Ants are involved in this movie.

Some broader Mcu Connections/thoughts

I didn't like that they apparently resolved the Winter Soldier subplot (at least the search for him in the stinger), I did think Hank Pym was a bad-ass in the opening. Was nice to see Peggy Carter and Howard Stark (from Iron Man 2) in the opening.

It was nice we got the first real mention of Spider-man in this film. Wonder if it was always in there or added in post.

I mean... what's really changed with the Winter Soldier thing? It's not like they'll be hanging out with him at the start of Civil War. They'll still probably be going after him at the start of Civil War.

I'll guess we'll see, would be weird

Imagine more trying to get him help/checked out

Also if all you people haven't done so, I highly highly recommend reading the recent Ant-Man by Nick Spencer.

Funny as hell. Fairly tied into the Scott Lang and his daughter thing, as well as some ties to the comics version of Darren Cross.

Can you detail the both credit stingers? I know the one has to do with Winter Soldier. How about the other?

edit: nevermind. found what i was looking for:

Mid credits:

One of the plot threads that runs through Ant-Man is Hank Pym telling his daughter Hope that she can’t be a superhero because “it’s too dangerous”. He is of course wrong, and the characters go out of their way to tell him so. Part of his problem is that his wife Janet, The Wasp, was killed during a mission they did together back in the day and he can’t stand to lose his daughter too. But when they are successful at the end of the movie, Hank Pym realises that Hope is ready. He takes her to his lab and reveals that he and Janet were working on a new Wasp suit, but she never got to use it. He then says that maybe they were just building it for Hope. She replies with, “it’s about damn time.” A tease for Ant-Man 2 – or a role for The Wasp in Avengers: Infinity War?

Post-credits

Another plot thread that is kicked off half way through the movie centres around Scott Lang’s first mission, where he infiltrates The Avengers HQ and has a fight with Falcon (which you can see a tease for here). At the end of the movie, Michael Pena reveals to Scott that he heard that Falcon was looking for him to join The Avengers. In the post-credit stinger, The Winter Soldier is seemingly captured and held hostage by Falcon and Captain America. When Falcon asks Cap if they should call in Tony for help, Cap tells him no. Falcon then says, “I know a guy” – setting up Ant-Man’s appearance in Captain America: Civil War.

God Damn! These are cool. We are going full on comic book style here.
I can almost imagine a splash page with "TO BE CONTINUED IN THE MEGA MARVEL EVENT: CIVIL WAR"

Well he doesn't "give" it to her

He creates a giant ant during the climax... and later sees she keeps it as a pet

I wonder what ever happened to the giant Thomas the Tank toy he also created in that same scene, another great moment of that entire 3rd act

They should like donate it to a daycare because that would be dope

I am so hype about Hope becoming Wasp i think i enjoyed that 1st credit scene even more than the Civil War tie in. I'd love for them to sneak her in Civil War but it i feel like we have to wait till Ant-Man 2 or Infinity War sadly

She keeps it after a cop comments something along the lines of "that's one ugly dog." ;)

Figured I post this here, since it contains a MAJOR spoiler.

Who thought that was a good idea to put in a TV spot?

No one in my screening knew Falcon was going to be in it ahead of time. The surprise reveal rocked.

Are the ants friendly or are there some "scary" scenes. I have a kid, you know.

Honestly, I'd put them on par with the friendly ants in "Honey I Shrunk the Kids."

They're not quite as cartoonish (given better CGI these days), but they're all about being the good guys. Hell, the ants even get sugar cubes for the coffee on request.

Kevin Feige talks about
Falcon's
appearance in Ant-Man.

Feige explains how the scene came together.

It's the perfect scene for a heist movie

"That came about in a really natural way, and it was actually the idea of Paul Rudd and Adam McKay," Feige says. "Peyton Reed had pointed out that in heist films, there’s usually a preheist. There’s usually a little adventure mission the characters need to go on before the primary heist – to get a tool, or get a device."

They got the idea from watching
Captain America: The Winter Soldier

"It was Adam and Paul, not coincidentally, who had just seen the final version of
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
last year – and they said, ‘Oh man, they should have to go to get something and encounter
the Falcon
--- wouldn’t that be cool?’ Feige says.

The scene was a great way to tease
the new Avengers facility

"I said that would be cool, and not only that but I also told them we were introducing
a whole new Avengers facility at the end of Age of Ultron
," Feige continues. "So not only could they encounter
the Falcon
, but it would make sense if he had to go to what he believed was
an old Stark facility
and was unaware it had now become
a major Avengers facility
. It sort of naturally spiraled like that."

Did they ever think of including
more of the Avengers
?

"Not really, no," he says. "That’s part of the fun of the shared universe, though. Filmmakers see a film and they’re like, ‘Oh I’d love to do something with this character!’"

Keep an eye out for this cool Easter egg

"If you were to freeze the frame when Ant-Man is flying over
the Avengers facility
, there are new landmarks and buildings in that frame that you won’t see until Captain America: Civil War," Feige says.

Heh my cinema started going crazy when they realized what the facility was that Scott was trying to infiltrate into. Same also with the giant Thomas the Tank Engine gag.

Just got back from seeing it, and I was pleasantly surprised. Also loved all the small tie-ins to the whole MCU! Like, was the bomb that made the PYM HQ implode not the same kind of bomb that was used in one of the episodes of Agent Carter? Love things like this!

Got to say, I can't wait to see the Wasp! I really hope she's in Civil War, even if it's just a cameo.

Also the scene at the end when the thomas the tank engine got enlarged was hilarious. But also telling! Maybe we will see Giant man?

Hope will be the new Wasp. Janet maybe still alive, but I doubt she will still be it.
The thing is... They left it so obviously open that we'll see Janet in the future and she'll be perhaps the same age (with the Quantum Realm mentioned to not having time passed, which wasn't really referenced the rest of the film), and her face covered up so they can cast whoever they want to play her in an upcoming Marvel movie...

I guess it'll be up to whatever future screenwriters decide.

I had a thought: since the quantum realm is a tie-in to Dr. Strange, and you can see Janet during the subatomic shrinking sequence, what if Rachel McAdams' role in that movie is actually Janet rescued by Strange?

Probably not, but I imagine Strange will be the link to bringing Janet back.

My takeaway from that it was literally just a scene from Civil War lifted out of context and dropped into here, rather than its own one-off scene shot specifically for Ant-Man. I don't think Civil War will begin with the search for Bucky all wrapped up.

My understanding is that is exactly what happened.

"We got guys that crawl on walls" - Ooooh ho ho ho ho. I'm excited.
Yeah, the Falcon cameo and the appearance of the Avengers HQ was hype. Makes up for his lack of screen time in Age of Ultron.

It's likely Janet is alive, and she'll return. But for now, Hope as the new Wasp is going to be cool to see.

Also, I missed Haley Atwell. Where was she in the movie?
