Everyone knows March is the best time to release a Grammy bait album. Will be fresh on the minds of the voters that way.

I'm trying to think if I was one of the first people to have the CD. Ordered it from Amazon and got it in the Afternoon last Tuesday. Wasn't even in stores until like Thursday right?

Advantages of being close to Amazon fulfillment warehouses.

Does anyone really give a shit about the Grammy awards? I couldn't care less if he wins, this album is ace regardless.

If I'm being honest about it, I don't really give a crap about the Grammy. I think award shows are dumb.

That said, I'm really rooting for the album to take off. To me it's potentially a "Smells Like Teen Spirit" moment that kicks off another round of much improved popular music. Which I personally think we're long, long overdue for.

It goes without saying that TPAB is a masterpiece. But this is one of the few pieces of music that brings me to the verge of tears at numerous points. When the melodies, the lyrical content and the underlying messages come together, which is frequent, I be bawlin.

It amazes me that this is the number 1 album in the UK.

ooh nice it's grammy bait already. Quicker cycle than I thought
Step off son I wasn't trollING Kendrick or his album. I've given nothing but props in this thread and the gaf hop one.
Was just asking what grammy bait rap albums are coming out this year.I'm not convinced this album will win one given their appalling record on rap awards

I think a lot of people care about the genre actually being respected.

If Kendrick wins it will likely be due to a lot of press covering the album, not because Grammy voters actually listened to a lot of rap and determined Kendrick's was the highest quality.

Really think people are better off not caring.. you can't claim an award show is a joke for a decade and then turn around and act like it's all that meaningful if the Grammy's suddenly seems to agree with hip hop heads.

The only two rappers that will be competition for Kendrick in terms of Grammy awards are Kanye & Macklemore. I doubt there will be another Macklemore winning over Kendrick situation for the second time so really it'll be between Kendrick & Kanye, but I can't predict it because they never had to share nominations before for albums.

lol just say you phrased it wrong then. this is esp. weird because I had one of the least serious responses to yr post

Kanye'll have a grammy spot. I could see Big Boi or Cudi on there even though the grammys have shown them love lately. Nas will probably be nominated and lose again if he comes out

I feel like the people that shit on the genre don't deserve to be pointed in the direction of it's crowning jewels. I used to be apologetic with the rap is crap crowd, bringing up a host of rap songs with incredible poetic and musical pedigree but more and more I'm off that shit. Let people wallow in their ignorance.

Damn the score went up? That's crazy lol.

Wasn't Kendrick dead last behind Macklemore, Drake, and Jay Z last time at the Grammys? It's not like GKMC isn't highly regarded as well, so I'm not going to say he's got high chances of winning this one either.

It sounded like a troll lol.

The year is obviously still very young but I just can't see anything winning over this. I can't. But I'm excited to see what everyone else comes with.

Yeah and if Kanye releases his album in the time frame, you can be sure that Grammy voters will gravitate to that no matter it's quality. Screw the grammys

I was almost scared to listen to this because I was worried it would be a step back from GKMC, but TPAB is *better.*

Every album has been a 10/10 for me, best first three albums since Kanye's college trilogy.

Kendrick's first three are better than Kanye's imo. Graduation was definitely a step down from College Dropout and Late Reg.

One of my most shameful hip-hop opinions is probably that I prefer Graduation to the first two.

Love the album, hate that he didn't separate the actual songs from the skits or whatever you want to call them. I don't want to listen to 2 minutes of Kendrick yelling stuff every time I want to listen to I. I get that it's a concept album, but at least let me listen to single track without the fluff.

edit the tracks down yourself then

I'm actually doing that right now, just wish I didn't have to.

The amount of hip hop tracks I've edited over the years is insane. Separate your tracks, rappers.

no offense but how about the rappers make whatever they want and if it bugs you that much you can put forth the effort to change it
