About getting Quiet, I heard the early conversation between
the guards about the invisible woman at the power plant. I went to the power plant, and Quiet is a no show. Can I actually get her before I get her?

I don't think shooting them does anything, but I think blowing them up can make it so that the post you're at can't call for backup.

Shooting the radio comms will destroy them after a few shots, but you have to clear a bit of space otherwise the enemy will hear the bullets deflecting despite having a silencer.

The game is amazing.

What I fear is the grind I can see start happening as GMP becomes more tight.

It's pretty obvious they adjusted some single player calculations re: GMP just so more people would do FOBs. I have not unlocked those yet though. Just unlocked D-Walker.

I'm wondering. What is Heroism points for?

Also, I almost can't hear a difference between Miller and Big Boss' voices in the tapes. Or is it Ocelot? It's starting to annoy me, but I guess I'll find out sooner or later.

I am GMP capped without doing FOBs

k, what exactly is Direct Contact? on the staff management

Its to keep good soldiers from being automatically replaced or to keep you from firing them. You can toggle it.

No. Absolutely not.

I play Metal Gear for the story, the twists, the bosses, the characters, the backgrounds, exposition and details. I play it first and foremost for the cutscenes, and then gameplay. Metal Gear Solid 2 did it best, while Snake Eater had a great balance and pace.

I'm with you on MGS2 being amazing, but you can't approach MGSV the same. It even has 'Tactical Espionage Operations' instead of Tactical Espionage Action. You need to listen to the tapes between missions and help pad out the story yourself. It's not ideal, but MGSV does indeed have an ok amount of story.

Having trouble with episode 12 (I think it's 12) where I need to
extract Emmerich. He's hold up in some kind of air hanger bunker. The side door on the left is red and won't let me in and the right side just has windows where I'm able to see him work. How do I get in?

I went into mission 4
the one to blow up radar
and because I had
destroyed it in a side ops mission before it
it just finished the mission, and kaz and ocelot commented on it and just said good job. I didnt get a rank for it. Lol that was a 25 second mission

Try the other side

I know I can't approach it the same way I did MGS1-4 but it still sucks to me, that I don't get a lot of cutscenes and story presented this way.
That said, I do love the tapes when Miller don't interrupt them. Though most of them haven't been that interesting yet.

is there a way to see which cassette tapes you've listened to?

Additionally, is there way to control the walkman without using the iDroid?

Tapes with a dot next to them have NOT been listened to yet.

No you have to use the iDroid. One of the iDroid upgrades may let you listen to them during gameplay.

The end of the prologue in a nutshell (probably not even a spoiler since it's a "you had to be there" joke but I'll spoiler tag it anyway):

I think they have little marks next to them that disappear when you listen to them.

I wish! This and more mother base interaction (saluting soldiers, petting d-dog) are my two wishes so far. Especially since I'm playing on a PC and have far more keys at my disposal. Easy pausing/playing/skipping of tapes would be absurdly useful.

I'm interested in that as well. I went to where it is supposed to happen but nothing was there.

Why do they show the credits after every scene? Jesus. Here we were worried Kojima's name wasn't on the box, and the dude has it after every single mission?

They weren't kidding when they said his name would be everywhere.

So, with the daily login thing. How are we meant to do said login when the servers are down? :P
Servers are up though?
I were logged in today and got my reward, though the iDroid gets so much slower, that I went back into offline mode.

Went into the first big infiltration mission with the gunship overhead, luckily I got a sandstorm and just rode in with my horse Gandalf style.

Funny there seem to be two camps in terms of how a Metal Gear game should be.
Camp A wants the crazy story and twists that Kojima loves.
Camp B wants the stealth gameplay that the series was known for.
Maybe it comes down to when you got hooked? I don't know. For me, I played Metal Gear on NES when it came out. It was so different than anything else at the time. The sneakiness, trying to avoid the enemy as opposed to killing them head on. When MGS1 came out I was in heaven. It was like an updated version of the old game. Sure it had some weirdness, but it wasn't what it became over time. When MGS2 came out, I enjoyed it, but not as much. Took me a while to beat it, probably over a year. Played MGS3 and gave up, didn't play it again til the HD collection came out. I feel like this is a step back to those older games with focus on the stealthy aspects which is why I am loving it more than any of 2-4 and PW.

Even though soldier names are randomly generated, a black soldier named Black Monkey is still the most wtf moment so far

Bastard Goat is an awesome name though

I was on my way to a side op in the ACC when Ocelot started saying something about a deadly sniper in the area and to watch myself.

Anyway - I started towards where I was supposed to go and suddenly boom - Quiet sniper fight.

I'm only on Mission 8 but have been doing every side op possible - I think how you find her is based on how high your Intel is (I have an Intel strut in my MB already).

I'm 12 hours into this and holy fuck this is blowing me away.

Can't. Stop. Playing.

Also, the checkpoints suck.
I had to do mission 3 last night, and it frustrated me to no end, that I had to start at the mountain with my horse every time. Finally beat it this morning though.

Maybe that's my problem. I've only done one mission after the Kaz mission -- but lots of side ops. I don't even have intel yet! Just R&D and support.

Maybe a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway....

Just finished episode one, but it said I only did 2 of 6 objectives but the other four were ???????, why is this? Did I miss loads?

From what I've been told you can't. That's only in PC I think.
Fuck really?! Man that's a damn shame. PS4 you played me like a damn fiddle!

I wish sony had a better option for songs to play over games just as easy as it was for ps3 without applications. Just built in to the xmb

Question: Development Related -
I remember seeing an option to have Snake wear the bandana, making him look more like Naked Snake/Solid Snake. When does that become available? I thought the Solid Snake outfit from GZ would do it, but it makes me look like PS1 Snake.
