movie comes out. But with her being such an IRL badass, I don't think it'll be that much of a problem. She looks way younger than her age.

I doubt we see a casting for this role until 2016 anyways so there could always be a fresher young face, unless Marvel wants Carol as a cameo in one of the earlier movies (Strange, Cap 3, Black Panther)?

Well his contract ends with avengers 3, right? So I don't think they'd kill him off in Cap 3.
I'm betting he dies in Cap 3 and Bucky takes the mantle. Thor eats it in Infinity War 1, but in Part 2, he wakes up in Niffleheim in front of Hela where he also finds Steve. Then, promising to bring Hela a greater prize in Thanos, they bargain their way back for a final battle. And at that point, either the actors' contracts are renewed or not, meaning they can either go back to Hela or they are back for good.

The two that really shouldn't be releasing anywhere near eachother are Infinity War Part 2 and Justice League Part 2. Both will be absolutely massive. We'll likely see Darkseid and Thanos both wrecking fools in the same summer, what a great time for comic fans.

Black Panther vs Justice League.......and Justice League 2 vs Avengers 3.2?

Dear God
It's gonna be a goddamn bloodbath.

DC does realize that they're fucked if BvS isn't as huge as they're expecting, right? Still, assuming it goes well, Black Panther may have to move to an earlier date.

I dunno man. Feige was acting all tough in the Q&A saying he doesn't care what others are doing, they don't plan on moving any dates. That's why they claimed them so early.

He sort of has to say that, but I believe him

BvS is gonna be huge pretty much no matter what. What they really need to do is make sure its good.

Snyder has his work cut out for him.

Holy fucking shit, I do NOT envy him at all.

And that's why I love Kevin Feige. He has 10x bigger balls than
Black Lagoon's
Rock.

Still, it's a great time to be a comic book nerd, regardless of which side you're on.

He basically stated that they claim dates so early even with unannounced titles so people know to clear out

Not sure why people are acting like this is a big milestone for the african american community when there has already been several Super hero movies with black leads including the one that single handidly kicked off the Marvel age of movies:

One step at a time. They're moving forward with several projects and I'm sure their announced stuff is being slowly developed, just like with Marvel, but while Marvel's commitment is pretty solid, WB has the capacity to cancel a lot of the more distant projects if they don't see the investment paying off.

It's not even a matter of whether or not their films will make money, they're gonna make money guaranteed, but they may pare things down so they get the best bang for their buck and then invest in other unrelated projects. BvS is guaranteed to bring in considerable revenue but the size of the payoff will likely determine whether they double down on their current strategy or revise their schedule.

But either way, it's not a DC vs Marvel thing. WB has to keep an eye on Marvel's dates because they're the current box office juggernaut but that applies to pretty much every hollywood studio. Other than a soft form of emulation with their team movies, I don't think anything Marvel does has much impact on WB outside of movie scheduling.

That's what I meant by huge. It's gonna break the bank, but the DCCU is fucked if BvS isn't any good.

I think it'll be fine. People play up the "Marvel vs DC" thing too much. The mainstream doesn't give a shit about that stuff. Most of my friends that like movies like Captain America or Avengers also liked Man of Steel. And DC still has a ton of goodwill due to how well received Nolan's TDK trilogy was. People loved those movies. I sometimes wonder if the success of Marvel is actually a GOOD thing for DC and Fox with Xmen, makes the general public more receptive to comic book movies in general and just gets people hyped to see more of them.

A testament to how powerful the Mahvel Hype Train has become. Imagine how much money Marvel & Disney will make from Avengers: Infinity War merchandise. Holy Shit!

Only problem is that will there be an over saturation point for comic book movies with all of these cinematic universes being pushed? I mean 2017 has like 8 movies. I wouldn't be surprised if they peak in a few years. Although 2015 has barely anything.

I hope they don't nerf Dr Strange.

spoilers, they will.

Thor got hit with a massive nerf. Without his hammer in the MCU he probably wouldn't even be able to take out Hawkeye in a 1v1.

Real Thor would kill would him. It would look worse than the Sentinels vs Mutants in Days of Future Past

If only this costume was possible in the MCU

Alas, i will live with the new suit, i just wonder if they will give her the combat helmet as well, if she is introduced in Guardians of the galaxy 2 i guess she would be using the combat helmet.....but i like her without, the weird hairstyle she has without the helmet is damn fine.

Who do you think would be on each side? Both Cap and Iron Man have shown to have some distrust in authority, first Iron Man refusing to give the Iron Man tech to the government, and then everything Cap went through in Winter Soldier. Will be interesting to see how they make it work.

Also Iron Man hacking the entire SHIELD database in The Avengers.

I dont really see a point if shes not really going to to go to space till much later with the Guardians i guess.

That's a stupid suit. It's basically a dominatrix outfit. They can do much better for their first female-lead movie.

I dunno man... I look at Guardians of the Galaxy and think that red rectangle is now a seal of quality/license to print money no matter what name is under it.

I didn't say it wasn't. I'm saying it's not an either/or for the general public. They aren't picking sides. They'll go watch Avengers and they'll also go watch Batman and Justice League. If anything, watching Avengers might put them in more of a mood to see Batman and Justice League. The pie is big enough for everyone. Easily.

I think the success of marvel is a good thing for DC and Fox, people like to see them fight, but they are both making a shitton of money, with them making that money it then is pushed into the movies to get incredible visuals and better actors and so on.

It should'nt be a competition to fans, we should all just be happy they are willing and will make these stories. Who would have thought 5-7 years ago they would ever make a black panther movie? 5-7 years ago they would ever make a suicide squad movie? I love it, more things to discuss and talk about with friends and people around the world, it is just a fun time to be a comic book/superhero movie fan.

I'm just saying that the guys in my family who know nothing about comics are now acutely aware that there are Marvel Studios movies and then movies by other production companies and can name which is which. ( and I had nothing to do with it)
They might see something like Ant-Man and not be interested but as soon as they see it's MCU all-of-a-sudden they want to give it a chance.

And whether the pie is big enough or not depends on how the releases are spaced.

WTF, I been out all day since the news, so I haven't been following the thread, but I hope that's not the case lol,

they announced the film n actor and showed a concept art. Nothing is done yet.

Because Blade isn't a superhero.

WTF

The one thing that worries me is the possibility of Civil War killing off Cap. I know Evans has wanted to get out of acting for a while, and I hope that's not what this means.

Cap is one of my favorite Marvel characters, and he's BARELY had enough time to breathe and become the Captain America we know from the comics. I'm fine with him being killed off at some point, just not yet. We just haven't had enough time with him.

Well he'll have been in about seven movies by that time. That's one less then the amount of harry potter flicks. Seems like a lot.

Everybody can agree that they should kill off Cap and let Us agent take over.
