This is a deliberate spectrum. No one has to like an art-style, but criticizing it because it doesn't have "enough color" borders on presumptuous. They didn't forget to hit the color button. I'd imagine the designers put plenty of thought into it. In a title as visually accomplished as the Order, I comfortably dismiss that "strike" against it. I may change my mind playing through it, but I doubt it.

Similar criticisms were leveled at Driveclub and occasionally still are, its realistic lighting system results in what people consider "drab" and "colorless" environments especially during cloud cover because that's simply how things look in that situation.

Sure i dont recently, because i dont have time, but come the fuck on!

Thats not counting D3, Hearthstone, LoL, BF 3, Mass Effect trillogy [i finished ME 2 like 5 times btw], Factorio, Total Annihilation Spring and many other games, like Guild Wars 2 where i have 250h or EVE Online where i have over 3500h

Ryse or The Order are not games i play, those are games i'm interested in, because of technology.

All those games IMO are crap games. They all let you change graphics settings too much. It makes playing games such a chore that I have to go to settings all the time and tweak shit to ensure that my eyes don't hurt from all the CA, DOF, lens flare, and motion blur. By the time I'm ready to play the game I'm tired and just want to play on my inferior console.

What is wrong with the developers and their vision? Why can't they just remove all those options so we could just concentrate on playing games?!

This is an order thread so to be safe /s.

I'm assuming that's very good? I want this game to do well. People harp on its linearity and how it's a derivative of this or that, but we're literally getting a sea of open world games, and almost nothing linear like this on new consoles. It's actually unique in today's landscape. It also seems like a kind of game where the sequel could seriously ace things so much, if the first one successful, now that the have the engine and can spend all the time focusing on various gameplay aspects for the sequel.

Yeah I agree after playing GTAV, Dragon Age, Far Cry, and Shadow of Mordor lately I'm totally down for a focused and linear story driven game

That's a huge number of copies to fulfill preorders at a single store for a new IP that's platform exclusive.

I've been slowly working on FarCry 4, AC Unity, GTA V, and Dragon Age Inquisition for months and honestly I want nothing more than to just play a straight forward, linear game right now.

Welp, atleast you know this thing will be in Karachi any day now. If I still lived there, I know my copy would be on it's way. It just sucks how day 1 releases are hosed and up-priced.
Yeh, the day 1 (or pre-release) prices are bad but for The Order, I wouldn't mind paying extra to get it early :D

Should be here early next week

Looking at Amazon it seems they got some more in stock but they were sold out for a long time.

Just an FYI the only place showing out of stock right now that I see is Best Buy. I got my copy from Best Buy it was showing out of stock online months ago but they were able to pre-order for me in store.

Ah, good to know. I got my CE secured a while ago but hopefully the people that got locked out before can nab them.

Which one is supposed to look better? I prefer the first one.

The second one obviously looks technically better. It's clearly a more muted look to match the time of day and tone of the mission, which people may subjectively dislike, but technically there's a lot going on that's improved. The smoke from the blast hitting the enemy looks way better, less obviously single large particles. There's more physics objects breaking apart as the enemy hits the ground. There's a volumetric fog filling the scene. The lighting looks softer, which matches the way light would interact in the environment and atmosphere. Subsurface scattering on faces looks better. And you can see a lighting glitch on Galahad, where it pops and darkens him a second or so after a camera cut, which isn't present in the retail version.

Oh, you're right. There's definitely more going on in the second gif.

So let me get this straight.

The choice is:

You can have the order pre-ordered with bonus stuff but not see any reviews
or you can have the order not pre-ordered with no bonus stuff, and see all the reviews?

I think, for me, the perfect look would be a halfway point between those two builds. The bottom one is a little too foggy and grey, but the top one is too clean and colourful for the tone/setting of the game.

You can always cancel your pre-order/return the game if you don't like the reviews.

Unless going digital I don't ever hesitate to preorder something I'm interested in when there's bonuses involved.
