Ubisoft launches live blog to address AC Unity issues, next update detailed

Is that a joke ?

Those crowds don't just ruin the framerate, they are absolutely NOT functional.

You think it's K to have their animations literally glitching every second, as well as swapping textures PERMANENTLY and dropping their shadows randomly depending on your camera angle ?

Never have I seen a game ruining its own immersion so much before.

Keep them on PC sure, but at this point there is no way in hell they fix this mess on ps4, so getting rid of some of them is the only solution.

Oh and it kills the framerate, too.

Ah, didn't know they caused that many problems on PS4. I love the huge crowds on PC anyway, so yeah, I hope they don't reduce them there.

This is how it should work in this case. They acknowledge issues with the game and work to fix it. So as much as people would like to shit on Ubisoft some more, this announcement is only a good thing.

Don't release broken things. Ubisoft deserve the shit they are getting.

There's no way most of these weren't reported to them in testing. How the heck do they not know about frame rate issues?

And of course they call it a live blog as if they are getting breaking news and they had no clue about these so they'll keep in touch omg

They knew about framerate issues months back. I cant say how but they were aware 100%.

I have not played this game nor do I ever plan to

But base on the videos and gamers feedback, looks like I played some beta with less issues lol

Must suck to pay $65+ for a beta.

The fact that people like you, and so many others, forget what EA did before is pretty saddening.

Do people easily forget that EA does this in cycles? Remember when they had the initiative to release new unique games like Dead Space, and Mirror's Edge? People were also saying they learned from their mistakes.... then we got Dead Space 3, Mass Effect 3, BF4....hell even the BF: Hardline is utter garbage - it's a lazy mans mod, because why give modding to the community who could do a better job, gotta get that BF money.

EA is no better than Ubisoft, EA is just on a cycle, so is Ubisoft. They haven't learned anything, they just learned how far they can push before the consumer pushes back, and they will keep doing it to see how far they can get away with certain things. EA and Ubisoft will never change, they will also do what's best for the company, not what would be in the best interest of the consumer, because you know $$$.

It's a rare breed to find a game developer who actually cares about the consumer, even a little bit, and is becoming more and more of a rarity. Which is a damn shame. I understand companies need to make money and it's all about profits, but sometimes in all of that shit show the consumer has to be remembered, otherwise you are going to be left with nothing one day.

Yes EA should also not be forgotten for all the shit they pulled BF4 is one of those purchases i regretted and Sim City that i got for my birthday back then what a mess. They haven't learned BF Hardline is another thing on my mind why is this being made? Ubisoft is another one that doesn't do quality but quantity for there games with that you get nothing but broken games witch you paid full price for.

Because they know idiots would buy it anyway. They got your money now they might fix some game breaking issues at their own pace.

And then go out of their way to defend Ubi. And then commend Ubi on being a stand-up company for annoucing that they'll fix the game that they knowingly released in an unfinished or broken state.

Move over EA, you are now the good guys.

We still remember BF4

That's not even a good joke. EA is like the big brother that pretends to be in rehab. Ubisoft is the little bro that just went straight for coke and acts delusional when confronted.

This is really shady shit. They release a broken game, defer the reviews, then come out with a blog saying "Hey look guys dont worry we're going to fix it."

Everyone who bought it should be entitled to a refund, they likely are here.

Wow, this analogy is perfect. EA pretends to be the good guys by occasionally realesing some 10 year old game for free, and Ubisoft just went straight to hiding reviews, day one dlc, and the worst optimisation in history.

Not surprised... For some reason Ubisoft sucks at optimization and Q&A. Especially when the pc platform is concerned. They wont get the message til people stop buying their games.

Even though the PC version is the only decently playable one, this time around.
Also "for some reason" = Having to shit one AC game out every year (two, if you count Rogue) no matter its state.

Probably said a 100 times already, but they really had no choice. I love how they acted like we are the one that discovered all this shit, like it totally went past their QA team.

I still think they made some decisions with crowds that are far too demanding from these consoles, and I can't wait to see their patch, because I just don't believe it will make much of a difference.

I must admit, it is quite amusing to watch this unfold while not having bought their products for years and suffering along the way

I've bought many of their products and still find all this amusing.
Then again the only two times i really felt burned, was with AC3 and Watch Dogs, and i paid Watch Dogs chump change so whatever.

