Elden Ring Nightreign |OT| Praise the Rain

I'm on about 20 hours played and only two bosses defeated.

This was terrible balancing of bosses that melee is essentially useless in this game imo.

Too many final bosses just fly around so only iron eye matters.
 
A few things that need to change/be included
A clock, I never really know how much time is left, so it makes picking targets pretty much a gamble
Camera full swivel, I dunno why it controls like this, but it's really hard to turn the camera if you're moving in the opposite direction you want to view, this has killed me many times because I simply can't see what I need to dodge.
A target indicator, yes fuck it, it's so bad how the bosses can just switch targets on a dime, and it of course always happens right when you think you're safe to cast something; there's already a red indicator for when you have full aggro, so why not a regular indicator as well?

I feel this one works great for ranged attacks, but it's just too clunky for melee, maybe also just have an option to hold a button.
Enemy attacks that go straight through walls, fuck that shit.
drop-in/drop-out coop, it seems there's a bit of a grace reconnect if you got disconnected, so the functionality is there, they just need to allow anyone to join in progress; people leaving because they are butthurt about something is just a giant waste of time.
 
I have tons of complaints on the game. Things that shouldn't have passed QA or beta test feedback.

Is fromsoft just too retarded to do basic video game shit?

List off the top of my head:
-No clock
-Map is cancer
-Game is too static
-Bosses feel like they have 10-15% too much HP or characters even with legendaries don't do enough damage
-Bosses have mechanics that just aren't intuitive without looking up a guide
-Too many flying bosses force the meta to be iron eye only matters
-No cross play and cross progression
-Lag on servers can be match breaking. I dedicated servers?
- No dual blade or fist class. wtf?
-Needs more exploration and secrets at round hold and in map
-Every run feels the same route. Get flasks, get legendary weapon if available, level up to 12+ before boss on day 3
-No voice comms
-Dog shit ping system
-Revive sucks to melee to get up and as a recluse is giga cancer to waste mana to try to get someone up
-Frame drops even on ps5 pro.
-Accessories shouldn't just be off Beatles, and they only drop one for 3 people to fight over.


Tons more I could list. However I just beat my third boss and got that cocaine high.

I don't think I'll beat this game and not from wanting to but just the repetitive grind of it isn't for me and the RNG of teammates.

Easily the worst FS game. 7/10.

This isn't the issue. It's the character quests (forgot the specific in game name). People have been stating that there's a matchmaking issue when you're trying to match with them active, and you'll queue what feels like forever because no other player else has progressed to that point yet.

I'm hoping they patch it soon.

For the camera thing,there should be a toggle in the camera options for autocenter view or sth like that. Just disable it and you can move the camera freely.

I'm still loving this game. Beat the 1st Nightlord today, didn't play much yesterday as I was busy. Definitely pick up a bow or crossbow to shoot him from a distance. The rememberence quest for Wylder is next up for me. All I play is Wylder- saving the others to master later. My son who has never even touched Elden Ring or a Souls game picked it up after he saw how much fun I was having. I put 200+ hours in Elden, and this one is shaping up to be even more than that one. On another note, I'm not surprised how divisive this one has been with people. Gaming is just so lazy in this era. People want to win all the time without developing skills and move on. There is nothing wrong with that at all, but this game harkens back to the day where you bought a game and mastered it because there just were so few games coming out every year. Like I said before, this one really reminds me of the days of fighting games in the 90's. I had a Neo Geo and when I spent $250 on a fighting game on that system, I played it until mastery. The last bosses were always cheap in those games to a point that you would die easily again and again unless you had mastered it. They were designed to suck quarters out of people as they were arcade games, but once you had adequate skill, they became manageable. This is that same kind of thing. I'm hoping when they patch it next week on SP, they give an option to leave it just as hard as it is now. To me it adds a lot of value to the game to demand a high level of mastery. You buy a lot less games, too on the flip side. This may be the last game I buy for a long time.

My hands are in literal pain today from last night's marathon session lol, might need to take a break today.

Took my Ironeye into the sparring grounds to test some stuff out. I was curious how something like Dex +2 stacks up against something like ATK power +2. Conclusion: Dex wins due to how it compounds with existing Dex, obviously this is class specific but the same idea should apply across other classes.

Parry fest against the Crucible Knight is a thing of beauty 💯 I'd say Executor and Revenant are probably the best for solo play but you've really got to learn their mechanics properly. Any character can be viable though with smart play and the right combination of relics, you also need a little something called "skill" 😄
 
This game hasn't clicked with me yet. I'm a huge FS fan. The flow is like Souls on crack. I'm also playing it solo, so I must not understand everything. I'll get off to a good start and then the boss takes forever to kill.

I'll keep playing. I noticed you can get buffs off rituals and I'll upgrade some weapons. There's a perfect formula in there, but something's missing or something needs fine tuning. Solo hasn't been that amazing. I've played ER start to finish 6-7 times. It's gotta be the solo part.

What's obnoxious is watching some of these videos because of how much time is spent figuring this stuff out versus starting from scratch, aka rouge like. That's great that someone spent 60-100 hours already figurine this out 🙄

I swear that Ongbal person has no other job or cheats. I want to like it more than I do. lol I'll end my rant there. It'll probably get better with time.

I'm almost at that point where I want to wait and see what future updates do to this. 🤪

F*ck Fortnite and PUBG and their shrinking maps. /s

Beat 4 of the bosses now which unlocks the final.

Hmm. Curious if that's manageable.

Trying to finish chapter 6 of my characters story too. Seems to be the final one so I'm guessing the reward will be really good.
 
