You're not gonna be mistaking Cross as not a villain once he kill Frank near the beginning of the movie. That was really gross and disturbing way to die. Don't really expect that in Disney movie. You'd think they'll just vaporize the victim or something. But seeing that gooey remain and Cross casually wiping it out. Holy shit.

That was such a random and stupid scene. He just up and kills a guy over a slight disagreement, I mean it's so ridiculous in how it's handled.

Eh, hydra stuff is so minimal that I don't really mind. If it's not hydra, it's gonna be some random terrorist group.

The problem with the Hydra stuff for me is it just took any moral ambiguity out of Cross' character, up until that point he just seems like a particularly ruthless businessman who believes the Yellowjacket can help, but then it's just like "I'm going to sell it to HYDRA lol".

it's almost like he's the bad guy in a comic book movie

Who used to be Pym's protege. Even Iron Man did a better job in this area with Rockwell or the Mandarin.

They could have easily toned down Cross and made this a difference in opinion between Cross and Pym over the Pym Particle stuff but instead have to ham it up with Cross to the point that it's dead obvious Cross is a bad man.

Pym's not a great guy either. The whole point of every scene with Cross is to show how completely unhinged he is. This dude is straight up bonkers in a way that no other Marvel villain has been yet.

What exactly was it they said Tony was doing in the post credits sequence? Not sure i heard it right.

Liked the stuff like the reference on the newspaper, very very subtle reference to whats gonna go down in civil war maybe.

Tone down Cory Stoll?! Then why hire him in the first place? :)

Hank and Hope scene really got me. I was already teary eyed during their moment, than Scott just had to "ruin" it, lol. I laughed at his comment, got me to squint and that welled up tears just burst out. Had to remove both glasses (watching in 3d) and wipe my tear a bit after that.

Wait a minute, people thought the microverse was awesome? I thought the microverse was lame. It was like looking into a kaleidoscope, nothing special.

I did like every time they showed the world from the Ants view and wished they did more creative stuff with the ants while Scott was small. Especially the ones that could build structures.

Overall, it was an enjoyable movie but nothing to rave about. It's still better than Cap 1 and Thor 1 and 2 though.

Absolutely loved the movie! It burglared my heart! Loved the Spidey reference haha
I didn't quite understand the final post credits scene. So they just randomly found Bucky and he's in danger? Or was that an actual scene from Civil War? Also I never even thought about the art gallery from Daredevil! That's a really good point some of you made!

It was an actual scene from Civil War. Kevin Feige said that, but he did not say where in the movie it takes place.

I'm very interested in learning more about Wright's version of Ant-Man. Even though this movie apparently follows the same plot for the most part, they said his take was also very different and didn't necessarily mesh well with the MCU.

I hope we'll get more details about it in the future.

Amusing thing I've just spotted from the credits, Reuben Langdon (Dante) and Tom Kenny (Spongebob) are both in the movie in minor roles.

Kenny even has a line of dialogue!

So Antman is probably one of my favorite superheroes ever. I don't want to get all mopey but reading comics and his story in a marvel handbook in high school really made me connect with hank Pam and Scott Lang specifically.

I have been waiting for this movie for a decade. To see the unique powers displayed on screen was basically my dream and this movie delivered on everything I ever hoped it would.

