Transformers Devastation is a strange one, I've seen it average at having 8,000 owners, but the game was offered on Amazon.de and sister sites for EUR 20 (Retail that comes with a steam code), so we'll see if the owners exceed 10,000 in the next few months

Fallout 4 seems will be a surprise package interms of sales.

It charted in top 10 of German charts one week before its release :lol (PS4 and PC version)

Trails in the Sky Sales are kinda sad to see, but I think XSeed didnt really do them any favor releasing that game in that timeframe.

Tales of shortly before, Nep Nep 3 shortly after and somehow the game just came out of "nowhere" after all those delays...

Is that good for Trails? I havent finished the first one so I havent picked it up yet.
It's pretty bad compared to the first. It's also less than Mugen Souls which is just sad given the relative quality of the games.

On the other hand, Zestiria did even better than I expected (and I expected quite a bit).
You have to remember that all those 90k sales are at full price. I think that's already a fantastic result for the first Tales on Steam.

Mushihimesama isn't quite as amazing, but still a good result I'd say. It just came out and is getting good support. It's also one of the best games in its genre, so if you have any interest at all in shmups do buy it.

Neptunia is expected I think, the games are quite similar to each other (as well as to the also released Fairy Fencer F) and they hit at a rather rapid pace. Not outstanding but certainly easily worth it for IF (given their games sales for their original releases).

The only thing Trails needed was a launch discount to convince people on the fence. That was the only big mistake. Without that people will just wait for the first discount.

The date or the unexpected launch don't matter. It's an expensive game and a sequel to a long JRPG. It was never going to top the charts. It also released on three "platforms".

Please dont jump to conclusions about the future of the series.

Isn't it? I can't imagine LTD sales for x360 ports being much higher than 1st week sales on Steam...

How many of those are influenced by getting Symphonia free for those who preordered though? I wonder how Symphonia will sell?

I'm glad it did sell well regardless. Hopefully all Tales games come to PC from now on.

Apparently ToZ debuted in Japan with over 300,000 units sold on PS3

60€ was clearly a mistake.

I gladly got it for EUR 60 :P
We have GAFfers here who even pre-order AssCreed Syndicate day 1 on Steam, how much do you think THAT cost ;)

Most Japanese pub are considering Steam as a replacement for "Xbox" (last gen) as a second platform

Now with NX coming next year, it will be interesting to see

Those Anno numbers hurt :/. On the flip side though I'm really happy about Vermintide.

Now the next game that I really want to sell well will be Xcom 2.

Those Anno numbers hurt :/. On the flip side though I'm really happy about Vermintide.

If we don't have UPlay numbers it could easily be around ~100k. If TW3 and GTAV are any indication, purchases from the various CD key sites like GMG/Amazon etc plus retail usually bring in slightly more sales than purchases directly through Steam.

Trails is looking pretty low, but I honestly did not expect a ton better from it either. I'd say it's a shame, but I didn't buy myself either.

Is that good for Zestiria?
If you had asked me to slap a number on it last year, I expected it would do around 40k~50k copies at full price. Zestiria did not have the warmest reception by the Japanese players, and I assumed this would be apparent in its western launch too. I don't know how much they expected, but I think they can be pleased with this result. Steam is also a place where discounts and sales also more easily breathe new life in titles.

The port quality of the game is pretty decent too, and the even the pre-order campaign seemed like it was as reasonable success. I wouldn't be surprised in Namco keeps this train going.

Is that good for Zestiria?
Xillia's full first month in NPD (it released very early in the ninth) was 100K so this is pretty comparable to what Xillia did in 30 days at full price in the US, given PS3 was the only platform for that game.

Now, this is worldwide, but I'm not under the impression that Europe does much more than half the series' Western sales.

If Zestiria (PS3/PS4) had a similar retail performance as Xillia there's potential they had significant overall growth sales percentage wise. Worst case they moved sales to a high margin platform.

