I am pretty sure I had everything configured yes, I took the time to turn off all the uneeded noise reduction settings, made sure it was in game mode, etc. I even calibrated my uncles tv using the disney wow disc. He only intends to use the tv for movies but the nerd in me wanted to see what it was about as far as gaming goes. Some people may not see what I see or notice what I notice also different tvs of the same sku can have different results. My main advice would be just to continue researching and test things out for yourself and while you are spending big money always buy the warranties just incase you aren't satisfied. I have no problem returning or swapping out a tv if I feel like it doesn't meet my standards. I am not interested in 4K at the moment but im sure when I do decide to jump in there will be a panel lottery regardless of the brand I select I just hope I can find the right one for me. Some people don't mind or notice DSE, input lag, banding, and overall picture quality as much as others. Are you sure you had everything configured correctly with settings optimized for gaming? It's just odd because there have been numerous comments on here praising the upscaler and overall IQ of this tv, specifically in relation to console gaming.
I am pretty much dead set on getting either the Vizio M55 or M60. Would you still recommend this tv? My intended usage is primarily PS4 gaming.
So are you getting 22ms lag using game on your 'F9000' then? Sorry only just saw your reply above.. That's great, I'm ordering one tomorrow, the upgrade thing has swung me.
I'm in the same boat. My EC9300 blew me away with the picture, but 40ms with PC and Expert 1 was floaty. I don't like to say I can play this and this on my tv but not this... If you know what I mean. I want to pop something in and go for it. Halo 5 online was pretty difficult to play with 40+ms input lag.
So I'm going for the Samsung JS9000. I know it's not as good picture wise, but I can game, 4K, HDR, and upgrade the processor next year if I want to.
Apparently the EF9500 is around 60 ms in game mode, so slightly worse than that. And yeah, Halo (and even Black Ops 3) is rough going with that lack of precision.
I'm thinking the Samsung 9500 for me at this point. Which, let's be honest, I'm sure is still a damn fine TV.
I keep looking back at that EF9500, but 60ms is wayyyy too much. Yea, the Samsung 9000 and 9500 both look great. I was pretty blown away by the 9000 in Best Buy's Magnolia room. Obviously having your eyes jumping back and forth to the OLED reminds you which is better, but the 9000 really wowed. I am worried about all the sets that have had blacklight bleeding. I don't really want to spend the extra $1000 for the 9500, but I may.
I doubt these will see much of a discount on Black Friday, but I'm hoping we get some Veteran's Day deals on wednesday.
According to http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-l...-3500u-za-evolution-kit-349.html#post37948721, it's supposed to work, but I just tested with my Leo Bodnar input lag instrument and I could only get 83ms, which is disappointing to say the least.
I'm mostly drawn to the JS9500 because you can use the active dimming while in game mode. It'll help me accept that I no longer have an OLED. Yeah, I'm wondering about Black Friday myself. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but high end televisions don't usually get huge cuts. It's the low end stuff that gets slashed in hopes of bringing people into the store.
Either way though, I feel like we're close enough to BF that you can get a price match anywhere you buy, if you get it anytime soon.
Couple things, if looking at vizio m-series keep in mind the native refresh rate is 60hz until you get to 60" or larger.
The Samsung js9000 like the 8500 has some horrific edge light bleeding, and the js9500 gets some bad bloom/haloing. You're going to compromise either way.
Yea as far as black friday goes, it's usually the cheap TVs that get the hard discount. Now that all these manufacturers control the prices, I doubt we are going to see much of anything. I know somebody that knows somebodythat's seen the LG price plan and the only OLED tv they are marking down is is the 9100, which is going to mAtch the price of the 9300 it's replacing at 1799.
I did talk to Amazon about the price matching because I have a large gift card with them. They will match their own sale prices for 7 days after purchase, and a competitor for 30 days. They said that it has to be a deal that they can order themselves or it's not gonna happen. No door busters, first 100 or anything like that. For anyone that's ordered from them, how easy is it to get them to send you a new one if the TV has issues? Do they give you a hard time about it?
I'm still holding out hope that someone does a Veterans discount on Veteran's day.
Unfortunately compromise is the name of the game with TVs, which sucks when you're paying what we are paying. With the 9000/8500 it's all about the panel lottery. I've seen about half get perfect no bleed panels, and half get panels that are destroyed. Not sure about the 9500, although the one I saw at BB in their dark room looked pretty good.
Is Sony or Vizio better than Samsung about putting consistently good quality panels in their TVs?
I think some would argue for Sony at times, probably not Vizio tho. It's really hard to tell because you have to look at how many are sold vs how many are actually complaining, yada yada. Then you've got to look at how many regular people even notice what the enthusiasts are returning TVs for. I'm convinced that Amazon takes those returns with DSE/uniformity issues and sells them as Warehouse Deals knowing that most people aren't going to care/notice it. I would say it's all pretty close to the same tho. It's the sad nature of TVs.
I think the Vizios are great for the money, but they aren't pricing their tvs cheap for goodwill. They may be putting great panels in there, but the build quality does elicit much confidence. My remote is destroyed after 4 months. Losing buttons daily.
I would recommend focusing more on what retailer is going to take care of you if you get a set you can't live with. You may spend a little more at BB, but you can wheel that bad boy in there over and over until you get one you are cool with. Also, avoid those tests that look for issues. If you don't notice problems while gaming, tv, and movies then you're good. If you go looking, you'll find issues.
Thanks! So Ill buy the set that I want whether it's Sony or Samsung or Vizio someplace where I can easily return it if I want to do so.
EDIT if I bought the Vizio I would be using my universal remote and it would be because (1) my more expensive Panasonic plasma died after three years so I'm gunshy on investing in a really expensive set that might not last and (2) I want to wait it out until better 4K TVs are available and more 4K content is broadcast.

