Accidentally did the episode 11 early and after
there was a scene in the med bay with Paz alive that had no set up before Big Boss walked in the room.
Usually MGS games will have some kind of acknowledgement of events like that so I feel like I missed a scene before it.

He has plenty of dialogue in the cassettes, but for me the problem is that he doesn't look, sound or act anything like the Ocelot of the previous games. They don't even acknowledge that him and Big Boss actually know eachother outside of one throwaway line in a cassette.
To be fair he does that dumb wrist flick animation all the time he did in the previous games. Heh.

There are quite a few "story missions with Quiet" so I would maybe tag this as a late scene. I clicked it thinking it would be early game and it wasn't. :P

Brilliant OT.

I've only played MGS1, 4 and GZ and was wondering if there was a good story wrap up video that anyone knew of. There are quite a few on YouTube but wanted to know if there was a consensus to the best one.

Picking this up today after work but am keen to do some watching (or reading if there is a particularly good wiki article for example) beforehand to make sure I'm in the best mindset.

Can someone help me, i dont play ground zeroes for a long time, but i was pretty sure that when you were detected and the reflex mode kicked in, if you pressed l2 it would automaticly aim at your enemy, but in phantom pain that doesnt happen, do i have to activate any option?

Lol I was screwin around on mother base and accidentally tranqed ocelot in the head

he just says "uh.h.uhh....la li lu le lo....la li lu le lo.."
Where do you usually find him?
Can you even find most of the main characters in mother base? Like Kaz, DD, Eli

Only ones I've bumped into are Quiet, Huey and that one person in med platform.

That sucks. I think changing the voice actors had more of an impact than I thought it would. I didn't play Peace Walker or MGS4 so going from MGS3 to this is pretty different. I enjoy the gameplay a lot but I really miss the cutscenes and characters. MGS3 was so engaging for me. To be fair, I haven't gotten very far at all.

search for the 12 minute recap on Gametrailers

you also have full "movies" of the games by some users on youtube, each can be like 4 hours long

honestly id just say watch the 12 minutes and maybe reread on a couple key characters as you go or something

game isnt story heavy at all. you'll only maybe get lost by listening to some of the audio tapes when they reference older stuff

youre fine just playing the game and having a base idea, IMO, but people's opinion on this seem to vary. meh.

here;

- cipher is bad. where is zero
- big boss wants cool army of soldiers of fortune types for hire
- builds a mother base. mother base gets fucked up by Skullface new mysterious villain
- enters 9 year coma during destruction
- MGSV starts omg new motherbase
- kaz is your bud. ocelot was bad. ocelot is now gud

lots of old people seem to be dead so; kinda it

Was really looking forward to hearing Kiefer say "you're fired" like Hayter does when you discharge a soldier from Diamond Dogs. Sadly he says nothing :^(

This....is a joke....right?

I've learned to never underestimate what a cardboard box can do so...

Every main platform has a "postal service". Stand on it, equip the box and you can select where you want to fast-travel to. Diamond Dogs postal services will take care of the rest.

The gameplay here is amazing!! Seriously probably one of the best ever. It's just to bad big boss is a mute and the story is mostly told via tapes. Serious what the heck.

Still love this game so far.

Yeah, I'm absolutely loving the game, but as a long term fan there's something a bit disappointing about having the three main characters be Big Boss, Ocelot and Kaz, and only Kaz actually sounding and acting like he does in the other games.

I'm 16 hours in and Ocelot hasn't even span a revolver once. :(

Question regarding missions 1 and 6.
Would the skull unit attack me again at the end of mission 6 if I had killed them at the end of mission 1?
Or are they undead as in can't be killed?

Some times he's there some times he isn't, he usually chills by the command center helipad.

I think this game is too huge for the likes of me. Every mission takes me upwards of an hour, cuz I can't help but interrogate nearly everyone in my path. I guess I'm gonna have to put a stop to that. :P

BTW, there's no downside to killing people outside of a main mission is there.

One of the biggest disaapointment along with the failed delivery of "You're pretty good"

Doing my first real mission. Get spotted. Things get really hairy. On the verge of dying. In comes a mother fucking sand storm to save my ass!!! Thank you based Mother Nature. 10/10, would Fulton if could.

