I hope by the end of all this, they reveal that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are only half-siblings, and Quicksilver's father is an inhuman while Scarlet Witch's father is a demon. Let's go all the way with convoluted shit! Yeaaaaaah!!!

No, I just said it for the laffs. Yes, I've read them and I've never liked the concept, the characters or way they've been used. I mean, Black Bolt is basically the ultimate jobber in the 616. When somebody has to show they're really badass, they do bad things to Blackagar Boltogon (lol).
I can take the stupid "MAGNETO NOT YOUR FATHER" retcon for the sake of distancing from X-Men, I won't take the "not even mutants!" retcon because thats going against 50 years of story that says otherwise from stuff like Cerebro to straight up fucking medical testings.
Also, weekly reminder AXIS is a low point for comics stupidity over the past few years and its just a gigantic toilet at this point for shit to collect in.
The death of Ultimate Peter Parker and the Reboot of Tim Drake pretty much killed my interest in comics, came back briefly for Scarlet Spider..then I was done.

As a comic fan this is mildly irritating, but this is finally going to shut one of my mates up. He has been banging on about Scarlet witch and Quicksilver not being the true versions of the characters in Age of Ultron because of the Magneto connection and that they would be rubbish in the film. Can't wait to see his face when I tell him this.

DC had a very successful reboot in the late 80s and a blah one in the 2010s.
I'm one that really thinks the comics should be rebooted. They're getting harder and harder for newbies to pick up (though I will say that with the internet it's easier to look that information back up) and they're really getting away from their original, usually brilliant identities.

The "Not Mutants" comes off a little offensive when you think about it. Considering Marvel has always pushed the comparison between the Mutant struggle with the Civil Rights movement.

Not really, Quicksilver and Scrarlet Witch barely had anything to do with the stuggle. They always seemed above it. One might even call them New Mutants.
No, Rich Johnston is just full of shit here and posting his own speculation as fact.
Marvel did release the "No More Mutants" teaser image at NYCC, which could be interpreted that way, but they most certainly did not and have not "announced" any such thing. At least, not yet...

Man, I've been trying to get into the larger universe of Marvel, rather than just Iron Man. Marvel Heroes has me yearning for more. However reading about all of this makes me just not want to bother.
Getting into comics is more of a headache than it should be.

Wouldn't someone have noticed they weren't mutants in Age of Apocalypse? I know Wanda bites it early on, but Pietro is one of the main members of the XMen in that timeline. They have to be mutants.

I had no real issues with Miles and I loved Pichelli's art, decent character but I thought his support cast was very weak, his villains were meh, and every fight was finished with the same move (Venom Blast I think?)..I vaguely remember it also having a lot of problems with it's release schedule too, sometimes several months between issues?
Is
Peter back for good, or is it a fakeout? I recall the Ultimate Universe was meant to be all deaths are final...though they kinda screwed that early with Beast..
He still uses Venom Blast to win every fight (to ridiculous extents as of his latest one) and his support cast is just Ultimate Peter Parker's along with Lego-nerd and Miles's underutilized girlfriend. Plus, the writing has only gotten worse.
But then again: This is why I don't (mostly) pay attention to character background stories and the meta-plot. There's way too much bullshit and retcon-a-retcon's-retcon'ing for my taste.
Even if that's the case, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were already in Days of Future Past. Surely Fox can continue to use the characters, just rename/tweak their stuff.

It gives those who are getting into comics the perception that they were never mutants or Magneto's kids, thus making the ignorant ones believe Fox is messing with the source material more than they really are.
not sure where you're getting the "they aren't mutants" bit from. All Axis #7 says is that they aren't magneto's kids.
which isn't even that big of a deal, considering how long they went back and forth on whether or not Lorna Dane was Magneto's kid or not.
edit: in fact, retconning both of them into inhumans doesn't even work, for many, many reasons. Inhumans have to be exposed to terrigen mists to gain powers, and neither one of them did. Both have been confirmed as carrying X-genes multiple times. Quicksilver actually *has a child* with an inhuman, and this caused all sorts of problems when said child turned out to be neither mutant, nor inhuman, but baseline human in "blood ties." "No more mutants" depowered quicksilver right along with 99% of the mutant population, and didn't touch inhumans.