Splinter Cell Blacklist was among my favorite games, last year, so i'm glad i got that one.

not to defend them but its running at 900p

And it's FAR from running at 30 FPS on ps4.

And if you add the pop in of models and textures, you have one of the worst game ever made, technically.

I'm not kidding, just standing around the crowd and you can see them shake and reload models and textures, every fucking second. They have LOW MED and HIGH poly, problem being that they shake when they reload, and they do that in the worst possible manner, right in front of you or in plain sight. This should NEVER happen. So ok if it's only a little it's not too noticeable. Now applicate that horror to their "thousands of npcs" and all you see is a glitch, permanently. And the reload also glitches their animations most of the time.

All that while not able to run at stable 30 (besides classic drops and actual freeze), at 900p. So you sure as hell "defended them".

Played this at a buddy's house, but haven't picked it up yet as too many other games have released that were higher priority for me. Hopefully they get the shit worked out by the time I'm ready to dive in. I want to play this game, but it doesn't seem to be in a state worth doing so just yet.

It's pretty obvious that the suits wanted this game to come out in November, come hell or high water, but the shit just wasn't ready. I can imagine the devs and creative types sweating bullets in the weeks leading up to release and just knowing that they weren't going to have enough time and there was nothing they could do about it. Those two extra weeks obviously weren't enough for a game of this size and scope.

As shitty as it is, I still have to appreciate the ambition and artistry put into this game, not to mention all the gameplay improvements. It's sad that the technical issues at the moment are overshadowing all that when it should be being celebrated.

Hopefully, this clusterfuck will make them think twice about pushing games out too early. AC is their golden goose and they need to treat it a lot better than rushing out an unfinished product.

We are currently working on our next update that will help address some of the specific issues some players are having, including:
Arno falling through the ground.
Game crashing when joining a co-op session.
Arno getting caught inside of hay carts.
Delay in reaching the main menu screen at game start.

I don't know why but that made me chuckle.

i'm shocked at you neogaf, some of you are now defending and praising ubisoft because they said they are patching a broken game that millions just paid full price for.
This whole thing has been a mess and i'm amazed that anyone could be on ubisoft's side.
they released a broken game, they should at the very least patch it and patch it quickly as some people paid full price for this and the retail value is dropping fast every single day
(at least in uk it does)

So the very first update didn't fix shit, a second update fixes some things but we will wait for more major update for the bigger issues to be fixed... by then the game will be at half the price. next two Assassin's Creed will be out, and in need of fixing.

Good luck Ubi. I'm counting on you I guess.

Fixed it for you (in a timely manner, to boot).

In addition, we are already looking into many of the other issues you’ve told us about and we have more updates planned. This list doesn’t capture everything, but here are the most widely-reported problems we’ve heard about from you:

•Frame rate issues.
•Graphical and collision issues

So now they want to look into this?..I just don't understand this part. While they were showing previews on X1/PS4 you telling me their shit was smooth, no glitches, perfect frame...etc?

or they were aware of the issues and had no time to fix it ?

One thing that truly baffles me, is the insistence of forcing so many npcs into the engine, given the fact that the "crowd-tech" always suffered from obvious pop-in/ LOD issues.

Even in the fully scripted and controlled environment of the E3 single player vertical slice of gameplay, the pop-in was very noticeable and consistent.

This brings me to believe that this is an inherent flaw deeply embedded within the coding of the engine itself. Which again drives me to question the implementation of the excessive numbers in the first place.
I understand the scenario most likely has been centered around the decisions of marketing-minded higher ups, yet I fail to grasp the rationale behind making an executive call, that inevitably will have a severely detrimental effect on the public perception, of not only the specific product in question, but the overall value of your brand in general.

Man you just gotta LOVE how they pretend they didn't see the shit framerate.
Like it's a case by case thing.

"Whoops, it was 60fps on our machine, must be a problem with yours, have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?"

Well put. Prioritizing an ultimately superfluous bullet point over reasonable performance and stability is, as you said, baffling. I can only imagine there must have been at least one high level person insisting on hitting that 5,000 number, but we'll never know.

I hope the posters that were defending this train wreck feel ashamed of themselves now that Ubi themselves have come out and acknowledged the litany of issues. I saw posts in the PC performance thread that were shocking in their gushing praise of the game and apologetics for it.
