Been and loaded my bank account up with some dosh today so i can afford to bump my pledge up a bit more tomorrow. Undecided how far

Well that news about Shenmue III getting a physical PS4 release being a possible Kickstarter exclusive might make me go over the edge and pledge $60. I've been on the fence since this KS started but I was leaning on the side of "wait and see it get released first" seeing that I was never a fan or have I ever played even a second of S1 or 2 before.
The fact that there's no S1&2 available digitally whatsoever (let alone an HD remaster for modern consoles) certainly doesn't help S3's case for a casual like me.

Sorry guys, I dropped it by $300. Timing of this KS sucked for me. Right after multiple other large KS projects, and just as I had other, more important things to spend money on. I really have no interest in the low tier rewards, so I guess I'll just pick it up on release years from now.
Don't worry about it mate. It'll still be an awesome game the day you pick up your copy.

No shipping fees on just the disc. Some of the higher tiers have a $10 fee though.

Yeah, but I'm pretty darn sure they'll release the two games after the news spreads about this game breaking Kickstarter records. Sega has already done emulation in the past, so it shouldn't take much effort.

I'd look at it once and sell it on ebay. Will be worth something one day as it will probably only be exclusive to Kickstarter.

Has anything been said on if they'll add a "free play" type mode? It'd be nice if ya could go back an travel around the towns and do jobs, play games, etc. freely from the story after you've beaten it. Lotsa games do it an even back when Shenmue & Shenmue 2 were new I felt its was something sorely missing!

Anyone seeing the comments on the Bloodstained KS page? They seem quite pissed at Shenmue fans for some reason. You would think they would understand the pent up frustration and energy a fanbase has for a particular franchise and wanting to see it progressed. I wish Bloodstained every success and I hope they would wish the same for S3.

This thread is general has been so incredibly exciting. I have been reading every post and the more i read the more excited i get on the shenmue train. Really hoping that this ks smashes my forecast prediction.

No mention of it at this stage obviously, but I highly doubt that's something that will happen. The story will probably lead out of China by the end. I personally don't see why you would need this mode. Just fire up the game and don't do any of the story stuff, lol. Shenmue had plenty of chances to do what you like without progressing.
Wow, really? That's pathetic if true. I find it weird when people compare completely different games. Why would anyone be mad at the record being beaten. Especially by a game like Shenmue 3 that people have been waiting 14 years for? People are weird, man.
It gives me hope for gaming going forward; seeing developers break free from publishers and doing their own thing. Beautiful.
And I look forward to Kojima's first Kickstarter.
Yeah, people don't want Shenmue 3 to get more money than Bloodstained because they have something against that. Hell, I'm intending to pick up a copy when it's eventually released. It just sends out a loud and clear statement about how much of a fanbase the series has to hopefully make it easier to acquire funding for 3 and any future titles needed to finish the story. You only have to look at the amounts both Kickstarters initially wanted to see that Shenmue's in need of more, because the games are just more expensive to make. So Suzuki needs all the funding he can get, and as many weapons as he can get to gather it. That's all this is about, really.
