Not sure what the trigger is, but I did not have Alfred summons available for BSB on either NG or NG+. I did VA before BSB each time. I know I talked to Alfred and told him I would cooperate with him each time prior to getting to where his summon sign is for BSB. But I also opened password door (but didn't go through) before going to BSB, so may that is the trigger why I could not summon him.

I am not sure what the trigger is whether he is summonable or not, but it must be something I missed on ng or ng+

I never summoned him. wasn't sure how either during NG. I didn't even bother going back to BSB in NG+. heard he basically destroys BSB.

Which bosses are difficult and which are not ultimately do come down to play style. I beat Eb on third try, but later found out many found her hard. Father G took me a half hour and some beat him on first try. It all depends on personal preferences.

Yep, had no problem with ML the first time since I was using Blade of Mercy, it's only when I fought him with Ludwig Blade that I found out why people say it's one of the harder fights.

Didn't realise you could Summon Alfred for C
leric Beast
. Makes me wonder if you can summon him for F
ather G
aswell if you fence hop.

I don't think so, since you can only summon NPC help if there is a note that tells you to. (I have only seen those notes at
BSB
and C
leric Beast
).

I don't know if any of them really count as "difficult" for me. Some took me a bunch of tries, but once you figure out the pattern they're all pretty simple. I didn't get very far in the chalice, so I could be wrong. In the other Souls games there were times where I felt like I was just being crushed by a boss and I didn't really get that here.

The one that shocks me is people's reaction to
Rom
. I thought that was one of the easiest bosses in the game. Kind of a weird, relaxing atmosphere compared to the other bosses as well.

Just wanted to chime in on how much I love this game. I never really played the other Souls games. Demon's Souls for a little bit, never got passed the tower knight boss (think that was the name), and a tiny bit of Dark Souls. Could never really get into it, and I sucked at Demon's Souls.

But I'm completely engrossed with Bloodborne. The art design really appeals to me, love all the areas (Central Yharnam holds a special place in my heart now), and the combat is great.

Finally beat the game last night despite trying to take my time and do as much as I could. I also started on the Chalice Dungeons, up to Lower Pthumeru now, getting wrecked by Rom for some reason.

Agreed completely. I beat Eb first try but struggled a lot with BSB, Amelia and Rom.

The first time I fought the Cainhurst Bloodcrow in the cathedral was on NG+ and it wasn't that bad. I think I downed him on my second attempt. But fighting him in a fresh NG run....holy shit, he's become the biggest prick in the game.

Agreed! The last game I beat in these recent From games is Demon's Souls. I was pretty far into Dark Souls but never finished but this made me want to go back and complete that game. Bloodborne is absolutely my favorite PS4 game!

I'm hoping its not just me but I'm getting worked by the dude with the snake robe and his buddy in the chalice hinterlands depth 3. anybody have any tips. he has the Ludwig and uses arcane.... I too have Ludwig and use arcane. I can almost take him out but when his buddy shows up I get got real quick.

Yeah, I found Alfred's one in Central Yarnham. I'm actually a little curious just how far they will follow you. I remember in Dark Souls the AI could use ladders, if I the AI does in this then I could probably lead him up to F
ather G
. The issue would be getting to Alfred before that.

His friend goes down very quick. Consider applying a dose of wreckage to him when he pops up. He should die rather quickly.

I beat them on my first attempt. But it was a fun fight. His buddy has very low HP.

Yup, I think that is very cool. I know a lot of people struggled with Papa G, but I destroyed him on my first attempt. On the other hand, I needed over 10 tries on Vicar Amelia, while I have seen videos of people absolutely wrecking her.

So I thought that beating V
icor
A
melia
and getting
the game to go nighttime would cause the guys that can kill you to take you to Yar'ghul to show up, but they didn't. What is the exact trigger to make them appear?

Beating BSB will make them appear.

So whats the big reveal/secret or whatever hullaballoo they were talking about for the guide anyways

It seems like Bloodborne has been mostly disected and revealed

Yeah, I don't think there's anything new. Given the amount of people who no-lifed this game since day one I'm pretty sue all its secrets were cracked within the first couple weeks.