Started playing...so far this game is living up to the hype. Actually watching the peace walker scenes to catch up on the lore. Wow im so glad David Hayter isn't snake, he's horrible lol

Nope. I treat main missions seriously and all stealthy like. Side Ops though I'll just bowl in with my grenade launcher and have me some fun penalty-free.

He will at a certain point. Briefly, and it looks clunky as hell.

This Ocelot is NOT the Ocelot I came to know and love in previous MGS games. He's pretty much Ocelot in name only, unfortunately.

Absolutely loving the game. GOAT tier for now.
People wanted fanservice, wich the game lacks compared to others in the series, that actually makes it even more fresh and enjoyable. Ocelot is Ocelot and Boss is Boss, 9 years passed, people change, I mean you know what's going to happen years after this game ends, right?

Question about using Quiet.

When I first got the ability to use her, the hint explained how I could designate different points for her to be at or whatever.. But then when I actually play as her, I can't really interact with her at all, that I can tell, other than telling her to kill someone - Which always seems to alert the base, even if the person is isolated when she caps them. What am I missing?

You have to give her commands via 'Buddy Support' menu to either scout a camp or find a sniping spot to attack

I would recommend watching KefkaProductions videos on youtube. He has made 3-5 hour long videos for each game that include all cutscenes along with all important codec calls and gameplay segments.

There's also Konami's official summary of the events leading up to TPP, which is a pretty good read.

I've seen a lot of story wrap ups on various Youtube channels and they were all rushed and left out important information

lol, was in the chopper, equipped the mini gun and for shits and giggles decided to shot at the d-horse, it died. great start to a mission.

can you shot the dog? when I found him I wanted to shoot him, but wasn't sure whether this is my only chance at acquiring him, so I picked him up instead.

I'm about 15 hrs in. Just captured
Quiet
. This isn't the first time I've ran into this person. Accidentally found
her
when doing a side mission for a blueprint but left because I didn't want to spoil something ahead of time.

Game is amazing.

Ohh yes, some MB tips I've collected from you guys and tons of play time.

- You can flip mortars and gun placements for some quick GMP. I forgot the going rate but it's pretty damn high.

- Any location you return to eventually has the materials restocked. This is important early game because that's when the grind is the worst, at least it was for me.

- Once you can send people out on missions, check what they bring back. Tired of picking up plants all day? Don't worry, your guys can do it for you!

- R3 allows you to auto assign guards if you are like me and don't give a shit about looking at stats.

- Look out for trouble makers. They might fuck with your best dudes and get them sick, or worse.

- While TPP is a big ol' playground, it's kind of also about conserving your materials and GMP whenever you can at the same time. It's still possible to have fun and juggle between doing wacky shit like driving C4 straight into an enemy base, so long as you know what you need to spend on and what you want in advance. Luckily, the game gives you tons of tools that are usually costless, coupled with Snake's abilities, you shouldn't be spending too much per mission.

- That being said, this game has a lot of wiggle room. Just overdrafts your account until you can pay it off, much like Chase Bank.

- Check the stats of who you fulton. It might get to the point that some aren't worth it.

Wow, rain washes away the blood on you.

So does switching clothes.

Quick question that might be obvious-- can I do multiple side ops at once? Instead of going back to my helicopter, can I just hop on my horse and head to the next closest side op, or will it tell me I'm leaving the mission area or something?

I haven't really done more than the first few side ops, and I'm looking at my map now and while it allows me to click on a different side op after completing the first I set out on, it's fairly far away and I'd hate to lose progress or something.

Apologies if this is really painfully apparent.

Have a few questions:

How do I stop fights breaking out?

Tried putting diplomats on the team and two troublemakers together

Do the diplomats need to outnumber them?

Also, how do I get my soldiers to get materials for me? They say "Need materials? Just ask!" on MB

And finally...

When should I return to med bay for the miss-able cutscene?

I've heard soldiers talking about her. haha they actually give a location they saw her. I have not pursued any hints just yet.
