Final Fantasy XV Gamescom Active Time Report - CNN reporting live from disaster scene

I remember when Tetsuya used to say things like "We have the release date in mind".
This shit is Versus XIII all over again, stringing us along with garbage.
Cept this Tabata cut out features so they can actually move on with the game, but it looks like he has NOTHING done. Where is Magic? Air combat? Any examples of giant boss fights?
Today they answered nothing, and Kotaku called Tabata the Savoir ? lol

This is extremely disappointing

Final Fantasy XV (formerly known as Versus XIII) was announced 3,376 days ago.

Timespan between the release of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy VII = 3,332 days.
That....... blows my mind.

I can't believe they're still thinking about making a feedback forum! At some point you have to stop taking feedback so you can stop making changes and concentrate on getting things done!

This new footage of the Marlboro. It's fine, whatever. At least it's something new.

HOWEVER, am I the only one already burnt out on the music that's playing during it? When I first heard that piece of music, I thought it was incredible. Then it was burned into my brain during the Episode Duscae thing, and now they trot it out again for this new footage.

Isn't there any other music they can give us, at least??

Music will be DLC

$.99 each track if you want to buy them individually

They have to make it first

Yoko is busy making music for KH3, she is smart and has her priorities straight.

So this is going to be a 2017 game isn't it? And how much of the E3 2013 trailer is still present in the game? I can't wait to see KH3
and FF7: R
release before this.

I'm done. I'm sorry I just can't take this anymore. I thought after that E3 2013 announcement trailer everything was looking up but it just seems further and further away.

I'll still look forward to the game whenever it eventually releases but as a fan following the events I'm over it.

And this is why the series is in a sorry state.

Todays ATR has completely crushed all my hopes & dreams.

I will now go into a deep slumber till MGSV is out.

with the amount of money and time poured into this project, I'm wondering how much they actually lost.

I'm thinking enough to justify finally starting up development for FF7R, aka "We need to recoup all the money we're going to lose on XV somehow"

Name change and development restart incoming :(

I kid I kid... but to me, a forum means that they are really looking to make alot more changes.

Maybe with enough outrage we can get Square to switch directors again. Bring in Yoshida from the 14 team, he knows how to get shit done and save franchises.

How can this be the start of their official marketing push for the game?? The gameplay footage was okay (it looked near pre-rendered), but seriously what?? As a FFXV fan, this is a blow to the guts.

This stuff got me excited.

Im still a final fantasy xv/ versus xiii fanboy. Super excited for this game.

Honestly, no reason not to be excited. If you are willing to wait, i'm sure it will be good when it comes out. Don't let this horrible showing rain on your parade.

Just... don't expect it to come out soon either :/

Persona 5 was already delayed once. Also it's the situations feel a bit different. Atlus is purposefully holding back info, with FFXV it feels like they can't show it due to the state it's in.
The whole problem of this Gamescom is that they are purposefully holding back information that they do have to share. They clearly have story stuff to show, but the story trailer only teases the smallest tidbits of story They have an ATR where they tease all the information they could give (inc. release date), but don't give us any of it. None of it is because they don't have footage to show (I mean, they could've shown a better played version of the Malboro battle instead of something where the fight ends with a game over in 5 seconds), it's just because it wasn't the time for it in their marketing schedule. The answer would really have been to ignore Gamescom altogether, if they don't want to be forthcoming with information at all but still want to tease.

They also stated that they were continuing work on a new playable demo for people, the same one they announced at TGS.

Reworked ATR summary:

  • We redesigned Regis. No reasons given.
  • Airships? We're behind and still working on it, maybe as DLC.
  • We're nowhere near done. (they didn't say this per se, but it's obvious looking at the state of things)
  • We can't announce a release window, even if we do have one.
  • Important questions about black bars and cosplay.
  • The prologue of the game has changed!
  • Luna is a strong female character even though nothing we've shown supports that.
  • The girl with black hair? We haven't named her yet.
  • Main baddie? Who knows.
  • Stay tuned for PAX when we'll show the same trailer.
  • Feedback forum! Not ready yet.
  • New stuff at TGS and working on a new demo.
  • Malboro fight with a bunch of seconds of gameplay and a brief stroll through some new landscapes.
  • Product placement for german beer.

Airship as dlc strikes me as really weird.
In previous games acquiring an airship was a gamechanger. It allowed you to explore regions you couldn't access before, it opened up the game's world to you, you couldn't finish the game without it.
If it's dlc it will be a complete afterthought with no bearing to the actual storyline and unless they purposefully make certain areas unaccessable it wont change anything besides allowing you to get around faster.

Completely agree. If the airships are post release DLC, they are not important to the game design. Their only purpose would be faster travel to places that could already be reached some other way. Pretty hilarious honestly.

A battle between instant travel and airships, which one will be faster?!?

The convoluted development cycle has me less sure that it will be.

How will Tabata and FFXV regain faith from fanbase and alike after this Gamescom? It seemed like it really is stuck in a giant development limbo and their marketing team including Tabata himself are utterly clueless on how to advertise their game.

People who were sincerely looking forward to this game for nearly a decade need some reassurance, and so far it's no where to be found. Everything is just talk and more wishy washy statement, and game footage looked extremely early in development and dull.

Is Tabata really THAT incompetent? I genuinely enjoyed Crisis Core for all its issues. Type-0, not so much. Seem like a crazy wild card to begin with. Why not get somebody like Ito to direct a mainline FF? What's even the point of being a fan of the series if things are looking bleak.

Yeesh, that's nutso, and makes me feel a little old to boot.

At this rate FFXVI (Exclusively on NX Portable!) may be released before FFXV.