Thoughts:
~ The Powers. The way they displayed the powers were spectacular. See Scott use his powers in creative ways was a joy to see.
~ The cast. Oh my god is Michael Pena hilarious in film. His "stories" were amazing.
Paul Rudd solid in role of Scott Lang. Believable as a down to earth guy with dry sense of humor. His interactions with his daughter, Cassie( whose fantastic and cute as a button) were something you don't see to much in superhero films or comics.
-Michael Douglas shine as my ideal hank Pym. For how generic this will sound, he really captured a man scared of what he unleashed on world and someone that realizes he's not as good or great man/father as he wants to be.
-Darren Cross played but Corey stoll was completely fine "villain" in movie. He had the right amount witty, motivation and ambiguity in scenes with hank Pym to not feel like a cookie cutter villain like malekith or stane. He played as best he could but obviously didn't push it where I could have fallen flat. I do wish they give a little more time to the Pym particles effect his mind. "Do I look like a monster" chills.
-Hope van dyne played Evangeline Lilly, who is rocking some awesome hair while being a cool and confident character. Her scene with Michael Douglas, learning about her mother fate really got to me. Can't wait till she becomes wasp!
~ This movie has probably one of my favorite scenes in a movie ever. It a long weird thing to put in Hollywood blockbuster and love for that. You will know when see it.
~ The Ants. How can forget the ants, they why looked was great but more importantly the way they were used as part of Scott's arsenal was creatively comic book. Rip Anthony.
~ The Action Scenes. From the brutal fights of Daredevil to man of steel's dragon ball z destruction, Antman's finds its niche with it's size altering power. From going small to run on a gun to fighting with mundane items like toy trains.
~ The Comedy. I'm not one to be critical of comedies since I don't particularly enjoy them but I thought this was really funny. Right up their with Guardians of the galaxy, not to overburdening.

This movie just has a ton of heart and as I said before probably one of my favorite movies of all time. I can't wait to see it again this weekend which is not something I ever had done before.

I'm very interested in learning more about Wright's version of Ant-Man. Even though this movie apparently follows the same plot for the most part, they said his take was also very different and didn't necessarily mesh well with the MCU.

I hope we'll get more details about it in the future.

Alot of Reed's additions to the story were some of my favorites from what I've heard. Stylistically though, yeah, I really wanna see how Wright would've filmed this.

The movie was really fantastic. I haven't payed attention to anything past trailer 2 and I was extremely surprised by how great it was. Breaking into Avengers HQ and fighting the Falcon was completely unexpected and had me smiling the whole time. If Edgar Wright getting replaced gave us stuff like the Falcon scene and the tip sequences then it was worth it.

There is an in interview here that highlights who did what regarding some of the movie scenes.

"When Adam and I came on, we had a series of conversations about things we had loved in the comics and had not found their way into the movie, and some certain ideas that we wanted to strengthen. I also wanted to increase the heist movie language, in terms of the visuals and stuff. For example, there's a handful of things we brought to the table - there's the tip montages that we do with Michael Pena, where Scott Lang - needs to know about a solid tip. And the idea is that Pena got to tell this story about the tip, make sure that it's solid, but he's a little ADD and he goes on walking rambles. That's something new that was never in those drafts that we brought to it."

lol, paging Jarmel!

I know they said it was Hydra, but one of the guys had a Ten Rings neck tattoo. I don't know what they're doing with that they way they've used the Mandarin, but I thought it was interesting.
Ok. WTF : O

And since there was a One Shot who adressed the Mandrain thing, the real Mandarin isnt completly out of the game.

Based Marvel. I just love this studio.

Yea what about it? When I was thinking of Wright, that wasn't exactly what I was referring to but stuff like the storyboarding for some of the final fight, some of the training sequences, and obviously parts of the heist like Ant-Man running up to the two guards after the vault scene.

So great.

Didn't miss much. I think people said its a scene from civil war out of context. Cap and falcon have Bucky and say they can't tell tony because of the "accords" but falcon says he knows a guy(Antman). Like I said its really out of context.
Its Spidey. Falcone was looking for a guy who can swing, jump and climb on walls.

He was looking for "A guy who shrinks" the chick was just previously asking him to be more specific because she had info on several different heroes.

Really? I feel like everything was setting Antman. Even after that scene its says "Antman will return" I think even during the tip scene falcon says he's looking for a guy who can change size.

In the german version, he was looking for a guy who can springen (jump), schwingen (swing) and an wänden krabbeln (crawl on walls)
Sounds like Spider-Man.

In English I am pretty sure Falcon says something to the effect of "We got people who can swing and crawl on walls. I'm looking for the one that shrinks.
