Respawn confirms they are working on Titanfall sequel, will be multiplatform

Wouldn't expect this to be a Source 2 title. Didn't their tech lead say that the engine was so heavily modified it was barely Source anyway?

Full campaign, meatier content included with the base game and I'll jump in. I do not like the idea of paid DLC maps but I guess it's par for the course in this genre.

"You get Titanfall 2 from us, Sony, but what do we get from you for Xbox One?"
"... ... ... Knack 2: Still Knacking."
"Noooooooooooooooooooooo!"

I don't get these guys, they got up from under Activision because it seemed oppressive and you would think with all the money they got they would be their own bosses doing shit their way but here they seem hoodwinked by EA announcing their game without their consent.

Either-way, cant wait. And I wish people would stop holding it against them that the first one was exclusive. Just stop and be fucking thrilled it is coming to PS4.

For all intents and purposes, EA manages the IP. Respawn own the trademark, yeah, but EA holds exclusive rights to distribution and has first refusal on future games in the series, so they're in control.

A bit of a shit way to announce it

Eh, just a confirmation that they are working on the next game. Not really much of an announcement. May as well be up front about it instead of pulling the secrecy bullshit that doesn't fool anyone that most of the AAA industry likes to run with.

Heavily modified, sure but it looks like Source which I don't particular care for now. I hope they've improved it massively.

There is no such thing as a console exclusive. If a game is on more than one platform, it's not exclusive.

This is uh... Two different things. A console exclusive simply means that a game is only on one console (regardless of whether or not it's on PC).

I really hate that term. I don't really hate a lot of things because it's such a strong word, but console exclusive is so stupid. I almost feel console exclusive likely originated from some fanboy trying to win a silly internet debate that doesn't accomplish anything IRL.

Not sure how it's "stupid". The sales of multiplats show that many people don't play games on PC.

It's 2015 guys. The sequel is coming out to the PS4. What's with the late 2013-early 2014 "build up to Titanfall launch" posts?

Every first sequel is referred to by the press as "______ 2" until the official title is given. Tons of articles were written about "Star Wars 2" before they finally revealed "The Empire Strikes Back."
Right, but there's a big difference between "EA announces Titanfall 2" and "EA says yet again that they're working on a Titanfall sequel."

Modern warfare was a heavily modded id tech 4 game I believe all the vids up to advanced warfare were in fact seems like they would keep pace with previous behaviours.

I'm be curious about if they'll be staying with that modified Source engine.

Source 2 would require a Steam launch and EA ain't havong that. The next game going multiplatform won't have anything to dosing it, either. PC port will be Origin-only, same as anything else.

Now the PS4 players can try out Titanfall. Good for them. Can't wait for sequel...still one of the best games on Xbox One.

One thing Zampella was keen to think about changing was the DLC model for the future, citing Evolve's commitment to keeping the community united via free maps for all as the ideal way forward.

"I think that's a fantastic way to do it," he said. "I think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it's messy. Yeah. I don't know we won't do it again, I can't say that for sure, but the idea would be to do something different."

This is fucking great! I hope they actually go through with this.

I'm going to reiterate what another poster said. I'm not going to believe this until I see a trailer/PR statement with PS4 branding. never underestimate MS's ability to roll in and moneyhat a multiplatform game in development.

Uh...did you really just say that? PC has the most played games in the world lol

Also, physical sales are often the only ones we see. Many multiplats games are selling millions on PC. All of the possibly digital numbers will never be seen. That's just a fact

This is no different than Treyarch saying "hey guys we know it is our year too, just wait". Not an announcement but it is silly to pretend that nothing is going on.

Also Titanfall is rad as hell and people need to actually give it a good couple hours before writing off any part of it. I thought the beta was whatever but 120 hours later in the game and I think it was one of the best shooters of the last 5 years. The bots add to the gameplay in a really cool way but you don't see until you learn how to move fast and shoot faster.

If The starwars Battlefield game releases this fall titanfall 2 will probably release next march. As eas spring game..... e3 shall be interesting

Single player campaign and I'll bite.

Add Co-op as well (vs Computer), and all the better!

PS: I'm shocked! Shocked I tell ya! ;)
Co-op is already in Titanfall 1, there's a horde mode against enemy Titans and soldiers that don't exist in campaign and mp.

This game is going to be huge.

I'm not so sure. The last one didn't exactly set the charts on fire and adding PS4 (while maybe dropping 360) doesn't seem like enough to be "huge". I'm sure it'll get heavily marketed again though so who knows.

Unless you meant "huge" as in a quality game. Then yeah, I can see them expanding on what a lot of folks said was a fine game.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that! They did wonders with that engine.

Man, they just dropped the first game into a ditch and sprinted on to the next game, huh?

Did Titanfall do well? I know it didn't live up to the hype, but that applies to the 2014 AAA scene in general.

??

There was a lot of post release patching and additional content as I recall.

Don't forget, the Oscars of video games, the British Academy Video Game Awards, is tonight, hence this impromptu announcement.

Personally, I got my fill of the first game in the beta, and I'm not sure if I'd bother with the sequel.

Please have a campaign. World looks cool, would be shame to not use it. Also, maybe they can use Source 2. Who knows.

Good, now stop the politics and embrace/introduce console cross-play. It's 2015 for pete's sake!

wishful thinking, I know :(

The first one was pretty successful. I'm sure this will be even bigger.

That poster has 0 idea what they're talking about.

For what? Didn't seem worth it in the end with the first game. I'm sure MS is looking at other stuff to spend money on, maybe some game we haven't heard of yet.

The first one was pretty successful. I'm sure this will be even bigger.

I stand corrected. Thanks.

Multiformat yay! Xbox One, Windows 10 and Windows phone then :P

Jokes aside, it should be on PS4 and even Wii-U. Game is a great first IP and I look forward to seeing what they do to flesh out their original idea.
