Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Video – Time To Go To War

There were PS4 button prompts during last year's Sony E3 demo, which turned out to be a misdirection. Really, unless the game in question is console-exclusive or the version of said game is categorically stated, chances are it's the PC version.

This trailer states the footage is captured directly from a PS4. That seems pretty definitive to me.

Button prompts and saying captured on a PS4, the Press (and gaf) would go to town on them if this was not the PS4 version.

I just hope this will at least run on my GTX 560 Ti. I don't care if I have to play 720p at low settings.
I don't feel like getting a new graphics card at the moment.

They didn't say it's the PS4 version so I'm guessing it's not, for the million time- button prompts doesn't mean this is the console version just like it wasn't back at E3.

I really hate the vehicle combat.

But the game looks pretty damn amazing when this was really running on a PS4.

I think the vehicle combat looks stunning. Including the evasive maneuvers and the line of fire icons are really a fresh take on vehicle combat.

Uhhh, the beginning of the video literally says: "The following footage was captured directly from a PS4."

It literally says at the start captured directly from PS4...

The Eurogamer preview sounds like they thought the game has moved too far from what made the series special. Yet to read the other previews but it didnt read like a positive one.

I was making a general point. Notice that I made neither a direct nor indirect reference to the titular trailer.

Edit: Apologies if it seems as though I singled you out. I'd edit in the other posts if the S3 browser didn't force text pastes to the bottom of the form.

If this is how the PS4 version looks... I can't even imagine PC with the Nvidia effects on. Just hope they're well optimized!

What the hell is up with Batman's voice when he says "If you're lying, I'll break the other one"?
The performance in that little segment is all over the place and then immediately afterwards his voice is back to normal

Edit: John Noble's voice. Man. That casting is too god damn good.

I am hoping it has moved on from the previous gen games to be honest...They had good mechanics, but I always felt they never quite achieved top drawer. The narrative were particularly at fault, though I don't have much hope this one will be more coherent. Seems a lot better open world than AC though...

Looks like Batman. Not at all excited...feel like I've played a ton just like it over the last few years.

I'll check it out at a discount down the road.

Endgadget sounds even more like it wished it was AA. "It's not Batman." Geez.

In AC i felt more Batman than i ever did in AA, so if it's more like the former that's great, Batman was born to fly around Gotham :)

Whoops :X
It looks great than :)

Looks fantastic. That grab/juggle he did to the guy looked amazing. And it seems that there a lot of destructibles when driving around. Like the staircase for example; I thought he was going to smash right into them like any other game.

Hmmm, noticing the that screenshots feature streets crowded with vehicles and construction equipment, debirs, garbage, etc, but they're pretty empty on the gameplay video.

I thought he actually clipped through it but maybe he destroys it.

Yeah the Eurogamer preview does sound a like lukewarm. I have loved the other Arkham games, so this is a must buy for me, but the heavy focus on the driving (races etc) is not something I am looking forward too. What I enjoyed about the previous games is the wide range of characters, environments and the combat.

Looks just like the previous Batman games.. I was more impressed with the earlier footage. There doesn't seem to be anywhere near as many dynamic lights as it before. Can't wait for a DF article on this. Getting it day 1 regardless.

jesus christ - very amped.

the batmobile fight sequence is a bit weird conceptually...it pseudo hovers and strafes. i'm sure the gameplay and handle feels good though.

can't wait to get my divebombing and gliding skills back up to speed

Batmobile strafing shootbang looks as terrible as ever. Game looks fantastic but it just seems like more of the same with Batmobile stuff added

I read AC as Assassin's Creed and i was like: the world has gone mad, i don't want to live on this planet anymore.

That intro of AC, still one of the best yet.

Eurogamer doesn't sound too convinced by the game. Sounds like he wished the game was nore like AA.

Pretty much exactly what the Engadget review was saying (mind you, I didn't even know that Engadget covered games stuff). The previewer apparently loved AA but didn't like AC, so it's a foregone conclusion that he wouldn't enjoy AK.

Anyway, game looks brilliant. Really excited for it.

Is it just me or the batmobile is kinda unnecessary because you go just as fast flying. It's like a car in Infamous.

Ok reading the Engadeget preview.

Batman's dank, wet world is gloriously represented even if it feels like you've been on these streets before. In fact, if Gotham seems overwhelmingly familiar when you start playing, that's because the city, though significantly bigger, does indeed borrow architecture from the last game.

That familiarity isn't a bad thing, though, as continuity between Batman's video game adventures should enhance the fantasy that you actually are the Caped Crusader. This is his city and while it should change -- especially after the middle of town was converted into a freaky prison colony in the last outing -- it shouldn't be wildly different every time.

What the fuck did you expect? Arkham City they built INSIDE Gotham. and this game is set just weeks or months after Arkham City. so how much change did they expect?

I got to indulge in three Batmobile-centric mission types in the demo: bomb disposal, Riddler racing (seriously) and a chase sequence where I tried to catch the jetpack-rocking villain Firebug. To Rocksteady's credit, all three were pretty entertaining

Firebug, is he like Firefly's sidekick lol. I think next time they should have someone read this before publishing it.

I'd just rather have a flawed Arkham Asylum than a high-quality open world of distractions any day of the week.
That sums up the review, and i love both AA and AC, I lean toward City being by favorite since i played it more. but both this and the Eurogamer seem the same that its more like Arkham City and they liked Asylum more so this loses points.

Batman at the bottom of the elevator was 20/10, game of the century.

The laser positioning tank metagame is pretty interesting, too.

The voice acting in this game is like a parody.

Looks all right, same ol' arkham batman, but with tanks.

Right now I still feel pretty lukewarm on this game. The visuals look good at a technical level, but I'm still not a big fan of the Arkham art style. Vehicle combat in the video didn't look particularly fun.

Still, given how much I liked Arkham Asylum, I'm always willing to give this series the benefit of the doubt, even if I do feel like there's a chance this game could be another warning against preordering.

Yeah the sense of speed isn't up to snuff. The car needs to feel like it's barreling through the city like an uncontrollable locomotive. It looks slow and floaty. It doesn't seem like it has any weight. It doesn't look or sound imposing. I'm not really thrilled about the car stuff to be honest.
