Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is coming to PS4 on July 28th

I like how everyone who bought the Vita version at release are getting screwed .

Want the better translation ? Rebuy the damn game at probably $60 (maybe more here in Canada)

Il wait for Lost Song.

Wasn't the frame rate for the Vita version really poor? Any news on if that was fixed for this PS4 release?

edit: also heard that the translation was Google translate quality, and that it was not fixed for PS4 version - any truth to this?

The translation is atrocious. Some characters refer to themselves in 3rd person.

I played for around 10hrs but gave up.

Gameplay is also not so good, mostly auto battle. To me anyway, since I didn't get far into the game.

If they put it up for preorder, I'm there. Loved the anime.

edit: yes, I know I talk about preorders alot as of late. I've got a bunch of cash sitting on hand.

I don't get why this isn't getting a physical release when the sequel is. I want to buy this so much, but the lack of a physical release is holding me back. Damn it, BN.

guess the e3 rep that said it wasn't getting another translation didn't know what she was talking about, that's good, I'll pick it up when I get my ps4...eventually

From gematsu:

The following elements can be imported:

Your level (up to 199)
Your money (up to 99,999,999 Col)
Your equipment, possessions, items, etc.
Avatar data
Heroine level and other player levels
Clear flags, downloadable content items, event items, and such cannot be imported. You’ll also have to start the game from the beginning. As previously announced, downloadable content from the PS Vita version will be unlockable in the PlayStation 4 version at a later date.

No mention of extras.

Sounds like a pass then, thanks.

Jesus Christ, you're something.

They are doing a new translation for this release.

And you only scratched the surface of the combat system of you only played 10 hours on auto attack. Not even.

Ah cool!

So as someone who loved the anime, is it safe to assume I'll enjoy this?
Yes. It throws a lot of jabs at the SAO arc story.

Sounds like a pass then, thanks.

If you go by what that uninformed guy says, you're passing on a decent game.

A "new translation" is not what they've said. I wouldn't be overly optimistic that this will ship with a quality translation if they are just revamping the existing atrocity.

I wouldn't say it's safe. The appeal here is the combat, not any of the story or writing. Don't buy it expecting much from those.

Getting screwed? Not really, I put in tons of hours on the Vita version not to mention the hefty updates we got. The translation isn't what sold the game for me, it's the fantastic battle system that got me hooked when I was reading the OT thread. So to me, I got my money's worth especially for such a big game like Hollow Fragment was.

I'm double dipping to show my support and because playing SAO's battle system on a TV screen sounds fantastic. Not to mention the new contents like Online Multiplayer which sold me on it considering I can finally team up with my friends like we wanted when we got the game.

Can't wait to form a party with some of GAF members whose planning to get the PS4 version.

Was turned off from buying this because of the translation on Vita. Hopefully it's actually decent this time around. Nice to see they added a female option :)

is that just for the US or EU too?

I'm wondering that as well. Would be a dick move to have it US only but apart from the panel announcement there hasn't been any news yet. I guess we'll know soon since Re:HF isn't too far off

EDIT: I guess it wouldn't matter too much since you can just make a US account anyway

So in Japan there is a PS4 version of Lost Song which includes

PS4 Game: Sword Art Online Lost Song
DLC Game: Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment (Code Only)

for normal retail price. Not that this necessarily means anything for us but I would be SO IN if we get that here as well.

If that happens here, it would probably be announced just before Lost Song is released here.

Hollow Fragment is a little over a week away so we should get some new details soon.

That is interesting; they are treating Re: Hallow Fragment as a 'extra' game to Lost Song. I guess if JP is getting this, the US/EU versions will get this deal (at least for launch week) to help sell the game :).

Smart move on Bamco for doing this; the price of one game gets you two very long action RPGs XD.

Will I have to have watched the tv series to make sense of this game? Or Will I be fine to just jump in without any knowledge?

Here is a summery I made for Hallow Fragment during a sale thread in the past. It will give you the basic run-down on the story of Hallow Fragment.

"-SAO is a great action JRPG that has hundreds of hours worth of content with some of the Vita's most colorful visuals. The combat system is quite deep and the level systems will lead you investing hours into your characters. Great game that suffers from a bad translation (that can be funny at times) and expectation that you saw the anime prior to playing (up to episode 13-14). Made a catch-up post in the sale thread that I will leave here:

Regarding the story, look at the following:
-Takes place in a VR MMO, but the characters cannot log out due to that feature being locked out by the creator.
-Leads to everyone going into a panic, but coming to the realization that they need to beat the game to be free (which is 100 Floors of dungeons).
-Main character Kirtio was a beta tester for the game before its launch, so he is skilled with its systems
-He meets his harl....I mean, cast of female friends across the anime
-Gets close to a female player named Asuna and they become 'married' in-game.
-Their 'daughter' is a AI program that they encountered in one of the anime's episodes, who they took in as their 'real' kid
-Final battle in the anime was in Floor 75 and in the anime, after the fight with the creator of the game, it ended, with everyone going free
-This game (Hallow Fragment) takes place in an different reality, where the game DOESN'T end, it just goes on and glitches out
-The cast of the anime have to deal with this and continue through the floors until they beat the final boss on Floor 100
-Character introductions are very clouded, so I will explain them here: Sinon was bought to the world due to a glitch during VR therapy. Leafa (Sugu) was brought to the game on her own will; used a friends NerveGear (the things they use to play SAO) and loged in to see her brother/cousin. Strea is a 'new' player in the game world but is a AI program similar to Kirtio's daughter; originally a mental-health montaring program in the game but was brought out with the other players after the 'glitch'. Philla is a player affected by the 'glitch', who after 'killing' another player, is locked in the Hallow Area (the first playable area in the game you see) and you work with her to fine a way out for her
-Everyone knows Kirto is married to Asuna but they don't care because they all want him :l. Hey, the game creators couldn't fix everything from the anime XD.

Debating about whether to get this or not. I have little experience with Sword Art Online, both the anime and the novels, but the games intrigue me. Maybe I'll wait for a sale.

Anything about whether or not the re-translation will be patched into the vita version or am I just hoping for to much?

I have no idea about the Vita version getting a translation patch, but we do know that the PS4 version will accept Vita saves so some stuff (your levels for example) will be carried over to the PS4 version.

Don't expect it, as it would take a lot of work to get the new translation working on Vita (literally changing elements of the games coding I would imagine) but who knows :).

We're kinda getting that, right? Bandai Namco announced that people who pre-order the digital version of PS4 Lost Song will get Re: Hollow Fragment for free.

Yeah but that version has LS on a disc. I guess the drawback is that you'll ony get Re:HF in November while you're getting it immediately when you pre-order digitally.

We should be getting details next week since the LS pre-order is supposed to go up when Re:HF comes out.
