Nintendo Switch 2 has seemingly sold 5 million units according to Nintendo's IR website (1.47m Japan, 1.80m America, 1.18m Europe, 550k Other)

Which would explain the public apology Furukawa did last week?

Think that applogy was focused on Japan where its a lottery system to buy the system at retail and online and where over 2.2 million people applied to the MyNintendo Store to pre-order the system and most weren't able to secure a Switch 2 there. Furukawa and the rest of Nintendo mostly focus on Japanese market at the Q&As since most of their investors are based in Japan. Bowser is the one that might provide an appology for the US market if the supply is unsufficient.

My expectations for the quarter is 7 million shipped / 6 million sell-through

Guy, with 3M units in 4 days and now 5M units in 3 weeks, I've graphed it and it looks to be dire for Nintendo. If the sales per week keep decreasing at that rate I predict it'll flatline and fall off a cliff by end of summer

I doubt that. Square has to have learned their lesson by now.

Don't put it past them, they missed the launch of the Switch 2 with their FF7 remake. Even if a few years old port, a good meaty game for the launch of a console was not going to hurt them, now FF7 will come out later in the year facing who knows what competition at a time when a few years old port will look less interesting.

Gosh, only 3M more and it'll have outsold the Xbox Series X..!

(assuming that 25% of the reported 30 million Series sales belong to the X).

No, it's 2022 data, where the Series X was heavily supply constrained. Since then, the Series X outsold the Series S in the US, and fair to assume it's pretty much the same worldwide (even in Japan there are more X sold than S now).

The Series S was a mistake.

No surprise at all. Europeans can't wait to tell you the Switch 2 is available in their country. My social media was flooded with that when I said the Switch 2 launch wasn't "muted."
It's the pricing, MK Bundle in Sweden is like 790 bucks.

It is a forecast, this thing was released a week ago, but now that people are using this as sales numbers, Nintendo will likely remove this.
I know the numbers are from the past week, but the sales are in line with the NPD sales report + Nintendo store sales. No chance this is a forecast. Probably they update the sales weekly in the page and somebody pulled the trigger by error and made the numbers visible to the public. Probably the numbers are higher this week.

Does it matter? What's important is that a new console gets good early momentum. Once that happens the rest follow.

People are sheep, a big reason PlayStation always sell over 100 million is party because everyone's friends are on there.
It doesn't, the ps3 wasn't 100m

I think he was being sarcastic but you are 100% correct. The reason doesn't matter. The fomo matters and that is generated by early buzz. Switch 2 is already golden. It is currently culturally relevant and that is all that is needed for success.

It could still fall off but the fall off is slow. Nintendo will need to keep the games coming and we are golden.

Some people want or thing that the sales of the Switch 2 are going to drop from a cliff… Something that never happened to the Switch 1 sales even 8 years later… And nothing indicates that is going to happen.

A forecast would be in line with real numbers, thats the point. The clean total numbers for both units shows that this is forecast numbers. Its how they do it.

That said, they might have sold more if anything, but this is certainly not a sheet to take as a fact of sales.

That doesn't make sense… Why update forecasts numbers every month? This looks more like a monthly sales tracker.

PR

Nintendo is desperate cause people realize that Donkey Kong is Mario Odyssey with another skin, and that the Switch 2 lcd screen is slow, and the $80 games will be boycotted. To combat this, they spit out numbers.

Probably because the number comes from the Japan Nintendo site…
So? You guys are really stretching.

The fact that these numbers come out to be so nicely rounded indicates that they are either estimated or they are shipped figures and not devices sold through to the consumer.

I can't wait for someone to bring up that Nintendo is a publicly traded company and it would be illegal for them to put inaccurate numbers up on an investor relations webpage.

That page is not for estimates 😂. You are the one really stretching here. That page is for sales.

I belive it. People on here and elsewhere trying to gaslight folks... "its easy to get, i got mine" or "i seen a bunch on launch day and days later" in east bumblefuck Egypt.

The shit has been impossible to get with only a handful of restocks that sell out in minutes, yet people still try to say its reasonable.

I am still waiting for Nintendo to give me the email to buy it. At least Sony put me in a queue and let me know I was entered. They just said "we will notify, someday, maybe..."...lol

Shit sold well, its hard , if not impossible to find in the USA.

I heard there's a Target in Alabama that has one in the display case. Impossible to find rumor debunked.
