Okay, so basically what I'm seeing in this thread is Nintendo has decided to level U.S. with the rest of the regions they sell the 3DS in and not include an AC adapter. While that seems mildly inconvenient, it's honestly doesn't seem like it's as big of a deal as some people are making it out to be.
U.S. gamers were getting a perk for years, and now we're not getting the perk.
That being said, you can buy an AC adapter for 3DS on Amazon right now for $8.39

Which I plan on doing right now so that way I won't be caught with my pants down if Nintendo runs into some sort of 3DS charger shortage after N3DS releases.
Problem solved.
I'm glad my PS4 and new laptop came with the perk of being able to power them.
