You know how in MGS2 Raiden was supposed to represent the player?

Well if these theories hold true then I think WE the player represent "Venom Snake" We've been loyal to Big Boss since MGS 3. We even sympathize with his character.

So we the player think we are playing as Big Boss only to have those thoughts betrayed only to be used by the very "hero" we've built up in our heads.
I say that because if I'm playing the game as Big Boss. It's easy for me to sympathize with the character. Kojima wants us to HATE Big Boss after this game. It's hard to hate a man if you're in direct control of everything especially when they give you reasons to be sympathetic towards his character.

Now imagine Big Boss using his most trust man. Whether that's The Player, The Medic or whoever. Implants false memories. (Kojima sold us GZ giving us what we believe to be accurate events.), and uses this person to build a military base and army to lure his two enemies out. Cipher and Skullface.

Only for it to be revealed that we aren't Big Boss and he in turn kills us and uses what we did to establish Outer Heaven.

We would view him as nothing more than a monster. Just like Kaz did in MG2
Man, you guys have done the impossible. You've somehow made the initially dumb "Big Boss double" theory sound legitimately cool and relevant. Well done.

I think there's a lot of weight in this theory.

If you examine the shot closely, Ocelot has a very serious, almost apologetic expression on his face. Kaz is turning away from the camera back towards Venom - he has just looked at whoever is approaching. Finally, Venom turns around with this expression of innocence and utter confusion (watch it in motion to see what I mean).

Goddammit, this is heartbreaking. Big Boss, you absolute monster.

I honestly just took this scene as Ocelot possibly revealing to Snake that Kaz was the "Other" spy in Peace Walker

So, is the reason they got Jack Bauer to voice BB is because that's not really him?

Or that's just a coincidence, providing that the player will be controlling a clone.

Man, if Hayters voice appears somewhere you know shit is going down and that Kojima didn't play us all like a fiddle, but a whole orchestra.

I think it's all about actual acting through motion capture rather than sitting in a booth reading lines.

The reddit poster claims we Solid twice. Once in the very end with Cipher, and once again in a very super secret situation.

So spoilers are allowed here? Are there any legit spoilers? If so please give me details. Cant be bothered to read through the whole thread.

Kiefer still sat in a booth reading lines, they're just capturing his face movements and blending it with the body mocap of a separate actor.. So far I think the only person who's confirmed to have done both is the actress for Quiet.

For me personally it's kinda obvious.

This... actually makes a lot of sense and seems like the kind of meta angle Kojima would go for.

Yeah. Facial capture. Basically what I said, but I assumed he did mo cap as well.

You know all those theories about you not actually playing Big Boss, but an imposter? Looks like it's actually true. The exact details are still somewhat in the air, but it's probably GZ's medic. (The one seemingly voiced by Kiefer.)

OMG...

Who is Chico?

Here's another spoiler: MGSV is a sequel to Peace Walker.

I think the medic laying down with blood in the e3 2015 symbolizes that the old medic is dead and is reborn through Big Boss.

I wish they would motion capture western actors. Japanese actors move sooo strangely.

I don't think it's necessarily them being japanese. I know EXACTLY what you mean.

Motion capture was designed to capture realistic motion.

When the actors don't move realistically and over exaggerate everything it defeats the purpose.

A few days ago when it became pretty clear that we won't be playing as Big Boss for the majority of the game, I was really pissed off.

Fast forward to now, and I may actually be disappointed if things don't pan out as we've predicted. It's amazing.

I wish he did, I wish all the actors, (well most anyway, Tara Strong is probably taller than ), were able to do so. You can get way better performance in the scenes that way. Apparently Kojima even went through the trouble of casting western actors for the body mocap as well.

im gonna watch PW on youtube. i own it but dont really care to play it. Metal Gear just tires me out in a bad way now. And i havent heard good things about its boss fights.

It would be pretty cool if you dont play BB or theres a character switch that occurs like MGS2 but unfortunately that Kojima has long since gone. i expect standard deliver like MGS3 and MGS4. i wouldnt at all be surprised if Koj just retcons Metal Gear and BB is still the good guy by the end of PP.

Right, if you're going to hire Kiefer, hire him for Mo Cap. He had the experience to capture action performances.

Same here. It's amazing how genius Kojima can be.

Wow! I just went to start watching PW on YouTube for a last minute refresher course, and had to back out due to Hayter's terrible performance.

