You guys arent alone, I spent a good 3 hours last night on this bit gradually learning how to play the game (my first foray in the souls type games).
A great tactic that will save you being over run is to take care of the enemies on the main road then heaf up to the right (up the stairs. Then from there you can run down to the main path and lure them up the stairs three at a time and take care of the. Then you can bypass the sniper at the far end and run up to the opposite flank and take care of the dude on the coach and the wolf leaving you with the sniper at ground level.
Then unfortunately the next area us just as hard. I got what I thought was really far only to get absolutelt battered by a group of rats.....which threw me back at the starting area...
Does anyone have any tips for genuine noobs at these games. I feel like I have formed my own strategies but i dont think they are right...I seem to be almost winging it throug.
Still as hard as it isis, i played the same area for three hours straight, must be doing something right.
Also another silly question, when do I get another checkpoint/save. My nerves cant take It?
Thanks!
Thanks, would have taken me many hours to realize.Hm, once you get 10 insight go to the fountain next to the house and it'll let you purchase a bell that is effectively a soul sign
My pleasure! It truly wasAwesome stream earlier! I am thankful to have seen your first few hours of the game.
Regarding the 3rd(?) boss up on the tower with the gun:
He fell off the tower and now I can't find him. Is there something I'm supposed to get from him?
The game may be too hard for me. I'm having to change strategies that I picked up in Demon's/Dark Souls. The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that enemies spam attacks instead of feeling as if their stamina is depleting (which helped a lot in Demon's/Dark Souls).
It's more like Demon's Souls though in terms of their being no bonfires every where and the overall world design and atmosphere.
You're welcome, and have fun with the game
Oh yeah is there a good tactic for the hunter inOld Yharnam, the dude with the Mini Gun on Top? He totally wrecked me, he is so fucking fast, are there any good strategies for him?
My pleasure! It truly was![]()

Probably.Tried to co-op with my friend. We both rang the respective bells in the same area but nothing happened. Matching passwords and both any region. Can I just chalk this up to launch window servers?
Here is a video of my Cleric boss win....went down to the wire....thank-you FROM software you have my $$$ for life.
So while watching my brother play we found out you don't even need to pass the wolves on the bridge to get to the first boss. He fell down somewhere at the house with the laughing women and landed at the place with the dogs in cages. He could just backtrack a bit to the house shortcut.
1) yes
2) yes
3) depends on what you want to buy. you can often farm items like blood viols and silverbullets. I would mainly use the echoes to level up and buy equipment and weapons you want
Respawn of all the enemies. Depending on the area and your skill this can be a big con![]()
Fast climb up the ladder while pressing O, once you get to the top start shooting him as soon as you can. After you hit him a couple of times he should fall off. If you can't get the item he drops just come back later after going back to the hunstmen's dream and it should be reachable after that.
I think you're talking about the drop to the sewers just before the wolves. The drop I was talking about is even earlier, at the place you see the guy with the brick slamming on the door.Yes, i posted that earlier (fast moving thread i know). Haven't seen Cleric beast so far but are already fighting Father G (from the first lantern to the left through the gate instead of right).Struggled with the wolfs till i used the way after the drop and avoided them for a long time. Enemies in the sewers are not that hard.
Many also just run past the wolfs but i haven't tried that.
General good idea is to destroy all crates/objects in this game.
I'm having a nightmare with the Cleric beast.
I'm a souls veteran and this game is hard. So much harder in the early stages than the others.
I made a mistake picking the Cane/professional, I thought I would be able to handle this but the DPS from the cane just isn't good enough. I have a couple of options. Right now I have the cane +1 and 19 skill.
-I can try and get the Saw Spear, I think it's nearby but I don't really want to use a guide. I think there's some gear down there too? I have found the entrance to the sewers and I've opened the shortcut.
-I can re-roll and start again. I do like the Cane for crowd control but I'm wanting to use the Hammer/Holy blade as another weapon eventually. What's the stat requriements for those two? I don't want to look it up 'cos spoilers.
-I can grind some and loot up. I'm out of molotovs and vials, but there are enough vial drop enemies next to the short cut I suppose. It would take a few runs against the werewolves and the brick guys to get enough vials to get a proper go at him again.
Thoughts?
Hmm, I think I might be doing something wrong.
After the first lantern I take a right, and fight through all the townsfolk and head into the courtyard where the big dude is slamming on the doors.. After that there's a very long section without any lanterns. I feel like I'm missing something, because it's a lot of progress to lose.
Anyone?

I just used whip mode to get through it. Cane was +2 though, think I was like level 13 or so. Use molotovs to soften it up if you want.
That said you're early enough that if you want to restart, you may as well with a different build/weapon.

Is there any cane user video decimating the first two boss?
At first I was sceptical about that whole "stay aggressive and take risks" approach but now I see how awesome it is. If you can hone your skills you can end up becoming fucking rambo in this game.
Got into a fight with like 7 enemies at once and didn't have to seperate them to kill all of them.
You could almost never do that in previous Souls games

You need to open up doors and shortcuts that lead to the first two lanterns. You won't get more lanterns until you beat bosses..
So I need to fight my way through those long parts of the game + getting the bosses right in one shot? That can't be for real.

Okay, so is it returning to the Hunter's Dream that triggers the respawn of the enemies? Is there a way to tell which enemies are dead forever and which ones will always come back?
Thanks for the info guys!
