no, i mean myself having total control. like, let me walk up to the guard, sniff his asshole, walk away, then walk towards the guard again and finally choke him out when i feel good and ready. not have a prompt automatically pop up when i get into a buffer zone.

Oh I see, haha.

Gotcha.

Haven't really watched videos, I'm dark.

now, like in the last hour, because of a swedish web article that claims an editor thinks the game is just 3 hours long, all these click-bait tweets and re-posts of this (with modifications to make what is just a rumour, sound like news) are popping up.

maybe... just maybe.. he could use this gif I just wasted an hour on (here at work lol)

If they change the setting/time we won't have Galahad though :(

If the story of 1886 allows for a sequel I'd like 1887 personally.
Didn't RAD mention that some of these knights are hundreds of years old? That leaves them the freedom to change time period yet still keep "old" characters.

I've not been following this game closely recently so does anyone if this game will be very focused on horror/suspense like those E3 presentations made me believe it is?

As a point of reference I hated Uncharted 1 "horror" action sequences but loved Last of Us despite being a dark and horror-lite game.

I'm feeling the desire to play a new 8-hour action game so this would fit perfectly for what I want right now.

that's beyond sad .

Looking at the current set of people who have completed the game, I ordered each by time of trophy, and in particular I look at when they typically played other games (often it is before-work, after-work, creatures of habit), it is looking to me like most did it in ~7 hours, and another hour to pop all but the hardest collectible trophy.

The length is probably going to be the Achilles heel if everything else holds up. Ryse was 6 hours and got roasted. TLOU felt about right to me and was 15 hours.

Wow, I completely forgot about that! We could literally go anywhere then :D My vote goes to one of the world wars then (I guess they would they have to stay neutral?)

Probably not the place for this, but I always feel that Uncharteds horror sequence was misunderstood. It was the greatest change of pace in a game, like ever. It was the ONLY section of the game where you actually had any use for firing from the hip. Running and gunning like it's never been (and probably never will be) done in a TPS, and it was AWESOME. One of the things that really made that game to me in that it stopped us from hiding behind a corner and actually made us use available mechanics.

No one liked it probably because they kept playing the game like the rest of it, and that wasn't how it was supposed to be done. If there are any sections like those in The Order 1886 I will be REALLY happy.

Man this game is very divisive, but I do enjoy third-person, story-driven action games so I think this is my kind of game. The atmosphere and setting also looks sublime as does the art direction.

I'll just have to wait and play it for myself before I make my judgments.

I liked it. I died so many times in that section trying to aim down the sights, then it suddenly hit me. OMG hip fire!

That discovery opened up a whole new way to play even when against regular enemies. You could circle strafe, close the distance and go in with melee finishers. You could run away while shooting behind you (which also looked awesome).

Played The Order last night and really enjoyed it. I've always been a fan though and my hands-on basically confirmed everything I expected from the game. Intense gameplay with gorgeous graphics, and it was actually quite a bit harder than I thought. Really looking forward to playing the whole thing.

Exactly!
It seems that everyone who had this discovery really liked it and those who didn't hated it.

Your non-spoilerific impressions will be quite welcomed.

On a a scale of soul patch to mutton chops, how would you rate the game in terms of awesomeness?

Did someone mention yesterday that they are posting a review today? Or did they say there review copies is coming today? The impressions so far have me excited :D

By mid 2013 The Last of Us had sold over 8 million copies. How many people played the MP? About 200k total?

I don't know anybody who played it and played the MP. Games needing MP is a myth.
I haven't even played it once. Half of these fuckers that wants MP play it like once or twice and then move on. It's just shit people bitch about. I tend to ignore it

This is probably one of the more interesting review scores I have waited for. I really cannot predict. I wont be surprised if it gets a bunch of 6's or 9's.

Yet somehow someone who is on my friendlist is at position 868 259 on the leaderboards and this is what only the PS4 version; How is this possible? Straight pulling numbers out your ass just because you don't play it doesn't mean others don't or won't. I have friends who have last of us and play pretty much only for the online.

Anyways on the topic of that RAD can do whatever they want with regards to including an mp or not. I'm 100% for the dev doing whatever they think is best for their vision It's really up to them I'm gonna buy the game regardless because I see value in an Sp campaign whereas others may not and feel if that's all it offers its a rent.

Wouldn't choking him out just be a button press, like a QTE is? I'm a little confused. Also, couldn't you get in the "buffer zone" then leave, then get back into it?

I understand when people hate QTEs used like they are in Asura's Wrath, but sometimes I think people go a little overboard on the hatred of them. I was just playing Hyrule Warriors last night, and was actually wishing that instead of completely draining the health bar down to one hit, then unceremoniously just whacking the boss once more with a Fire Rod and then it dying... that once it got down to one last hit, there was a sequence of QTEs that actually made killing the boss into a game within the game. I don't feel like I've "lost control" of the game when that happens. I feel like I'm more engaged in the game when that happens, actually.

You gotta be kidding.

You trying to sell me on the idea that almost everybody who bought the PS4 version actively plays the MP? Or is that simply counting trophies and the likes.

More people than you think played the MP of The Last of Us, and it's actually really good. I don't know if everybody that bought the PS4 version did, but a lot of people did. Muchn more than I think you might believe.

Is it not a red flag to hold embargos until the day before release?

When did tlous embargo drop? Or other narrative driven single player focused games?

It usually is, but Ready at Dawn have been holding a lot of cards close on this one, so it wouldn't surprise me either way. Lots of potential spoilers.

I think it has to do with leaks.. Sony used to send me Review codes weeks (sometimes a month) before the embargo was up. But lately the embargo has been very very close to the day we get the game for review.
It has nothing to do with "red flags".. the embargo dates have just moved closer to the release date because of leaks.

Wasn't TLOU's review embargo up like 10 days before release though?

I went to the MP section looked at the numbers for the leaderboards and called you out on the incorrect number. That number is just my lowest ranked friend in the MP because I couldn't bother scrolling all the way down to see all the players Not everybody plays it, that much is obvious but to make it seem like it has little value is foolish.

I agree with the fact that not every game needs an MP and its really up to the developer to include but there is no denying the fact that it having one casts a wider net for people who are interested in purchasing. Games are 60 dollars, maybe more depending on where you live (70 dollars plus tax where I live) so there are definitely gonna be players out there who may passover based upon the fact it does or doesn't have one if it adds to the value they get for their money; especially given its generally a linear story driven game.

I dunno man all a last second embargo does for me is make me feel like there's not too much confidence in the product, that could be 100% wrong, but that's the impression I think a lot of people get

You can always clarify what part of the game is not allowed to be discussed during the review, dunno

Still have high hopes dgmw

most reviews come with some notes about stuff that shouldn´t be mentioned in the review. And reviewers always (almost) stick to those notes.
But I guess the PS4 and it´s ability to stream and record gameplay has changed the way it used to work.

The ad campaign shows they are alot of confidence

This obsession with embargos I will never get.
