Steam "Exploration Sale" -- i.e. Autumn Sale -- now live (November 26 - December 2)

Damn it, I just bought Shadowgate on Monday for my brother and its on sale. D'oh
It was 66% off over the weekend though.

Castlevania LOS "Ultimate" is $7.49 (is this good? I don't know), LOS2 is $9.99 (lowest apparently), BIT:TRIP Collection (every game) is $4.99.
Starts off pretty mediocre. Then starting with the first "world" boss it's starting to get a bit interesting, and the middle third is alright. Then it all goes to shit for the last third again. And the DLC is plain awful.

The environment art is the game's one redeeming quality, there's some really cool-looking scenery.

Thanks OP.

Wolfenstein is half price. Should I wait for a daily?

As much as I want to jump on that Evil Within deal, I'm going to try to exercise some self-restraint until the Holiday sale since I already have plenty of games to play. You hear that wallet, don't add to the backlog. Who am I kidding, I will probably buy something at some point *sigh* Vanishing of Ethan Carter any good?

No, there's still the Winter Sale

Also, there's no Spring Sale. It's the one season of the year Valve ignores, although there was an Indie Sale last year.

Summer Sale: June/July. Runs for a week-and-a-half.
Halloween Sale: October. Replaces the usual Weekend Deals.
Autumn Sale: November. Runs for a week.
Winter Sale: December. Runs for two weeks.

Haven't bought anything in a Steam sale for this entire year, may have to bite on some <$5 games this time. Maybe I'll finally get Skullgirls.

I have a feeling I won't be buying anything this time round, I'm pretty sure I have everything. This is an excellent time to jump into Apache gaming though.

Valve have their annual Hawaii studio vacation during Spring, probably that's why. Didn't last year's Autumn sale have the flip page? Where people living in different region saw Autumn on top, Spring on the bottom and vice versa?

This thread reminded me that I pre-ordered Age of Mythology back when it was announced, and had no idea it ever actually came out.

Steam should hit you with a pop-up saying, "Yo! Download and play your shit!" when games finally come out.

Yeah, but I shouldn't need to note that discussions of seasonal sales is within the context of Valve's calendar. ;)

Whooa, this sale came outta nowhere.

It was actually announced like over a week in advance this year. I think it's the first time they officially announced when it would happen.

Going to scoop some games that have been on my wishlist for a while. I'll probably be more passive towards this sale but can't resist the decent price cuts on these newer titles.

For noobs: The Summer Sale and Winter Sale are the best possible options (broadest amount of stuff on sale, deepest discounts). Discounts get bigger the longer a game has been out, so if you don't think you're going to play something between now and the next sale, wait for the next sale (unless it's a licensed title or something that's probably going to be pulled). It's incredibly rare that anything gets a "best ever" sale unless it's a pricing error, so generally if you see a sale and are thinking about waiting, wait.

I know all of this seems like a buzzkill to someone who's knew to Steam and wants to build a library, but it's true. At some point you'll look at your backlog and say "wow, I dramatically overspent on all this stuff I haven't played".

Obviously if you want to buy something for any price, buy it. You're not an idiot for doing so. But the strategy that minimizes your chance of regretting a decision you made is to wait.

I completely forgot that they usually do a sale around this time of year. Nothing is sticking out on the dailies today but I recommend Crypt of the Necrodancer. It's still in early access but receives somewhat frequent updates.

Don't buy a game if you don't want to play it right now is my advice. It's not like this is the last sale ever. There will be more sales and bundles.

Makes sense. As someone who just bought his first PC, i appreciate the advice.

I have to say, I really hate the new Steam frontpage design. It's so fucking confusing, I'm always lost.

Also you have to scroll down to see the daily deal (when not during a special sale) which is really dumb.

No Salsa, no buy!

Nice thread btw =)

Just kidding, will still buy, but I miss Salsa.
