Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I seriously hope ranked gets better in later ranks. Right now it seems like it's all based on the luck of the draw, since I can't carry my whole team. Still, having like 18/4 stats compared to others having 1/20 feels bad.

Finally reached level 10 and unlocked rank battle, it's pretty interesting but I will sit out on it for now until I have unlocked better weapons and gears.

By the time you are in the B+/A-/A range, the players are nuts. Absolutely nuts.

Oh man I think I'm in love with the Aerospray MG. Only played two matches with it, but had the most points on the winning team both times. Only problem is Inkzooka isn't a great special weapon

Probably already has been mentioned but I didn't realize would dominant rollers could be in the new Port level.

I was on a team with all rapid fire weapons against a team of all rollers and I laughed at how bad we would win (since that match up would weigh heavily in our favor in other maps) and we got destroyed. Not that I couldn't easily take out rollers in other times, but they are quick and the perfect size to fill those entire corridor. If you meet a roller walking though there, if you aren't the first to shoot, they could roll you over without barely having to adjust, especially since they could potentially be faster than you even in your squid form.

Yeah its both the beat and worse since ambushes are really easy in the corridors. Then you get people who just run at you all the way and get shot by everyone :p

Aerospray gets a ton of points, I get the top score most of the time in randoms now. RG has a better loadout imo.

Ok gonna try and join a GAF game. I have basically lost all the progress I made in the last two hours on ranked, I was one win away from A+, and now I'm all the way back to A (30).

And wtf you can lose more than 10 points now? I lost 14 and 12 for a loss, that's bullshit.

just curious but does anyone bother to use Y to reset the camera at any point?

I've been simply rotating the with the analog stick but thinking I should use Y button every now and then for those quick turns

I used to think that but then I learned that it goes through walls and travels a pretty far distance, so it's pretty useful in a pinch.

I press Y at the start of a match and then I don't touch it until the start of the next match.

Requoting myself 2 pages back.

Yes a lot. Pressing the Y button actually orientates the camera behind to whatever direction your character is facing. So pressing down on the stick to make your character face towards the camera then pressing Y will make the cam do a 180.

Perfect for quick turning and getting the hell out of bad situations.

what the hell is the strategy for Splat Zone. I can hold my own in turf war no problem but i feel like such a squid out of water in Splat Zone

I was sitting there playing single player last night, and it totally dawned on me that the single player component of this is the 3D platformer people have been pining for for ages now.

The limited ink challenges from the Inkling squid amiibo are crazy. Both sponge levels have that restriction, and they're super stingy with the ink supply. At one point I was platforming across un-inked blocks, just to save a couple of drops of ink.

It's weird that they're paired with the super easy Kraken "time-trials", which give you at least 2 minutes more than you'd ever need.

If there will be a Splatoon 2 down the line, which is most likely, I hope they expand the SP mode more. Maybe 8 worlds and 6-8 stages per world, and some more unique boss battles (best part of the game for me).

Stay with the team, flank and find some high ground. It's all about how you position yourself.

Yep, positioning is huge. On the warehouse I like to stay to the side of the zone and throw grenades to draw them out and then sneak attack them. Most players don't check there so I go relatively unnoticed until splat.

Inkzooka is best at splatting foes because of its range and ability to go through walls.

But wait til you get RG with Inkstrike.

It seems like the only reason I'm gradually going up the ranks is because when you win you get more points gained than when you lose points. I'd imagine my overall record is about 50%. Probably isn't a coincidence since its random match making and I'm not good enough to carry the team consistently.

It's strange that the paintbrush type roller featured so prominently in prerelease trailers and commercials and such, and it's nowhere to be found in the base game. I bet it'll be our next weapon, or else pretty soon. I could imagine some kid even being sold on the game because you get to wield a giant brush, and then gets disappointed when it's not available.

It looks like it has a uselessly narrow strip that it paints, but you can swipe back and forth with it quickly for some purpose. Better melee maybe? It'd be cool if it's the only roller-type weapon with the bubbler, to make up for its shortcomings...

It looks super fast on foot, you can lead your entire team to the center of the stage in seconds

I actually think Inkzooka is the best special for killing people. You can dodge Ink Strike and Killing Wail relatively easily (most of the time) but Inzooka can wipe the enemy team and is great for getting rid of sniper nests. Aiming takes some getting used to and I still struggle to hit people below me with it

It acts as an extra timer. When you re-capture the area, you have to wait for that timer to go down, then your actual timer will begin to decrease.

OK.I get that I just don't understand them.nwhqt makes them pop up. What they are set at. Etc I'll figure it out by playing I guess.

agreed, just have to get to some high ground and make sure you won't fall off from the knock back
