Yea I picked cane and kind of regret it now. Going to get the axe when I can but I will just level it up and my vitality and endurance. Once I hit the soft cap for those bad boys I'm going to consider going into bloodtinge

I have the most massive grudge against this gatling gun guy that keeps talking shit to me. I seriously can't rest until he's dead.

Any tips at getting past the two werewolves in the 'tutorial'? They have killed me about 5 times now. :/

Run past them. I tried pulling with the pebbles and it ended up just bringing both of them anyway. Or alternatively you can go around them through another path.

So I've been playing a good deal of it. I am very new to this series, only dabbled a bit with 2. I'm making good progress, managed to get the boss down to near dead on my second try, which is cool. Doing lots and lots of exploring. But I have encountered an issue. I'm stuck. I've reloaded and this is where I am. I was able to walk in and cannot walk out, is there a way to warp back to base?

There is an item that lets you reawaken. If you haven't used one you probably have 5-7 on you.

That sucks. Look for an item in your inventory called “Hunter’s Mark”. It teleports you back to the Hunter’s Dream but you’ll lose any blood echoes you have.

That's unfortunate. You should have an item that lets you go back to the refuge. Either a Bold Hunter's Mark or another Hunter's Mark. If it's the latter, you'll lose your echoes so I hope you don't have a lot. =/

Just had my first session as a co-op helper against the Cleric Beast. Still an absolute blast to help others out in these games, and I love how your HP as a helper is crippled now. It was 2v1 and the boss seemed to have been given decent buffs as well, though I couldn't tell how pronounced the difference there was relative to the Souls games.

And thank god for no soul memory. That feature tarnished co-op in Dark Souls 2.

Ah, ok I have been kind of scared to use any of the consumables. That did the trick, thanks guys!

I was a tiny bit horrified. And thankfully didn't loose any souls, even though I only had a few hundred.

Kinda irritated I started with the cane. I'm not really doing any damage it feels like, and I've died multiple times at the first boss even though I thought I was doing fairly well. Argh. Stupid cane.

Wait the game of thrones game just stealth released episode 3? Looks like I will have to do that this weekend and jump back on bloodborne.

I have to start a new character. Refused to fight Father G again before finding the Cleric Beast, but I got a weapon durability warning when I finally found it. I managed to knock it down to half health only doing about 10-15 damage per hit and died. Don't know how to repair weapons. Haven't seen a single item/vendor about it.

Played up to second boss so far. Loved Demon's Souls when I played it a few years back. Never got into Dark Souls very much.

Bloodborne is fantastic though. New weapons are a lot of fun. I haven't noticed a weight system in play yet, is there one? I have two different weapons equipped and its nice to switch on the go depending on enemy, doesn't seem to have impacted my maneuverability.

Visually the game in beautiful. IQ could be a bit cleaner but I'm more concerned with the loading times which can be mildly annoying. Also no a fan of the way the game dials back animation frames when enemies are far away (like they look 10fps even though the animations for your player character look normal). Given how narrow and winding most areas are though it only happens rarely.

The framerate hasn't been an issue for me, seems to run pretty well. I have seen occasional stuttering maybe related to loading.

My fiancé (a graphic designer) just spent 2 hours making my character. Now we're going to have to wait until tomorrow to make hers!

Ready for flame fest:

Just wandered upon and killed Cl
eric Beast
on my first try after struggling with Fa
ther Gascoigne
, which took countless tries on my part. As with any difficult Souls boss, it was so satisfying once I figured it out.

The former was coming down to the wire, but I managed an unintentional stun to finish it. Love how easy the PS4 makes recording and saving these moments.

I'm curious, which one is intended to be the first boss?

Oh man, multiplayer works properly in this! After getting the small resonant bell I spent the rest of the evening cooping for people on the first two bosses. Had a blast.

I was somewhat worried that the "magic" of Dark Souls would be lost, but this is hitting all the right notes for me. Gotta try out the chalice dungeon next.

I just spent 20000 getting the greatsword. Definitely not worth it, I really don’t like the moveset. Hunter’s Axe is better at the moment.

There's a bench in the hunters dream. Next to the storage.

So how about that Old Yharnam framerate?

Yeah there's a "seam" of sorts there where the audio glitches reliably for a split second, and near that spot the framerate is noticably bad. The rest of the area is mostly fine but that bridge near the start and the stairs down are where I see the frame issues.

Soul Memory was really a terrible idea that might have sound good in theory but just flopped in delievery

that's interesting that your saying that the boss feels like it has gotten it's buff. I remember in DS2 that felt like the case sometimes

Me and a buddy tried and wasted alot of insight to get coop to work tonight. We couldn't get it to go but it maybe because I'm level 32 and he's 12 not sure?

We were looking forward to playing together but we just wasted like 2.5 hours trying to get it to work....umbasa?

Either works, but most people face the Cl
eric Beast
first because the way to it is more obvious.

yeah so I've played and completed Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls II... I can't play this fucking game until they fix these load times. my god. PAINFUL.

It's seriously atrocious. Especially considering how many times you die and have to wait for the loading of the level. I wonder if having a SSD would fix this.

There's another weapon you can get without beating the first boss so you don't have to start over. Let me try to outline a general guide for it:

You need to have the shortcut unlocked. Go through the house to the other side (or alternatively, go past the two big guys and take a right up the stairs). You'll come to an area with a lot of dogs in cages and a women in a house asking to relocate. Go past this, you'll enter an area with a lot of barrels on the right side. Break the barrels and enter, you'll see a body hanging. Hit it to make it fall. Drop down and grab the weapon.

So I created a new character after getting my ass handed to me constantly as a Cane wielding Professional. Holy shit the game is so much easier with the hunter's axe! The cane is so much harder to use effectively. It's a pain. Such a shame because it's absolutely badass weapon concept.

Oh yeah and worst case there is an item that effectively kills your character for you, possibly even losing the echoes permanently (no stain), if it works like the nexial binding in demon's souls...

Bosses typically do get a buff when you use co-op help in Souls games. I think it's generally just more HP, at least in Dark Souls. They definitely get more health here, but not sure what else.

Second boss spoilers:

Father Gascoigne goes beast mode on me when he has about 80% HP. I've seen it happen to others when he has 20% HP. What gives? Is it because I'm using the music box?

Does anyone have any tips for a From Software noob? I spent one hour on the second area, central something, and I didn't get anywhere. Furthest I got was to the bonfire and I get slaughtered by everyone.

Any tip would be great. I am lost.

Take it very slow. You don't want to fight more than one enemy at a time, and when you have to, you want to provoke attacks and then punish them afterwards. Keep an eye on your stamina and don't get greedy with doing damage, there is no time limit here, you just want to stay alive. Don't be afraid to play dirty... run away, set up ambushes on corner, exploit the geometry of levels like stairs or obstacles to separate groups.

The generally strategy is really to just think of every fight as a "duel" instead of a hack-and-slash mob massacre. Attack your opponents when you see an opening, focus on staying alive when there isn't one.

Lastly, don't feel bad dying... many many times. It's part of the game (so much so that it was integral to the lore in Dark Souls). You'll die a lot, just pay attention to what killed you and get creative with how to avoid it next time. If you get swarmed by a mob, try to separate them next time. If an enemy killed you with a giant right handed swing, hug his left side next time. That kinda thing.

Good luck!