There's a lot of information in here that represents my thought process with respect to purchasing a new TV. At present I own a Samsung LN40C530, which definitely exhibits vertical banding and motion blurring. But you know what? Spotting either of these is incredibly rare. In other words, you really have to be looking for them. Motion blurring, for instance, is only aggravated if you are violently moving the camera in a video game from left to right with sensitivity settings on high. So yes, there will always be issues if you try to find them. Generally I am the kind of person who obsesses over small details like this but in the coming weeks I don't want to be that person because that just means hassle, less time playing my games, and generally being without a TV for periods at a time. Some battles are worth fighting, others are not. It all depends on the severity of the issue and one's disposition in living with said issues. Because my TV is nearly 6 years old, I feel like whatever I get next will be a noticeably improvement.
My preference in upgrading is to keep things incredibly simple so as to facilitate a new TV's intended purpose: viewing content. As I stated above, I want to spend time playing and enjoying my games, not obsessing and exchanging TVs. So with the Vizio M series being an affordable popular option with impressive IQ it sort of seems like a no-brainer, especially in consideration of any Black Friday deals.
Why is the Vizio M not on this list?
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-usage/video-gaming/best
Too new? Not as good?
Edit: NVM I didn't see it when I looked.
Edit2: But why buy the Vizio M 55 for $920 when I can buy the Sony x810c 55 for $1000?
Vizio M55 is $849 at Walmart. What advantages does the Sony x810c 55 offer? Better build quality and brand name? I could have sworn I read threads discussing the Vizio M series as superior in certain areas over the Sony x810c but that may have been mostly subjective.
Oh yeah how much should I be willing to spend in order to have my TV mounted with all wiring properly concealed? Geek Squad at Best Buy charges $150 for mounting only. I found a company that will do everything for $200, which includes the price of a power kit as well (if needed). How much should I be willing to spend for a good TV mount, as these range anywhere from $30 - $100 and upwards. Is Craigslist worth checking? I could probably mount my TV myself but honestly I don't want to learn on my walls and risk messing something up.

At that size I'd recommend the Sony. 60" and up the Vizio is a much better value with a true 120hz panel, better uniformity, more precise local dimming (same number of zones but superior algorithm).
Btw, only put stock on RTINGS reviews if you happen to agree with their philosophy. My number one priority is always PQ, with input lag second, so I tend to agree with David Katzmaier of CNET, Robert Wiley of LCD buying guide, among others. When RTINGS recommends disabling local dimming on some TVs that are designed around/dependent on such feature, I know I have to look elsewhere for opinions. They're great for side-by-side comparisons of hard facts such as input lag, number of HDMI inputs, etc., though.![]()

I have the 9600. The gaming is actually ok after a few tweaks, and putting it in Game Mode is a must. Cinema, etc are just too slow.
That said, it's a great looking TV. I have the 65 VT in the loft still, and while it's still a great set, I can recognize it was time to move on--true 4k content looks stunning.
That said, I might get the 9500 just to have the HDR, but the gaming lag might not be tolerable.
Yea, I don't think it'd be bad in certain games, but I play a lot of Halo and BF4 and you can definitely notice the lag. I'll definitely miss it the OLED though.
I'll be picking up the JS9000 tomorrow. Just a heads up, they are throwing in an additional 32" TV and 1 TB hdd with JS9000 or JS9500 purchase at BB.

Yea, I got a free 49' LG when I bought this one. Didn't even know there was a promotion.
I'm playing BO4 now, and it's fine. I'll probably have it calibrated soon.
Im looking to buy a Vizio M 55 or 60. Any great deals coming for em on black friday or around that time? I really want to upgrade.
LG EC9300
I made another video of the weird issue.

That's how the nighttime always looks in GTA V for me, but also Witcher 3. I haven't been able to fix it at all. The nights really shouldn't look like that. Is there any way to get rid of that weird effect? Is that indeed colour banding?

Ok cool I knew there were some perks with the Vizio over Sony. But if I'm just using my TV for console gaming does 120hz even matter? I thought 60hz is equivalent to 60fps and since no PS4 game will ever exceed 60fps, what benefit does 120hz offer? My current Samsung LCD is 60hz which seems fine
900 for the 60? Daaamn! That sounds pretty darn good.yes on the vizios> I think the 60" is already leaked at $900. Just search Black Friday on Google. They'll all probably get a good reduction.
That is bloody ridiculous!
Did you try this?
Hey gamers, to reduce Lag when connected to a PC capabe of 4k 4:4:4 at 60hz, rename the input to "Game" and then go into Menu >> System >> General >> Game Mode and turn it "On". Next change your settings as follows: Dynamic Contrast = Off Smart LED = Off Cinema Black = Off With the above settings lag is reduced from a normal of ~90ms versus ~59ms in PC Mode to an astounding low of around 23ms or less.
So which of these Stores is best to buy my TV now to get a holiday price match refund in a few weeks? Best buy or Walmart?

Yes, I tried that. The Bodnar outputs its own signal that is then measured on the screen by the sensor in the instrument, so it's testing the 1080p signal it emits. I'm curious how it measured 23ms at 4k when the signal is only output at 1080p. Using a camera is wildly inaccurate.
