Main story Amy is easy. Depending on your build and style, Defiled Amy can be the hardest fight in the game. Way more health means you have to learn the fight properly.
I didn't beat her until I learned all her moves. Now, after 50 tries, I can defeat her blindfolded lol

So whats up with that large brown door, which is by a cliff next to where the grand cathedral is. You approach, blue phantom arm grabs you --> dead. Am I missing something?

Fire is super effective. And You already opened the door if you are here.
Super effective on what? I haven't used any elemental damage at all yet, probably making things way harder on myself than needed, lol.
The axe is really really strong. The charged R2 in 2hand mode is extremly good at staggering all kinds of enemies. hell, even the charged R1 knocks over a ton of enemies.
Charged R1..?

Love the cane but also can't wait to ditch it for NG+. Any recommendations for a not slow but powerful weapon? Nothing super OP though and decent range is a positive. I'm also down for a unique wacky experience but not clunky. I'm leaning towards the Burial Blade, coming from a cane play-through.

Ludwigs? Or is that too slow for you. I often find the 1H mode comparable to 2H.

I think that's my other option. I'm going to get +10 on Ludwigs in case I prefer it in NG+ over Burial I think. Not sure the rest of the group is quick enough or has enough range.

The arm that grabs you is actually a thing that you see coming when you walk by the door. It's this weird blue warp-like pattern. There's two things to it if you don't mind being spoiled:

The first is that you can get the Tonsil Stone from a person inside of the house in Forbidden Woods. If you have that on you when you get grabbed, you will be sent to the Lecture Hall, which is a great place to farm blood echos.

The second thing is after you kill Rom, you will be sent back to this area and that door will be opened. The giant demon will still try to grab you though, so be mindful of that.

I platinumed this game about 2 weeks ago so I haven't been following the thread ever since, but is the strategy guide out yet? If so, does it have any information about the locked door in the area past the giant with the big ball and chain that nobody ever figured out how to open?

It's a cut area.

Oh yeah... from what I've heard, the Blades of Mercy are definitely what I want to make my secondary weapon on this character. Is there anything I need to keep my eyes peeled for so that I definitely definitely don't miss picking them up? Or do they just pop into the shop in the Dream sometime?

Thanks, much appreciated. I really don't mind being spoiled here since I'm long run out of patience when it comes to unraveling the ambiguity in these games. Just needed to know there wasn't anything for me to try at this time.

I literally just stood under her tale slashing her privates. Can you not do that in the Chalice version?

Complete Eileen's quest or
well, kill her.

Nope! haha

I've killed it before, it's very easy to bait the same attack and make her an easy kill.

*shrug* I found it extremely difficult to consistenlty bait the same attacks reliably. I got it done eventually and loved the fight but people saying it was easy had a very different experience than mine.

Nope. This is how I got it done.

I need build advice.

Going from memory:

VIT: 32
END: 30
Strength: 16
Skill: 31
Bloodtinge: 10
Arcane: 8

I'm level 78 I think. I use the Cane, the Blades of Mercy and occasionally the Holy Blade. I don't know if I should quit with VIT and just focus on Skill or go for keep going with Vit and drop skill and put some in Arcane.

For defiled I had 50 vit 40 end and I just kept pumping points into skill and strength as I continued to level. Our builds were actually similar when I was at your level. You may want to increase bloodtinge and arcane though, which is something I never did.

You'll be able to continue skill and vit with no problems. You have a lot of levels left.

take skill to 50, all the weapons you use have at least decent scaling with skill.
Only certain attacks with the blades will use the arcane damage and the scaling and base damage make it so that investing in arcane stat is not the best investment. This is compounded by the fact that most gems you see will improve your physical damage and not the arcane damage. The only thing you would want to buff arcane for IMO is the ability to use some of the hunter's tools.
After getting skill to 50 you could level Str to 25 which would be a minor benefit to your cane and a pretty big boost for LHB.
So I would take skill to 50 and then probably level up vitality if you don't use LHB much at all. Your endurance is honestly pretty good for some time IMO.

Burial blade is a fun weapon and looks boss. The 2h is fast enough and the moveset is good.
It's just that Ludwig R2 is beastly!

I just... I just beat Defiled Watchdog on my second attempt. I was doing pretty well the first time but then he wrecked me with his charge attack. The end of the second was so tense. I was out of vials and he had just enough health left that I'd have to make at least two more passes at him. After nervously tiptoeing around him for a while he clipped me and I said fuck it and lashed out. Luckily, it worked! The one time being greedy worked in my favour lol.

Also, this little clip is from a PvP match I had earlier. Either I was extremely lucky (again), or the roll i-frames are ridiculously generous.

Is more than 20 endurance necessary? I have the 15% endurance Rune, and haven't really felt I needed much more in my first play through, but for the final Chalices I'm not so sure. Thoughts?

Stamina is the most important stat in the game. More dodging, more chances to swing your weapon after you dodge into place. It hard caps at 40 End so unless you are intentionally going low level I don't see why not bringing it to 40.

Nope. I would say it's one of the least important stat. I beat the game & chalice twice with END at 12 & 15. It's really only important for PVP.

I've been enjoying this game way too much, just killed
Shadow of Yharnam
(yeah, a bit early yet). I'm still using the Saw Cleaver (not at +6).

Any recommendations on which weapon should I use? I've seen the Hunter Axe but I find it to be too slow for the way I'm playing.

Right now I'm in the mid 20's in str, end and vit. I've upgraded some skill and bloodtinge to be able to use more weapons.

Goddamit, I saved up all the pungent blood and antidotes I could find for the B
lood-starved
B
east
and finally got to the boss, only to use all of them and only get him 2/3rds of the way down. Actually fuck this boss, or any other boss that requires you to use the game's shitty-ass item system on the fly while some gigantic fucking monster bears down on you.

hahaha yeah pressing the down directional button while running for your life sucks especially when you pass your item on accident, haha. love this game. almost done. best game ever!

Just buy and test out the weapons and find out which moveset is the best for you. I would recommend Ludwigs Holy Blade based on your stats but that weapon is slow when transformed. Every weapon is really good though.

What area in the game is best for farming blood echoes on the quick and easy? Hemwick Charnel Lane?

Lecture building can give around 20k with moon runes in about one minute.

"I call it...the Asthmatic build."

Not sure what you are implying. Let's say you have 40 END, you can get 8-10 swings out, but how bosses are you going to let you swing more than 1-3x, especially later chalices, before beating you to a pulp. Thus, having more END does nothing and is wasted. Now, if you have no other place to spends echos and/or love PVP, sure, put it as much as you want into END.

I was just jokin'man. Low stamina = always out of breath.

I would love to see some video of you fighting the harder bosses with so little endurance. Maybe I'm overestimating it's importance in BB vs the other souls games where getting to 40 was usually an essential part of any melee build.

I mean, sure 1-3 hits but it's mainly about being able to fast dodge 3 times to get into position to land those hits and then dodge away again.

Probably did the clinic trick early on, used the echo glitch to power level, raced for the chikage.

Correct.

Defiled down, that took about 90 mins. I'll take it. It took me a lot longer the first time.

edit
I didn't do the echo glitch to level up, I have a video showing the level 36 Martyr kill.