Great showing for Zestiria. Hopefully this will bode well for the future of the franchise on the platform.

Zestiria did pretty good and will make a KILLING at the first ~30% off. It's still selling, too.

SC is a hard sell. Sequel to a really long JRPG that's not THAT popular to begin with. Also, no exposure at all (youtubers, marketing, etc). Launched with fucked up prices in some regions too. (Here in Brasil, for example)

Undertale is still doing amazingly well:

http://steamspy.com/search.php?s=Undertale

More than 300k copies sold.

Two games that also surprised me:

Kingdom:

http://steamspy.com/app/368230

Downwell:

http://steamspy.com/app/360740

Thing is, PC sells much more than the 360 sold. It's profit margins are higher, too, thanks to digital sales. Aaaaaand, we have sales that do really well for these japanese titles. (Dark Souls, Xenoverse, etc). Even with NX i don't see the pubs dropping PC support.

Damn Trails SC is dead in the water on PC. Hopefully the PSP/Vita side of the equation if picking up PC's slacking off since they know not to wait for a 70% off sale.

Depends.

Some games do perform better in the european charts as well as the asia.

What constitutes being mega popular among those with an interest in niche genres/series then :P

I don't think that using the 140k numbers is that fair because we don't know the launch numbers. Also, the sequel to a enormous RPG (FC) that is directly tied with it and had no marketing whatsoever was bound to do worse than FC.

Damn Trails SC is dead in the water on PC. Hopefully the PSP/Vita side of the equation if picking up PC's slacking off since they know not to wait for a 70% off sale.

Yeah i mean it's not like the PC launch of FC that was what made SC get localized at all, right? These PC players, man.

Downwell is god damn GOTY and it's like a dollar. It's doing well but hoping it does amazing.

Damn Trails SC is dead in the water on PC. Hopefully the PSP/Vita side of the equation if picking up PC's slacking off since they know not to wait for a 70% off sale.

The ignorance here, though. PC is a lot less front loaded, in time SC will do very well and I'm sure XSEED know this. Besides if it wasn't for these slacking PCs, the game probably wouldn't have been localised at all.

Im talking about few series in Particular.

Dark Souls and Xenoverse audience might be entirely different as compared to tales.

US + EU for ToX on PS3 after 2 months was 230k and 770k in Japan+Asia.

The dev said on twitter that it already paid all it's costs and it's still selling.

But Tales did well. We have numbers.

US + EU for ToX on PS3 after 2 months was 230k and 770k in Japan+Asia.

So yeah, not bad at all for the west. It definitely helped the audience to grow.

Isn't it? I can't imagine LTD sales for x360 ports being much higher than 1st week sales on Steam...
That's why I said it's still a good result. To be amazing, it would have to break 25k before heavy discounts.

But I expect "good" to be good enough to ensure future Cave ports.

Damn Trails SC is dead in the water on PC. Hopefully the PSP/Vita side of the equation if picking up PC's slacking off since they know not to wait for a 70% off sale.
I'm quite confident the active PSP base is incredibly excited for the game. I expect dozens of sales to that group. (Vita is more relevant of course)

It's only a little more than FC sold on PSP when XSEED called it a massive failure.
It's actually more? Wow.

Trails SC sales are probably fine for a direct sequel to a game that less than 10% have finished (of the people who have started it). They priced it out of the impulse purchase territory as well.

The good news is that according to steamspy, FC has had over 10K players in the last two weeks, which might indicate that now that the sequel is finally out, people are actually playing FC and after they are done with that, will buy SC. Maybe SC will have an extremely long tail.

We'll see, a sale or bundle during the coming weeks can help boost it.

Now this is what I call seeing the glass half full.

Unless the PSN numbers are much bigger (which I certainly doubt) with those sales the series isn't worth it for XSeed at all, especially considering the ordeal SC has been for them.

It seems one of these series with a very vocal, but really small fanbase.
