There was no way the PS5 was selling around 5 million in 25 days or so at launch. Once the console was available it was tracking around PS4 levels. And will still do well to get to the total set by the PS4.

You say Nintendo has no competition, but that's because Sony really truly loves it that way. And as quiet as it's kept the Sony fans also love it this way as well. And I say that because if Sony and the Sony fans around the world really truly wanted to give Nintendo competition, they would all be begging for sony to release a hybrid console instead of two separate systems next generation. The only way I can see Sony really topping Nintendo is if they released a hybrid console that can connect to the TV through a dock. The hybrid should have roughly the same amount of power as the NS2 but guess what Sony fans would never want this. Which is why I can't really see any more Sony consoles moving forward out selling the Nintendo hybrids. There's markets around the world that prefer gaming on a handheld versus in front of a TV. This is why Nintendo is in the realm of their own because Sony refuses to compete directly against this juggernaut. And the only way to effectively do it is through a hybrid because a portable alone isn't going to do it. It has to be a hybrid that could seamlessly switch between TV and handheld, but guess what? their own fan base would never want this so Nintendo will be left alone dominating, breaking various different records and selling over 120+ million units moving forward generation after generation.

Certain developers/executives/3rd parties view Nintendo more as a competitor than a partner. Nintendo's software and hardware massively appeals to the Japanese market. They have a fully functioning all in one hybrid console backed by the best performing software in Japan. Nintendo is competing and have (currently) won Japan over. Like I've said before, Japan can push a console up to 20M+ and software up to 5M+. The Switch is over 35M in Japan alone. I'm thinking that's not far from whatever number Xbox Series Systems are at WW. Let that sink in.

The Switch 1 didn't receive the big third party titles due to technical limitations. That's not going to happen with the Switch 2… BTW… Third party games available in the 3 platforms day 1, the Switch 1 version constantly outperforms the Xbox version.

I don't defend Sony. I dont defend MS or Nintendo for that matter either. I just find Nintendo is the only company out of the 3 that are actually worth buying a console for. Their games are exclusive to their hardware, and that alone makes buying the Switch 2 worth the buy unlike Sony / MS, where all their games are coming to PC, which makes it the default system to play the games on.

But I am not a fanboy like you so I don't defend a system of choice because I am attached to a brand.

Technically, you are right. I get what you mean, as I can take it away if he is grounded, for example. But it's not something I'll take from him to use it for my personal gaming. I at one point had 2 PS5s. One for him and a Pro for me. The Pro is gone because I stopped playing the system and mainly on PC and Switch 2

my first PS5 I had I played a few games on it like GT7, Final fantasy 7 Remake /Rebirth, etc. when most of Sony's games started getting more and more releases on PC. I gave my son my old PS5 and sticked with Switch 1 back then and PC ( 4090 ). later on, I sold my GPU in anticipation of the 5090 and decided I would give the PS5 pro a try. honestly didn't even feel the difference between it and the regular PS5 outside of maybe GT7 a little? When I got my 5090, I sold the PS5 pro for no loss and moved on back to PC, and lastly, I bought Switch 2 ( where I am spending more of my time on it than my PC, to be honest. Mario Kart 8 and World are kinda my fav games of all time, especially online.

But if it helps, I also had Xbox series S and X at one point too. i guess that makes me love Xbox so much too ? Money isn't really an issue for me. I am just moody, and I don't like keeping things in my home that I won't use when it comes to gaming.

And if I am a Sony or Nintendo fanboy or anything. I will just say it. who cares what other people think on an internet forum man? cmon now. I am too old for this shit lol

Nintendo keeping their games exclusively to their consoles is going to pay big. Xbox is definitely not going back to that strategy, and Sony is probably going to increase their bet on PC. Switch 2 + PC is starting to look like the way to go for gamers.

Sony decision of porting of its exclusives 1st and 2nd party games and not being a home of exclusives anymore will really accelerate Nintendos Switch 2 growth due to true being home of true exclusives. I even think Ps6 especially if its launch too early, it might flop.

I never stated the PS5 was not a great device just like the Series X is also a pretty decent machine. My point was in that particular console segment it would be very tough to reach 5 million sales in such a short space of time. There is competition. Wheras the Switch pretty much has it's own market to itself and is coming off the back of a very successful generation.
