No. I responded to this:
And then YOU responded to me, but the discussion remained about the initial post about legality of such a move.
Not since the Hyrule Warriors pre-order DLC debacle have I seen such unwarranted complaining. You're spending $200+ on a new system but suddenly an extra $5 for a charger off eBay has you up in arms?

It's so logical that every other company in the world has stopped including charging cables as well...
If it's so cheap, why isn't it included? Not since the Hyrule Warriors pre-order DLC debacle have I seen such ridiculous complaining. You're spending $200+ on a new system but suddenly an extra $5 for a charger off eBay has you up in arms?
Every single smartphone/tablet (well most anyway since Apple products come with a usb wall adapter) in existence doesn't come with a charger, sometimes not even a un cable because they (rightfully) believe you already have tons of those lying around.
I agree it's dumb though.
They used to, yeah. From DS all the way through 2DS. New 3DS will be the first handheld from Nintendo to force consumers to buy a power source here in the US since the original GBA needed batteries.

Not very different than the Wii U name. Nintendo sucks at differentiating their software platforms from one another. They used to do it well. GBA to GBASP. gameboy to gameboy color. DS to DSLite to DSi. Putting new in front of the name is about as stupid as the U on the Wii U.
Only releasing the New Nintendo 3DS XL was a tough, smart decision. They need to streamline their SKUs, as the regular consumer is likely already confused as fuck.
Unfortunately, this was half-baked, as they still went with an even worse name than 'Wii U'.
Are you aware there's an entire series called New Super Mario Bros that sells just fine? Now -there's- a series where the name could get confusing, given there are sequels and everything. Yet it does fine.

Hmm, that is genuinely interesting. What on earth type of phone did you buy? I've never seen such a thing - even with the cheapest phones on the market.

I'm not necessarily defending it, as I think it's cutting corners and inconveniencing customers. I'm just trying to say I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Are you just simply missing all of the posts from GAFers in other countries who are saying their devices usually don't come with included AC adapters, including 3DS?
I missed the context, apologies.
That's not really the point, is it? Holy shit I really can't believe I'm reading people defending this.

No the fact that there may be an actual financial reason for Nintendo to do this beyond pissing off their customers. What if it came out that to include the charger they would of had to charge $220 or $230 because of taxes/costs, would this practice then be OK? Nobody knows the full story yet.
USB was not designed for charging batteries. It's a Universal Serial cord. It only carries 5 Volts. And honestly, from a design perspective, you don't want plugs that can easily accept common incorrect cords that could cause damage,
In general, USB wouldn't really satisfactory solve the charging issue for electronic devices. Some devices can get away with it, but in general many devices need their own power supplies, if nothing else, which would make the USB angle moot.
What you really want is the electronics industry to come up with standardized power supplies; the power bricks on the cords. Whether that's feasible, I don't know, since different applications often have different requirements.

Don't really care that they're not including it. I have both a 3DS and a DSi so reducing the number of extra cables I have sitting around is always good.
If I'm spending $200+ on a system, it had better not require me to go through extra bullshit just to play it.Not since the Hyrule Warriors pre-order DLC debacle have I seen such ridiculous complaining. No charger is pretty messed up. Luckily I never sell my stuff so I have at least 2 3DS chargers. Unless it requires a special charger.
I'm glad my PS4 and new laptop came with the perk of being able to power them.
So you're telling me there's a large notice on the box warning consumers that it doesn't come with a charger? BS
Okay. An AC adapter wouldn't have added 20-30 bucks to the price of the system.
No regular sized device is odd I suppose, but the XL is the waaaaay better option in every way other than the skins. So I'm not bothered by that either.
You're spending $200+ and Nintendo is too cheap to include something necessary for your system to work?
Already spent $8 on Amazon for an adapter. I'm the problem.
"Man, if you had just done some research on that new car, you'd know it doesn't come with wheels!"3. They don't have a charger, and they don't know that the New 3DS doesn't have one... in which case maybe they should do a little research on a product before they spend 200 bucks on it.
It's stupid not to include a necessary device for the system, absolutely no argument there. But I think people are getting too worked up about something that's only an additional $9 purchase. This isn't like the PS Vita where memory cards are grossly overpriced and are still fairly essential to the device.
The reason your comparison is so incredibly stupid is that most every single device in the world uses a cable that is a standard. So if you lost one, you could probably easily find another from one of the many other devices you own. Nintendo's cable/charger is proprietary. They're not including a proprietary cable required to power the device. And you're defending that. Says a lot about you that you'd name-call people who have valid concerns about anti-consumer behavior.装甲悪鬼村正;147415745 said:A Moto G. 90% of people saying that they will no longer buy a New 3DS will buy one.
I would put money on it.
That tiny little notice? Yeah, I'm sure soccer moms buying a N3DS for little Jimmy are going to take the time to read that and then hop on Amazon to buy a charger so he can play the device they just spent $200+ on.
For me to believe that nonsense, I'd have to also believe that they're selling the 3DS at break-even or a loss. Guess what, I don't believe that.
