I've completely fallen off the wrestling wagon.

SMH. And I didn't even really watch when Orton and Cena starting coming around. Damn, I'm old and out of touch!

Imagine if The Rock and Stone Cold had ended a RAW like they did last night heading into Mania. Fucking Christ.

Current WWE feels like a children's play version of it's previous self. At least for the most part (not all the time, like last night for instance...) the wrestling in the ring is better than a lot of the Attitude era stuff was, outside of guys like Eddie and Angle. It's the only positive I can think of. But fuck...I guess we don't even get that many wrestling matches on RAW anymore. It feels like we have to wait for PPVs every time to get some actual action.

WM30 should have been an easy alley-oop to a fantastic year of programming. But they've fucked things up just about as bad as they could have. A lot of this feels like direct backlash from Vince for not having last year's Mania go the way he had planned originally. The past few months have felt like him setting up the Mania he wants, no matter what the fan reaction might be. Sure there are bright spots like Wyatt and Rollins, but it's few and far between.
 
It will make me so sad if Bray jobs to Taker. And I like Taker. It would be a great way to pass the torch to someone new with that almost mystical aura about them, as Undertaker has had.

I honestly can't think of any reason whatsoever for Taker to come away with the win, unless it (somehow) tells an even bigger and longer story for Taker's retirement.
 
The ridiculous hatred for Reigns is at least making people forget about their ridiculous hatred for Cena.

Otherwise, this thread would be entirely about "Cena wins LOL" and Rusev getting buried.

It's hard to say without knowing the endgame for Taker. I'd have to think his last match will be next year, considering the location and possible crowd size. My feeling is that he might beat Bray to show that even though the streak is dead, he still "has it", and his legacy will go on. But again, who will his opponent be next year if he continues? Sting? That makes sense from a standpoint of marquee names, but can that match actually deliver a year from now, if they really go with it?

As far as we know he very well could just use Mania as a launchpad for his retirement "arc" if he goes that far. Wrestles through the summer. Ends his career like he debuted, at the Survivor Series. Maybe. We'll have to see.

Cena has charisma, good mic skills, is highly marketable and a decent worker.

Undertaker's powers get transferred into Bray, and Bray is a split personality for a few weeks, until the Bo Dallas is kidnapped and Bray's spirit is forced out into his body.

I just can't see him being sent off in any way that isn't at Wrestlemania, and possibly in the main event, ala Shawn Michaels. Depending on his ability to perform. But in his home state with a possible record-setting attendance, at Wrestlemania? I just can't see it going any other way.

Seth being a heel champion doesn't mean Roman isn't "the guy." John Cena was still "the guy" even when Orton/Punk/Batista/Edge got their turns with the title.

If anything, it's put things in perspective and makes me appreciate Cena. He's confident and natural on the mic and he has a five star match under his belt. He's had great-to-outstanding matches with Lesnar. The only problem is his booking. I pretty much only boo him out of a sense of responsibility at this point.

If he beats Rusev, I'll pretty much just sigh, since at least Rusev went over and looked strong at Fastlane. Plus he would elevate the US Title.

Even extremely casual fans I know hate Roman Reings. This suggestion that it's only us smarks overreacting is completely ridiculous. He was booed by most of the crowd in LA last night when he grabbed the WWE belt. This is turning into "Die Rocky, die." type of heat. Back then they were able to salvage it by turning Rock into an incredible heel, the WWE of today just doesn't have the sense or balls to make that move with Reigns.


I would never be so happy in my life to eat crow if WWE decides to turn Roman heel at Mania.

I'm convinced that Roman Reigns supporters are justifying his push because they just want to be different. Let's face it, he's not ready and it will take some time for him to be ready. It would have made sense if he went after Russev for the title because he's suppose to be a "legit bad ass" and fighting the biggest threat to the WWE next to Yokozuna would be glorious. Instead, they push him to the moon knowing the fact that he's getting lukewarm to bad reactions, his matches are little to be desired, and the heel is becoming the face which isn't suppose to happen.

It's like the WWE knows this match is going to be a mess but keep pushing the agenda of Reigns being in the main event because fuck what the fans think, say, or do about it. This goes beyond anger that Daniel Bryan wasn't in the picture...hell ziggler could have been a good opponent...hell even Cesaro, but out of all those legit competitors you pick somebody that's green as hell and force it because "it's my company".

Bottom line it is what it is, but for those that support Reigns...at least back up the claims instead of throwing people under the bus because not everybody is a smark about Vince's decisions.

It's "I have this contract in this briefcase, I'm cashing it in right now." They bring a ref and it's in the ring afaik. I don't recall 24/7 rules applying to MITB.

Also his cash-in match isn't a ladder match, but I suppose you could use it for one if you wanted? Usually it's used to beat a guy that's already been through a match.

Yep, they can cash it in at anywhere, any place, any time. Pretty cool concept for a while. Not so much here lately, which can be said a lot about WWE in general.

For those who haven't watched in a while, but want to check out the network, do yourself a favor and watch NXT to get a taste of what we'll have in the future once HHH is in charge.

Nah. The money in the bank match is a multi-man ladder match and the winner gets the opportunity to get a championship match at the time of his choosing. Most cash in attempts are after the champ just got done with a match and is vulnerable. Cena told his opponent when he was going to cash in ahead of time, I think that is the only time that has happened.

The ladder match is just to win the Money in the Bank briefcase, which contains a contract for a championship match.

Traditionally guys that win the briefcase will turn it in when the current champion is already out in the ring and vulnerable, like for instance right after they've finished a hard fought match or have received a beat down.

Rob Van Dam also announced when he was cashing in ahead of time, so that he could face Cena at One Night Stand 2006, which led to an amazing match and RVD becoming WWE Champion.

Cena was the first to fail on his cash-in. Damien Sandow also failed on his, but he's the only one to try a surprise cash-in and fail completely.
 
It seems to be lost in the shuffle (at least in this thread), but the buildup for Sting vs. HHH has been pretty great for the most part.

Sting hasn't looked this motivated in awhile, and he's already started to gain some new fans (judging by the crowd reactions he's gotten over the past couple of weeks).

I'm not expecting it to be match of the night by any stretch, but it should be worthwhile just for the entrances and the novelty factor alone. Just happy that Sting is getting a chance at WrestleMania in the first place.

That and RVD cashing at One Night Stand.


Edge was the first to cash in when the champion is vulnerable. It was great when the Elimination Chamber match ended with Cena all beaten up and Edge came up.
 
So does the event itself (not pre-show matches) start at 7 p.m. EST?

I'm having some people over (a few non-wrestling fans as well) and I don't want them to sit through more than they have to.
 
I don't know if "I don't like you because WCW" and "I don't like you because HHH" is a good build. They should've paid him for more dates so the concept isn't so flimsy.

I'm sure they'll put on the best match they can, but all I can think about is "this would've still been a pretty decent match like 10 years ago."
 
RVD giving Cena like a month warning in advance was something faces did back in the day. Now faces don't do anything except try to steal titles that don't belong to them.

I was just thinking last night about how lame the build for that match has been. Sting looks good, and that's cool, but that's about it. I'm excited for the match itself, but it's been a crappy build to it.
 
I haven't watched since RR, but I'll resubscribe this weekend so I can get WM and Extreme Rules for $10.

Definitely looks like one of the worst Manias ever, though.