I'm going to wait a week or two before I retry playing.
By then people should know what they are supposed to do instead of running around aimlessly like headless chickens and enough people should be advanced enough with their remembrances so I don't have to wait forever with the matchmaking to advance mine.

Why in gods name is there no vote to restart or vote to quit option? So stupid.
 
Finally beat the damn dog after 2 days and maybe a dozen runs. Played Guardian exclusively. I had to watch a video to figure out how Steel Guard actually worked-figuring that out helped a LOT. I think the only reason we were able to beat Tricephalos is that I lucked out and got the ability to shoot frenzied flame while walking. So I would Steel Guard, and then while I was blocking I pelted the boss with fireballs :) I'm having a great time

5 bosses down.

Got the frenzied boss and the knight left, as well as the final boss.

Will try final boss on repeat tomorrow to see what happens if I can get it done.
 
FS games all are about atmosphere, and the difficulty of the games beautifully contributes to the hopelessness and oppressiveness of their worlds, and the heroism of overcoming that.

But this game ruins that. The rush feeling, over emphasis on mechanics, and arcadey format of the roguelike runs all undermine what makes FS games great.
 
You've got to be fucking kidding me lol, was literally yelling "noooo! NOOOOO!" as I was being revived but of course they couldn't hear me with no voice chat 😂 First attempt at this boss and it was with randoms as usual, we had a hell of a run going, so close!

Agree. I have fun too. But damn melee classes getting rekt at the final bosses has nothing to do with difficulty or skill anymore. Its just plain bad balanced.
I couldnt beat the first Boss until i found randoms who all selected iron eye aswell and we were shredding that boss suddenly lol
Second boss i stuck now is ass aswell.
They either have to make it easier to lvl up or slow down the ring time so that you can explore more freely.
I also would like to see some kind of perma leveling for you character or let me at least upgrade my starting weapon permmantly.

The platforming sucks still, they did it much better in sekiro, its too inconsistent here and can get you killed when the circle is coming. Also revive system needs a revision.

Btw there are only 2 map modifiers in the game? Volcano and rot forest? really? They better have more coming for free

Ironeye is OP as fuck and really fun to play. He is good at dealing damage, avoid dmg and ressing allies.

Playing with 3 of the same melee class seems to work well.
I just watched this video of 3 guardians killing everything without much trouble.

There are currently 4 afaik but yes, they should be adding more free content. In fact, they should have had four actual maps from the start, Limgrave, Caelid, Lurnia and Atlas Plateau, maybe there are plans further down the line but even with what's here I can easily see myself spending 100+ hours with it.

First Elden Ring with its massive open world, and now this... I think I'll satisfy my need for a 30-40 hour linear soulslike with the sequels to Lies of P and The Lords of the Fallen. Hopefully they won't go down the same path.

Second boss down on first try with randoms and my first time playing raider. That was an adrenalin rush especially with the awful 1 second pauses on my 5000 card on the endboss lol. Fix cant come soon enough. Now im addicted and ngl i was hating on this game before release

On the bright side, if this is what it takes for fromsoft fans here to finally venture outside of Fromsoft games and try the other highly rated Soulslikes, then I'm all for it.

Not saying you specifically, as it sounds like you've played some others, just talking generally. I also recommend the Remnant games if anyone here hasn't tried them.
 
I haven't at all. Only issue I've experienced is the absurdly long load when I continue from the main menu.

I do but my game stutters all over the place and on the second boss with his second phase i got 1 second pauses aswell. Waiting for a patch and a new driver to fix this on the latest nvidia cards, because ofc it has issues in this game aswell

I had a really good time today with randoms. All good players. You mostly get newbies on first boss, after that, its pretty smooth sailing, because those people have experience now
 
Fuck yeah, just beat Gnoster on my first attempt with randoms, Ironeye/Recluse/Revenant, we melted through everything 💯
My crew and I are on Gnoster now. Three attempts so far. Our weapons were doing the opposite of melting them; we run out of heals while lightly chipping away at their health. And there's a move Scorpion & Moth pulled out at the end where they charged seemingly from one edge of the map to the other three times while firing projectiles and ground spikes in front of them. I was the last one standing, dodged two of the sweeps but the third got me.
 
Last bosses feel like Elden Ring endgame again. Ridiculous damage output from bosses and aoe, that I'm starting to wonder what is even the point of a healthbar when pretty much everything does like 75% of your health. Or maybe it's because I'm playing Recluse.
 
Anyone notice that on night 2 when facing the second Nightlord you have to fight *two* bosses before the Nightlord? First time I got Ancient Dragon followed by Dragonkin, this last run it was Ancient Dragon followed by Crucible Knight who summoned a hippo when he was down to 50% HP. Both times we cleared them but God damn, these are some intense battles. This Nightlord can eat a dick too, hits like a god damn ton of bricks and you better run out of its AoE grav bubble in time or everyone is getting wiped.

I'm getting close to the point where I'm ready to declare this my favourite co-op game of all time, was NOT expecting that despite my love for FROM, they absolutely nailed it. So many heroic moments, rising victorious and cheating death or falling into the abyss right when triumph is in your grasp, the epic moments never end.

It is not a cash grab. I loved the beta and decided to buy it and I'm loving the full game as well. It's basically a boss rush Elden Ring with focus on coop.

Finally got time to try it out - two expeditions in and it's hella fun!

To me this seems like a bloody excellent and genuineway to re-use assets and capitalize on a popular game - taking cues from the mødding communities and other trends, and build something new with your existing game from that.

Works great with randos but I can only imagine how much better it can get when playing with friends.
