Except the game doesn't look rough for being 7-8 months out from release. The kind of things people are criticizing the footage for are characteristic of a game that is being shown in a pre-release state and is not content-ready.

well,if they show that, people comented about that, its simple it looks way worse than the reveal so its funny how you accuse other devs of bullshots when nintendo reveald the game with much better graphics

unexpected, but swet. of course they just wanted to show very little, just the map, open world, horse part, but everything was so good. can't wait to see the dungeon and enemy parts!

no,people are just having and opinion..just like you are doing now if the game looks rough..its looks rough..maybe u have a forced positive opinion no?

Since when does anyone expect an unfinished still-in-developed game nearly an ENTIRE YEAR from release to look like gold master ready to ship video game?

That is my primary issue against some of the things being in said in this topic.

It's like people are new to the concept of an unfinished game actually looking unfinished. Imagine that?

I agree. No unnessesary space. Just fill the available space with great stuff.
That's a premature statement to make, since there's no way we can asure is that way or the other. Seems like you are reacting to the typical, "it has lots of empty space" when discussing Zelda overworlds with actual land masses.
This looks fucking amazing, holy shit.
And that's it, it looks like a Zelda game with a bigger overworld like we alreaddy have in many many games.

At this stage in time im not impressed, i was hoping for them to show an integral mechanic or a clever use of the controller and we got nothing of the sort.

Visually speaking is already the most impressive WIi U title and the animation (at least for Link) exceeds what i expected.

Of course Nintendo is going to make some insanely impressive presentation for E3. It's the world's biggest gaming event, any publisher that didn't do that would be out of their minds. The spectacle of presenting the VERY FIRST look at your game HAS to be impressive. With that said, what was show at E3 was already said to be running in-engine. It's the actual game.

Graphically, and technically, this looks just as good as the E3 trailer. But this is a very different type of demonstration. It's a small peak into the full game in a pre-release state, not a trailer produced to impress and awe everyone for the very first time.

You're giving Nintendo a lot of credit.

I can look at the first Shadow of Mordor footage that was released, that didn't look at comparatively rough as this, and that footage released about 9 months before the game launched.

Bravo Nintendo Bravo!!

I was hoping that they would mention an F-Zero game as well at the end, but a Zelda game and a StarFix game in the same year holly hell

It's not unprecedented. Wind Waker's trailer from Space World in 2001 looks nothing like its finished product in 2002.

Apples and oranges, Shadow of Mordor simply doesn't even exist as a game without the elements that make it what it is. It's not the type of game that can just be "populated" with stuff later; if shown without the majority of its content already there, it would look grey and barren.

Further, the open-world aspects of Shadow of Mordor are nothing to write home about.

Zelda has very little to nothing to prove. It's a Zelda title, this is clearly a pre-release build being shown for the sake of saying "here, it exists, yes it's set in a huge open world".

Whoa, this looks very unlike a Zelda-game, in the best way possible. The overworld in this video for some reason shouted "ubisoft" at me, but I expect there to be a lot of Zelda-ness in the final product. I'm excited to see a Nintendo take on an overworld like this.

People are in for huge disappointment if you think tons of shit is going to be added to that world within a year. The last 6 months of dev from what I've read is dealing with tech shit, getting fps down, glitches etc. But the main content of the game is done already by that point.

I mean we'll see but it's not surprising people were underwhelmed. If you're gonna show gameplay show quests and stuff, if you're gonna show just tech demo shit then you're better off with a trailer instead.

Also it would be so amazing if they have weather effects on the landscape, rain, clouds, hail, snow and creeping mist morning mists.

Nintendo has very little to prove in terms of Zelda. If I were Aonuma, I wouldn't be sweating showing a tech demo, because fans of the series and the people who are interested in the game will get the takeaway here: it's still Zelda, with a huge, beautiful open world. Also, it's coming in 2015.

No, i'm just saying i like the world to feel alive and real (not photorealistic real, but believable and stuff). If that requires a smaller map, then fine.
Again, great examples are RDR and GTAV (the detail in those games make it feel alive). Ofcourse we've only seen a small part and some parts could very well be just grass, rock and some trees.
And the game is still in development. But from this video, i expected to see more detail and variation. I guees Mijamoto's comments on apples and wildlige imply there will be more of that when the game is finished. But hopefully there will be a bit more variation in colour. Trees, grass and bushes are now basicly one green colour. Little things like that. A bit more artdirection to make it more stunning.

Don't worry, i'm buying it anyway.

That scene with Link and Epona running with the other horses was stunning. I'm glad to see that the E3 trailer was gameplay and that level of quality in the animations are certainly there.

As always, the zelda cycle

Add "Skyward Sword was far too linear, there was no exploration and no space to breathe/ take in the environments and no room to explore."

and "Zelda U is too big and too empty based on 3 minutes of gameplay of a game thats a year away and has a bad rock texture at that one point "

and we are golden !

Nice. It's still looking good, but the big empty spaces are setting off small alarm bells. I don't want another Twilight Princess situation...

Even with that said, this is still looking miles better than what Skyward Sword looked like when we first saw gameplay from that game.

Please Nintendo and Aonuma, don't make the same stupid mistake you did with Wind Waker HD, I beg of you:

Give us the option to invert the Y axis in both FIRST and THIRD person perspectives!!! I feel dumb by just having to say this seeing how in every other damn game out there these options have been standard for almost a decade!

Why am I saying this? Because in WWHD you could change the Y axis only while in FP but NOT in TP!
Oh but what about the X axis? Well that one you could invert in TP but not in FP. And yes it is as stupid as it sounds.

Oh yes. Very important.

It wouldn't be a new 3d zelda without the bitching about some ground textures. ^^
Who cares if the lighting, the animations, the shadows, the grass, the trees, all looked awesome.. but have you seen the backside of that rock? Goddammit Nintendo, I guess I have to sell my wii u again!

I need new Direct Feed screens or footage NOWWWWW

Looks amazing.

The overworld is expansive, so it'll need stuff to do if it wants to avoid being boring (and maybe fast travel, spells etc?), but given that was something they just recently re-paced with Wind Waker, I'm not too worried.

The horses look great, love the way the manes bounce. I need a field FULL of wild horses.

Gimmicks. Stupid gimmicks everywhere.

I'm holding off my hype for this one because it really didn't look anything special, but I sincerely hope they can deliver!

Having only played WWHD, this looks really good. However, it does look a bit barren hopefully the world will be filled with a lot more content.