According to ENB it was just "beast mode". The frenzy effect.
Frenzy was a poor translation choice. The word "frenzy" sounds like it's referring to a bestial state of mind, but the condition is actually the opposite, when you gain so much knowledge your head basically explodes from madness. Case in point, insight slows down beasthood and decreases frenzy resist; the more you know (and the more eyes on your brain), the slower you become a beast but the faster you go mad from knowledge overload.

"Madness" would have been a better name.

Why in the hell do I hit like a wet towel against E
britas?
. I see some dudes hitting hard against her. I got most points in skill so I should be getting decent output with the cane and maybe the blades of mercy right?

Agreed. I was always confused why it was caused Frenzy. I personally thought something like sanity would have been better.

Doesn't that just give you a rush like no other?

I don't know why but I can only fight bosses standing up.

I love it. I went in expecting to kill it on one attempt because I know exactly what it likes to do and I ended up dying 5 times when it was at sub 25% health.

Abhorrent Beast is the hardest boss in the game. It's the only boss that can kill me with one simple mistake.

There has to be a Rune/Armor combo that gives you a small amount of breathing room

I totally put on Choir Gear and Arcane runes and was able to survive Chalice Rom barrages (at least until third phase)

Or you can just powerlevel and boost Vitality lol

I just beat his level 5 Chalice version last night. He isn't that difficult.

1. When he does his 3 hit tornado pound on the ground, go for at least two hits. That's the best attack string to counter on.
2. You can get good one hits (or maybe more) in after he does a few other attacks. One would be his big single smash to the ground which gives you time for one hit. His main slash attacks (could be 2-3 in number) also leave him open for one hit. Same goes with his small flurry attack. The rest of his attacks are likely risky. Dodge back after you're done attacking.
3. Keep your distance from his silly phantom punch that goes past range.
4. Dodge back for the rest of his attacks except his two hand force push thing. Dodge to the side.

EDIT:
I caned him FYI. Number of attacks based on weapon speed / range my vary.

I don't have trouble with AB, I was just commenting how it's the only boss that can reliably kill me with one mistake. I love that about it. It can ruin a perfect no hit run in seconds.

Finally beat E
brietas
on my own, took about 10 tries at about lvl 90. Would've been a cane walk if not for the annoying rush attack and twin swipes at middle range.

There seemed to be another lamp post between the fight and previous lamp post. Can you get down there somehow?

Took me forever too

That damn hitbox on the rush is brutal.

I just stayed glued to her sides and tried to get in position behind her when it made sense to.

At least those attacks tend not to hit as hard and you tend to bait out the headslam more often and less spell casts.

Hmm, I was
trying to get to Old Yarnham from the back way through Yarghul to avoid triggering the hunter going hostile (since I heard you can befriend him). I might have to go through Bergynworth to get to Yar'ghul that way, then.

Don't need to go that far.
I went through Old Yharnam while he was hostile (never attacked him), beat BSB, went to Yahar'Gul via snatchers, tried to beat Paarl but didn't manage lol, then went back to Old Yharnam lamp and behind Djura to make him non-hostile.
I hope this isn't too confusing.

So when you went back to Old Yarnham after your failed attempt at Paarl, was that via BSB lamp or the regular lamp? And will he simply just no longer be hostile for no particular reason?

Does killing his hunter partner kill any chances of this working?

Hey everyone! Long time player, first time poster in this OT. I'm looking to do some coop in Bloodborne for the final trophy for the platinum. First up though is the Defiled Chalice which is kicking my ass.

I'm level 119.

Anyone out there interested in helping me out? Thinking later today if possible.

Platinum get!
Man what a ride. Feels good to have beaten all bosses by myself. I think I'll wait with NG+ until the eventual DLC though.

Went from the regular lamp and via the boss shortcut. When I climbed the ladders to him he walked slowly towards me and didn't attack and asked how did I get behind him. I didn't kill the hunter that is in the courtyard. Killing beast when going to be his friend might make him aggro. Also if you want to farm shards in that area do it before being his friend since he will become hostile immediately if you kill any beast in that area.