The transition is complete!

but seriously where is Chico? It's probably gonna be revealed in some tape BB sent him away for good after what happened.

Yeah I think hes just gone or he died on the Heli. He can't be anyone in the 'newer' MGS games either unless I'm mistaken.

Still, the headphone jack, wtf was that anyway. There is also some dead dude in the trailer that has stuff put under his skin. And ofcourse Paz. Skull Face is some sick fuck.

ahem, you guys think the sixaxis motion features will make a return?
Am i a terrible person if the only reason i might purchase PP is to sixaxis shake Quite?
:p

From watching some of these videos I really want them to be true. Ha ha. I don't think a game would have so much of a twist like that before. Though a lot of the "proof" is just... not great ha ha. Like the zooming. Could just be there for gameplay reasons. Cigar light looking like gray fox at a certain angle. Head "twitch"...
Only weird thing which may be actually true, but it seems too risky to put in there...is the shadow not matching snakes shape. Espicially the head. I noticed this in ground zeroes too, but I noticed other people's shadows did match their shape and head. I thought it was just a bug, but it would be weird attention was put in for other shadows and not snake, the main character. It seems too risky though, people already noticed it and it hasn't been "fixed" and if it was in the PS4 version (can't remember), why wasn't it fixed in the PC version?
Not really gonna have a solid theory on who snake is though, but I do suspect something foul play...ha ha

Bald Snake theory fell apart for me once I saw Raiden's hair is messed up in the shadow during Jamais vu.
Everyone elses shadows rendered fine.

I gotta say ... i would feel a little burned (again) being told I wasn't actually playing as big boss for this bad boy. Mostly because the whole 'Worlds most legendary and capable/deadly soldier" skill level can apparently be reached by any Joe Schmoe medic with half a dinner plate stuck in his face.

Still... if they craft it right... having BB murder my whole MB army after 20 or 30 or however many hours of work would probably make me get in the mood to murder the old man. Certainly fits the cunning villain angle.

But cmon man... "actually you weren't playing as BB at all the whole time! HAH! Gotcha."

Have more faith than none at all.

Decoy Octopus became a successful actor and SFX artist after moving to Hollywood. He was later recruited by the CIA for his exceptional skills in mimicry, where he was assigned to impersonate government VIPs on top secret missions, and requested that the military to give him a full mental deprogramming after missions to avoid becoming mentally confused about his identity. He eventually left the CIA to join the FOXHOUND unit.

Octopus was fluent in a dozen languages. At least some of these languages were French, German, Spanish, and Ebonics. At some point, he had his hairline, cheekbones, jaw, and nasal bones shaved down, and cut off his ears to make disguising himself easier, and had computerized implants which allowed for him to change his voice.
I mean regardless, we might just be playing as Decoy Octopus.

Well, three of them ended in a hospital, one lost an arm and a leg, another was in coma for 9 years and we don't know nothing about the medic but "What about him?". He probably died, and I hope so, I never liked him.
I assumed that Kaz lost his arm and leg from torture.

I'd almost prefer that. Showing Big Boss turn evil by fucking over the player would be interesting.

So what if Big Boss died in Ground Zeroes? Zero, as with Liquid/Solid/Solidus - made a new adult Snake? With the basic memories and ideas i.e. Ground Zeroes is his memories and Keither is the voice of another Snake.

The whole 'we're seeing events through the real Bosses eyes!' stuff strikes me as unbelievable and just not practical - it does however work as a fourth wall. We are seeing a story told to a Snake towards the end of the game. This would help explain the 'hallucination' 'memories'.

Could he be Solidus?

He could be, it all depends on how his aging process works, because he was born into the patriots after Solid and Liquid, to a different mother, so he is essentially younger than they are but if his aging is that rapid, he could "look" old enough, it's hard to say.
And he was off in the Liberian war in the 80s training the "small boy" unit.

That would be pretty messed up since you know MGS2 exists and Solidus has no scar or anything.

2:13. There's some one over Kaz's shoulder. The point of eye has faded edges. Like someone looking with one eye.

You know, something I noticed after this, at around 2:30, where "BB" was carrying the wounded Quiet. She's not only bloody, but seemingly "steaming/smoking." Can't quite tell if its raining at MB. But maybe a bit more into what sort of power/weakness she has.
