Freaking awesome trailer. Man it was so epic. However....not too pleased with the shit Ma Kent said to Clark at the end of her monologue. "You don't owe them anything." Almost in the same assholish tone that Pa Kent said in MOS, which jarring to me. Really do not like this brooding Superman they are trying to push. I understand its a new take but man, we already have a brooding Batman. Maybe Clark lightens up in this film.

Yeah, that line my Ma Kent bothered me too. They really don't want the classic Kent parents in this franchise, not sure why.

What if we see Lex at the beginning with normal, actual hair and then it slowly starts to look worse and worse until it is obvious it is a full blown wig and he rips it off, exposing his baldness and reveals it was the Kryptonite he had the whole time that did it to him?

Looks to me that the official picture of bald Lex might be a mug shot from the end of the movie, and we'll see evil genius Lex next in either JL 1, MoS 2, or in Suicide Squad.

I'm thinking Barbra.

Maaaaybe but she's too young to be Babs in a world where Batman has been active for 20 years. I mean Gordon if he's still alive in this movie should be pushing 60 or older.

I think an aged up Carrie Kelley is just as likely and would make more sense given source material.

The identity of the Robin who was killed in this movie has been revealed via set photo hidden behind spoiler tag in this thread a couple times, I believe.

Assumimg it's who I think it is it is kinda a nice send up
to all three main Robins. Grayson is the one who is dead but he wore a Tim Drake costume and it is on display in the Jason Todd display case. It's a nice tribute to all three.

Very Arkham

Someone on the film crew probably played that and injustice one too many times.

Man of Steel is atrocious. I fell asleep. My friendship group burst into tears when Superman let his dad save a dog from a hurricane. It's utter shit.

Up there with Spider-Man 3 as complete and utter "how the fuck did that happen".

Why?

MoS is the best superhero movie to date.

If anything we should be excited.
It's soulless and characterless and nihilistic. Creepily so. We live in a world where movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Dark Knight exist, and you choose MoS? Mind boggled.

The only things MoS has going for it are Cavill's physical appearance and Crowe's decent performance. MoS is worse than Catwoman, because at least Catwoman is terrible in a funny way.

It felt like a cynical cash-grab, and it makes me wary that it was meant to be the launchpad for a whole Cinematic Universe.

I wonder if BvS's Bruce and Alfred will have a relationship that even approaches the one depicted in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. No matter how dark things got, those two came across as surprisingly authentic with their dialogue and banter. Too many characters in MoS were turned into exposition vehicles.

MoS had a great cast and fantastic action sequences but a very bad script that brought it all down to average levels overall. With a minor rewrite to flesh out some characters, add some humor, and polish the story up, plus remove that damned blue filter over the entire movie and MoS could have been a very good movie, it had the potential to be the best Superman movie to date. But Goyer went and fucked it up.

Thankfully the script for BvsS got some rewrites post Goyer, so hopefully that corrects his writing this time around.

Opinions are that guardians is actually a not so good movie the dark knight trilogy is not a SUPERhero movie like superman is and yes in terms of superheroes with superpowers MoS is the best movie, better than any other SUPERHERO movie.

lucky you, I was awake the whole time. Honestly one of the worst blockbuster movies I've had the mispleasure of experiencing

The thing that really got to me about Man of Steel was how it was so plainly designed to look awesome in trailers, and then it turned out to have absolutely nothing to back that up. Superman is barely a character in the movie. Lois is, as you said, a vehicle for exposition. Nothing about the film captures the spirit of Superman. It's just a list of Superman tropes checked off in the most shallow possible way, with an actually offensive amount of callous carnage thrown in, because mass destruction is cool, and apparently this version of Superman is just some alien dude that doesn't give half a damn about protecting anyone as long as he's got something to punch.

This indestructible superbeing just stood by while his surrogate dad got consumed by a tornado. Good call kid. And screw the population of this enormous city. Let's make like Dragonball and blow holes through a bunch of skyscrapers. But it's OK because look, he just saved some cowering extras named after characters from the comics. The action wasn't even cool IMO.

Thank you for the hatred of destruction which is the plot device for this movie, if it wasn't for such an opinion we wouldn't have this movie and the matchup

It's like you didn't even watch the trailer in the OP

If Batman vs Superman acknowledges MoS's destructive excess and leverages it for a humane, character driven story, I'll be all for it. The trailer implies that the movie will take this angle. I hope it works out.

If anything, Gotham = Detroit. Especially in this movie. They're going for the "former industry marvel fallen on hard times" vibe heavy, and not just because it was filmed in Detroit.

With how popular he is, there was no way they were going to keep him dead. He even has is own ongoing title now!

I always thought Gotham was NYC by night whilst Metropolis was NYC by day. That said Gotham is also kind of a gangbang of NYC and Chicago's skycrapers, Chicago's gangland and institutional corruption and Detroit levels of crime and disorder.

It does acknowledge it, batman taking on superman is built on the fact that superman's destructive nature must be stopped

The action scenes were clearly meant to be the central focus, which is why no thought was given to the consequences of all that wanton destruction in the movie itself. It felt like it was written by small children, who obviously wouldn't have any conception of civilian casualties and collateral damage, and thus wouldn't waste any time even considering it as they throw their action figures at each other while making explodey noises.

And some people consider this version of Superman to be their perfect Superman? Really? I mean good for them, but even regular, mortal humans would be willing to do more and risk more in any one of the scenarios MoS Superman found himself in.

I am pretty sure that most of GAF thinks that it's the best live action Batman suit. That's what I read in BvS threads anyway.

Ha I know it's based on Frank Millers Dark Knight a little bit.

But really, it looks awful. It's like a 'Murica XXL McChunky edition

Chris Nolan's Bat suit looked cool and more intimidating.

Edit:

They are taking a lot of cues from Miller's The Dark knight returns. The Batman logo is pretty much 1:1

I know. And I don't like his version one bit.

You just explained the entire reason batman is taking on superman in this movie, the sequel fully is acknowledging it so it cannot be a complaint for you anymore . The destruction, It's a plot device
