Question: How are GAF members able to play together?

I have a few gaffers on my friends list but it always takes longer to play with one of them and only a few matches at all

but you guys talk of a GAF room and post about your matches without making a fuss

It's a unique ability, yeah. Shoes-only.

When walking in enemy ink w/o this ability you move at 12.5% speed and take 50% damage over three seconds.

With the ability you move at 80% speed and take 25% damage over six seconds. This is a 1/4 reduction in damage and over a 6x increase in movement speed when in enemy ink.

It makes running on enemy turf a completely viable option. During firefights you are often quickly surrounded by enemy ink so it's pretty nice to be able to just run over enemy ink. No trying to figure out where it's safe to run. No trying to ink some turf quick to make an escape. You just run a bit and go BLAMMO!

In other words, I think it's the best because it has a drastic and useful effect while only taking up one slot and being on a shoe so you can still have Recon or Ninja Squid on your shirt.

Oh nice. Just ordered some shoes with this ability on them from Spike. Excited to try them out when I get home from work.

My strategy is different since I use Tentatek Splattershot. I use suction bombs wisely to get enemies out into the open or retreat by getting to the center and tossing a suction bomb on their platform from the crates in the center. If someone like a sniper/charger is up there, it forces them to drop off of that and into open fire so me and my team can work more freely and claim the center. Also helps that the suction bomb has good radius so it also gets some of the ground around the platform and I can also stick them upside down under grates.

I've been slowly using a mix of these two strategies with an emphasis on trying to contain opponents in the middle area via suction bombs and distraction before slipping out and trying to paint them into a box. When it works, it's pretty awesome, especially if my team mates get the idea fast, otherwise there's a lot of people not covering me or playing the role of bigger distractions leading to me getting aired out in a hallway. :lol

I wonder how matchmaking actually works. Does it kick out players that aren't linked with friends to make rooms for friends trying to join? Maybe just quickly matches them with another game?

It's interesting because it was fairly easy to get a all-GAF game last night, and I doubt the randos just left one after another.

I think they probably just move someone who's not a friend of anybody to a different lobby.

I brought my wii u with me on a work trip so i could play some Splatoon at night. Get everything working at the hotel, start Splatoon... and I'm greeted by the tutorial. Apparently splatoon saved on my external HD so I guess I'm foregoing any upgrades for the next few days.

We're getting a new weapon tonight, but I don't think higher level caps is in the works.

Yeah the NES Zapper, but I meant more weapons besides that. And I really hope they'd consider adding new level caps with additional weapons you can buy each level, because otherwise Splatoon (even though I love it right now) might get old very quickly.

Just from looking at the equipment I have already, I think I have a pretty good idea of the exclusive abilities...

Headgear Exclusive:
Opening Gambit
Last-Ditch Effort
Tenacity
Comeback

Shirt Exclusive:
Haunt
Cold-Blooded
Ninja Squid
Recon

Shoe Exclusive:
Stealth Jump
Ink Resistance
Bomb Sniffer

Does that seem about right? Missing anything?

Man, Bomb Sniffer seems totally useless. Isn't the rare ink mine the only thing it can really reveal for you? Or will it show suction bombs through walls too, or something? I dunno, it just seems to have such an incredibly limited scope of usefulness.

No but playing at full FPS with downgraded graphics would indeed be a fun instant purchase. Nintendo is capable but probably not willing.

Jesus. Fuckin defense force.

I mean the game runs at 30FPS as is Locally with 2 players with one on TV and one on gamepad, i'm sure it'd run worse Split-Screen with 2 players and 4 players?

That would be one hell of a downgrade probably seeing as Mario Kart has to go from 60 to 30 when there are 3 players and this game has to go to 30 with just 2!

Add in the online and having to track all the innk and sometimes the game lags that aswell as it is and you are dealing with WAY TOO MUCH.

And I aint a defense force, just thinking if Halo MCC struggles with stable framerate, how can this game do it?

I'm always legit frightened when he's on the other team, it's making me stay on my toes.

I just don't do enough damage quick enough. Nothing like seeing that astonishingly powerful roller raise thinking "get out of range asap and keep firing" only to get smashed. :lol

Maps change at 3, 7, and 11 pst
Pretty easy to remember

What time is that? If you're referring to the ones at like 9am PST that doesn't work for a lot of Americans as they're at work or school then. Nintendo directs are videos that can be watched away from home unlike Splatoon.

I'm sure they looked at what time would be best for the majority of people and unfortunately for you that's evening in America

Yeah, in sure it was that an not NOA deciding te time. Better nearly every european sleeping (and then half of them going to work and school until the afternoon) than some americans at school abd work that could wait only a few hours until afternoon../s

So tell me, if you've been leveling up at a steady clip and you cleared out the current inventory in all shops, you gotta wait the full day to see multi-star items still?

i agree with mines needing a boost btw, bigger blast radius would be the way to go imo

I unlocked everyone's favorite gold aerospray. I'm coming for you all! Except for the 3 on my team.

i remember back in the golden era of two days ago when i and some jp guy i played with once were the only ones using it :p

So how does this work, exactly. I've seen talk (and a spreadsheet) that implies equipment come with pre-defined perks. Are they not being randomly rolled as you unlock them?

And if they are pre-defined, what does the re-roll when you exchange a snail do? Does it randomize your sub-perks? Your primary perk as well? Does it leave your primary, and just turn your sub-perks into ? and you have to unlock them, and are they random THEN?
Main ability are defined. Sub perks are random. Spyke only rerolls subs.
